Ren's eyes widened in wonder. He dropped the broom on the floor. "Show me!" he demanded in a very domineering tone. Then he blushed very slightly and bit his lip for a moment. "Please show me" he amended in a softer tone.

Ren frowned and shook his head. "No" he replied. "I want to see it now. You said if it's in working order, then we can have music whilst we work. I will sweep more when there's music!"

xx✎I'm all alone The immortal sighed. "Alright." Nicolai went into the living room and took a sheet from of the stereo system. It was on and the CD...thing...still opened. He knew how to work the machines, but remembering the terms for all the parts wasn't his strong point. "Time to test it out...." He put an Elvis disc into the drive - that was it! - and closed it. It took a few minutes for the thing to read the disc, but it eventually started playing. "Phew."Out Of Creativity: --

Ren watched Nicholai with a focused frown as the Immortal fiddled with the strange machine. He gave the most brilliant smile and clapped his hands together in delight when it started to play music. He was as enthusiastic as a child. "Oh! Oh, it's wonderful!" he exclaimed. "And what music is that? I never heard music like that before."

Back in the old world, he was known as the King of Rock and Roll. He remained one the world's most famous performers. Also one of the most beautiful men to exist....For a dark-haired pest, as your old company would refer to him today." Ren listened with bright eyed fascination as Nicholai explained who the singer was. He showed him the CD case and the young man gave an exclamation. "Oh! He's Kurai!" he gasped. "He has jet black hair. But yes, he has pleasant features, one cannot deny that, and such a voice! I never heard singing like this, music like this. It's so...vibrant? Is that the right word? Did you know this singer? Was he in your city?"

"You did? How exciting! It seems so strange to me that people travelled around so much, went from city to city. I think that would be quite thrilling in a way. But...those cities aren't there any more, are they?" He sighed.

"New York?" Ren repeated. "I think I have read books that mention it. There was some sort of famous statue, right? And it was on the coast? I have sometimes wondered what the sea looks like. And yes, we are taught that there was a lot of crime in the pre-war world."

Ren stared at Nicholai for a moment, blinking. What had he said wrong now? He had wanted the man to tell him more about New York. He had so many questions. But, it seemed the other didn't want to talk and under the strange, weird new circumstances he found himself in, he could hardly insist or force him too. He sighed and went outside to see if he could spot more creatures like the small brown one the immortal had shooed away.
