The town was quite and the people seemed to have assembled at the gate. They stood solemly looking at Lyra and the others.
"Why have you come?" The man who looked to be in charge, asked harshly. "Our ancestors forewarned of the enchantress but they did not think she would return. It is belived that you allowed an innocent boy to be killed when you could have prevented it. What say you to this?"

Well, scratch that. It wasn't her fault. She was betrayed by someone in her group who committed the crime. Look for him and quit blaming her. *He spoke in a gruff voice, it sounded as if he was growling*
