Just a draft of something I came up with today (and need to finish by the end of the week)...

- for piccolo, timpani, xylophone, string quartet & tenor voice

Sorry about the crappy quality, it's an MP3 of a MIDI mock-up that's (very) loosely inspired by Vietnamese music. If it gets performed live in June it'll have a super traditional male voice singing in Vietnamese. The words are based on a poem my mom picked out called "Ghen" (Jealousy) by Nguyen Binh.

The timpani sounds "uneven" because a) square rhythms are boring and b) my mentor would kill me if I kept it too predictable. I'm also gonna cut the xylophone out of the beginning so it doesn't sound stereotypical pan-Asian.

I drew a self portrait. Kind of. I'm not really among the legions of the shambling dead. ;o;



I spent like...five hours straight on this. And I'm really proud of it. I don't cel-shade much, and this is the first overview angle I've ever done successfully. o 3o

In my defense, though, I didn't pass out. ;o I just laughed and hugged my roommate a lot.

We've been having a Pixar fest for the last few days. We watched all of the movies (minus Bug's Life) and all of the shorts and bloopers and bonus features. We're all set for WALL-E!

I've been sitting on this drawing for a long time, with the the hat, head, and skull wing.

And was inspired by Sora's last piece she did for me. The hat that is.


My scanners dying I think, I wish I could clean it up and color it. sad
I hate the skull wing behind the rose and hand, but I fought with it too much that I just settled despite the fact.
