Sorry about the crappy quality, it's an MP3 of a MIDI mock-up that's (very) loosely inspired by Vietnamese music. If it gets performed live in June it'll have a super traditional male voice singing in Vietnamese. The words are based on a poem my mom picked out called "Ghen" (Jealousy) by Nguyen Binh.
The timpani sounds "uneven" because a) square rhythms are boring and b) my mentor would kill me if I kept it too predictable. I'm also gonna cut the xylophone out of the beginning so it doesn't sound stereotypical pan-Asian.
