"Va bene... mi dispiace, but I'm afraid I need to ruin your pants," Malodore said, apologetically. Then, before the words really had time to sink in, it had a neat pair of scissors out, carefully slicing open the cloth that encased the broken leg. It relaxed slightly as the flesh was revealed - the skin was not broken. Not a compound fracture, thank Jack...

"I can set this, but he must be brought to Nurse Cricket," the plague doctor said, in a tone that brooked no argument. It was quite a bit more commanding than how it usually sounded. The doctor at work.

From Riley's standpoint, the leg did not look good. So of course, she easily lied. See, Malodore is going to set it, and then you will be on your way to getting better. It's good. You will be fine. I don't even see a drop of blood. This is a good sign. Now, hold my hand, and keep your eyes on me while Malodore sets it. Then we will take you to Cricket.

She bent her head to block the view of the leg, so Jericho was forced to look at her. Keep your eyes on me, all right Jericho? Remember how strong you are. And I am right here.

For a moment, Jericho raised an eyebrow at Malodore's words. It just.. sounded odd to hear that. He soon felt relieved as it seemed like the break wasn't horrendous. Riley's words helped ease him further.

Though, there was a sense of apprehension as it was time for Mal to set his leg. Nodding slowly, he stared up at the Mindflayer, taking in a deep breath.

This was going to suck.

(( HIII INTERRUPTION Nio gave me permission to interrupt. C: DON'T MIND ME *ZOOM* ))

STAGE 1 GO!

Well, this was certainly awkward. Merope stared at the Terror Warrior course in front of her, fidgeting in place. She saw Jericho blaze through the first part of the course. The fall she missed; the bellow he gave out after? Loud and clear.

Merope could still see the group clustered around the fallen student. Would he be okay? Could they still run the course? The undead eyed the obstacle course suspiciously, wondering if it was safe to try it.

But... it looked like the group was off to one side. Surely it wouldn’t be too much of a bother if she tried stage one, would it? The course was tempting. If she could do it, then... then...

Merope took a deep breath, digging through her pockets for a hair tie, using it to bind her long hair back into a epony tail. It was a small thing that Merope couldn’t help but to partake pleasure in. Long hair was just so... so nice to run his fingers through, and even better to slowly brush. When you grew up without hair and discover in humanoid your hair was short, it was the small things that counted. He was going to miss his hair when he decided to go back to being a boil. If he decided to change back.

With her hair out of her way, Merope took another deep breath. She was wasting time now; there was nothing to do but charge forward and hope for the best.

The signal went off, and Merope nearly tripped and failed at the first obstacle. Quickly she recovered, taking a leap to cross the sextuple step. She didn’t have time to linger on the sensation of bounding from one ledge to the next, and all too quickly the step was over.

Merope landed on the ledge to the rolling log, nearly slipping and falling off until she managed to scramble back on. She shook herself off, staring at the log before latching on. Merope tug her claws into the log and wrapped her tail around it, hanging onto it for her dear unlife.

The log rolled to a stop, taking a moment to reorient herself. Next, next, next... What was next? Ah! Merope ran forward, taking a leap and entering the jumping skitter. She wiggled her way through that, clearing that with no problem.

All in all she was starting to get the hang of this. It wasn’t as bad as it looked. Until the Blades of Death. The only way Merope made it past those was by leaning forward and managing to fall across it faster than the blades could knock her off.

And then the wall. The warped wall. Merope didn’t even notice the cluster of students that were around the fallen student as she ran up it, clambering over it and pulling herself onto the top.

The Tarzan Swing was next. Merope ignored the offered vines and took a flying leap, her claws digging into the final rope. She quickly scampered up it, and slapped the buzzer down. Boom! Stage one, complete!

STAGE 2 START!

And since she was already here, why not? Merope decided to give the second course a spin. Except this one... wow. Merope allowed herself to stop and stare at the second course, wondering what the Student Council was thinking when they put this together. This had to be a joke, right? It was just so... so... So not worth looking forward to.

At least the bottom of this obstacle course had water. This pleased Merope, even if she didn’t know how to swim. It meant there was something there to land on in case she fell; she wouldn’t suffer the same fate as Jericho earlier. She couldn’t help but to hope that it was saltwater briefly before laughing the thought off. Salt water? Here? As if. Merope shook her head, and moved to the start of the second course.

The signal went off, prompting Merope to move and tackle the first obstacle head on. As much as she was dreading the second course completely, the first obstacle was... surprisingly fun. The chain reaction wasn’t as bad as it looked initially. It was actually pretty fun to hang there and feel the wind whip past her face. She released one hand and reached out, grabbing the other zip-line to continue moving down the course. Was this what it was like to fly? No wonder so many students upon reaching their second year gained wings!

The salmon ladder that followed was something Merope didn’t care much for. And the slider drop that followed? Merope failed that spectacularly, dropping down and landing in the pool completely.

Not that she minded. Merope was wearing a big grin on her face as she waded out of the failure pool, stopping long enough to wring out her hair before leaving.

Malodore had brought a sturdy metal rod from its supplies to use as a splint, and it picked the rod up again as it studied Jericho's leg. It would have to be very careful, very careful indeed... fortunately, the break looked clean, and it wouldn't be too much of a challenge to pull the bones back into place, leaving the fine work to Nurse Cricket and her bugs...

It was going to hurt, though. The plague doctor pulled rolls of thick, elastic bandages from its sleeves, then looked up at Jericho and nodded once. Then it moved, quickly but surely, shifting the leg and setting its beak against the feel of bone grating against bone. Gently straighten, then splint and bind... it knew the procedures. They were quite simple.

Yet, somehow, doing them on a friend was different.

Staring up at Riley with a sense of apprehension, Jericho gritted his teeth awaiting for the inevitable. Then it came.

Eyes widened briefly before his entire body tensed up.

"AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" he screamed as his leg was being set back into place. The world went white with pain and he was on the verge of thrashing about to try and get it to stop.

Biting his lips, he tried to keep himself from screaming any further, giving out muffled groans instead. Beads of red appeared where his sharp teeth dug into himself.
PostPosted: Sun Oct 02, 2011 7:52 pm

Riley winced when the scream came. She could feel the emotion of pain, but not the pain herself - it was enough to know he suffered, however. She opened one eye, and saw the bite on his lips. She refused to let him suffer further, and quite forcefully pulled his teeth apart and dropped her arm right in his mouth.

If he needed to bite down, she wasn't going to let him do it on himself.

Just one more second and it's over, Jericho. Just one more second. You can make it.

Malodore worked with swift efficiency, doing its best to ignore the cries of pain - the dragon's agony was beating on its own empathy, and prickles of adrenaline ran down its spine. But it kept focused, drawing on its formal training, and suddenly everything was done - splint made, leg wrapped. Done. For now.

"To Cricket, now," it said, feeling dizzy as it tried to clamp down on its empathy, and failed.

With a mixture of pain and confusion, Jericho stared as Riley pried open his mouth.. only to stick her arm into it. What was she doing?! Though he tried not to, he couldn't help but bite down onto her. His golden eyes were wide open as he looked, somewhat horrified. It wasn't long before he could taste her blood too.

Once the splint was done, the pain was slowly melting away and the dragon began to relax once more. Opening his mouth a little more widely, he moved back to try and get her arm out, breathing heavily from what just occurred.

Looking over towards Mal, he nodded weakly and rested his head back down. He was feeling rather tired now, but he'd have to make sure to thank the Plague doctor more formally later on.

Riley didn't answer his call. She thinned her gaze, held her breath, and thanked Jack that she could take away what little additional pain from him that she could. When it was all over, and he pulled her arm out, she immediately moved to try and pick him up. Her arm slid under his knees, and the other rested on his back.

However, Jericho was no Malodore. And the stress of trying to pick him up in her arms forced a rather vulgar curse to emit from her voice. She was strong, but.. damn the boy was heavy, wings and all. She would have had a much easier time carrying him on her back, like she had when they teamed up during Trial by Fire - but that wasn't going to fly with a broken leg. No, she had to do it the hard way, even if it was already making her sweat.

Cricket. She barely managed to repeat, slowly carrying Jericho off the field. And after, you're going on a diet.

STAGE 1 GO!

Really. Why was he trying all of this on the second day he was in school? Was Amityville Academy really this active all the time, or was it just his luck? Mind you, Mortimer was fine with trying something out, even if it did cut into his comic reading time, but . . . that decision had been made before he actually came and saw the obstacle course itself.

Ooooooh Jack.

The course was clear for its next, ah, victim, and Mort felt a little stupid just standing there and watching. So it was with a deep breath and an inner cringe that the zombie began lumbering off into the awaiting challenge.

The jumping portion wasn't terribly difficult; slow-paced as he was, somehow Mort managed to get the momentum to keep himself from falling over - though he did feel a knee weaken when he leapt off the final platform. ouo;; And then . . . the log. The swooping feeling in his stomach almost made him consider giving up then, but before he could cogitate the orders to his legs, the log had slid down to the bottom and nearly projected him off.

So far so good.

Well, until he hit the jumping skitter. SO MUCH MOMENTUM sldfkhdskfhbasd. The boil almost lost an arm while passing through the two walls. And then, and then the spiked n' spinning bridge jackjackjackjackjack -

- Probably too much for him on the first go, unfortunately. Mortimer's adrenaline wasn't kicking in correctly by the time he hit the nine foot wall, and the most that he got was to face-slide down each attempt he gave at it.

Still, better to walk away in one piece than to be decapitated from the earlier parts. Even if it meant having a couple of bruises in places he didn't think could bruise.

STAGE 1 GO!

After looking around at the concession stand, Bea came over to the obstacle course to see what was such a HUGE attraction. And there it was. Standing tall and magnificent with all it's glory.

The massive Terror Warrior obstacle course.

The student council did a wonderful job indeed! It reminded her of the small inflatable course she had during the Florescetival booth. However, this one was obviously epic. Though Bea had even a hard time with her old course, she thought it may be fun to try it out. After all, it was made by students for students, right? Well, then again... It seemed a student had gotten hurt and another person ahead of her was trying out the course.

Bea walked up to the course very curiously...

The signal went off and there Bea went! She ran towards the sextuple steps and leaped from one to another. Without slipping or falling, Bea managed to clear that part no problem.

Next up was the rolling log. There was no time to think and only enough time to go with the flow. Or in this case… Go with the log! Holding onto the wooden bars for dear unlife, she also managed to pass onto the next part.

A long runway was ahead of her. Bea made a mad dash towards the jumping skitter. She jumped on it and sprang upwards towards the walls. Once she held herself up, she hadn’t realized how much higher this was getting. Please don’t look up my dress! was all she could think. She nearly slipped just trying to keep her composure.

Fortunately, she made it to the blades of death. Which looked a bit intimidating. Bea took a deep breath wondering how long is this obstacle course. She leaped forward onto the flat sides of the blades, clearing the spot easier than the last.

WALL. Warped wall. Bea let out a groan as she stared at that curved wall. Her shoes weren’t made for climbing… Let alone a slick surface. Bea struggled a bit, almost slipping here and there, but managed to climb it after all.

Lastly, the tarzan swing. Bea jumped as far as she could to the furthest rope she could grab on to. After a few large swings, she swung over to the next rope. Then the next. Then the next. Then finally, she reached the rope to climb the wall. This part proved to be difficult, seeing as climbing a rope required quite a bit of upper strength.

In the end, she cleared the first stage.
