Uuni very much debated following along after Kess. With one look at the green hatchling, however, she decided to stay. It seemed, for now, there was no severe risk of mauling.

"I'll save you a spot," she called a little more loudly than she would have liked back towards Kess.

It wouldn't do any good for both of them to go, especially when she wasn't injured. In light of selfishness, she didn't want to miss her chance to Impress as she only might have gotten one more. However, in her more unselfish way, she thought Kess might want to deal with the problem herself, and she'd certainly want to return to such a good vantage point afterwords.

Uuni would be here waiting provided she didn't watch her own blood spill at the anger of another dragon.

Another Impression a to boy Merik had never met, but seeing that only knew a handful of Weyrfolk, that wasn't surprising. He looked like a sharp little guy, and so long as the Dragon was happy, it was a good match. Merik still hadn't realized he was the only one clapping, so he kept up with a hearty cheer after every Impression- this included. The Blue was a gorgeous deep color, and it was so thoughtful of the thing to stay and watch his sister, even when he must have been starving out of his mind with egg hunger at that point.
She didn't seem quite so enthusiastic about the boys, but she'd already gone up and down the girls... twice. Merik thought it a little incredible she wasn't satisfied with one of the female Candidates, since he had pegged them both as about to Look to girls. Maybe she was just picky. She wasn't one of the wild ones; he didn't doubt at all she would find hers eventually. And no mauling necessary!

When the little green's eyes took their turn on Terisa, she felt a spark shoot through her, but it was simply the same treatment as all the other females.... Sighing, she was hopeful again the second time that she paced her eyes over the weaver girl, but once again, it was the same as all the other candidates. Watching in a bit of confusion as the little one went over to the boys with her blue friend, Terisa shrugged internally. Well, at least they were not violent. And it was understandable that she wanted to be sure of who she was picking.... Though her eyes glanced at the green periodically, for the most part Terisa looked back to the remaining eggs.

The green's relaxed way of handling things was a relief to Jisken, who felt that he'd had enough excitement for one Hatching. However, he stiffened again as the blue neared the boys, selecting one from their ranks rather calmly, all things considered. Jisken thought that perhaps he had become too anxious because of an isolated event, and attempted to calm down, somewhat successfully returning his heart-rate to normal as he scanned through the faces of the Candidates. Then, seeing Jaidev from some distance away, he abruptly turned his head, as if he found the Green's selection process infinitely more fascinating, all of a sudden.

When this was all said and done, Jisken would have quite a bad case of foot-in-mouth, or so it would seem.

The green really was taking her sweet time with choosing, but a long study was worlds better than a short mauling in Canth's book. She wasn't among the flock of females for scrutiny, but that didn't particularly bother her, either. No, better to stand back and observe than be staring down the maw of a little dragonet, no matter how sedate it seemed.

She was unaware of the slight... er, miscommunication between dragonet and rider when impression finally came, but the link itself was all that mattered, and she sighed a quiet sigh of approval at it. No maulings with this pair after all: just quiet, peaceful, relatively composed joinings.

... If only the rest of the hatching could be so tame.

And it seemed that the green, unsatisfied with the females, was heading off toward the boy's section at her other side now. Surely, there was someone there for her, she reasoned. There was always someone, people said-- even if a dragonet had to go tearing through the stands to find them.

Only five eggs in, and for some reason, she was beginning to feel out of place. Was she even here for the dragons?... Sure, they were marvelous creatures, but... Oh, surely, that was just the secret jitters getting to her.

Oh goodness.. that poor little green didn't seem as though it didn't know what it was doing with herself. Really, it was all so fun to watch now that the dragonets weren't trying to maul each other and the candidates... but looking over at everybody else standing...
.....
..

Nngh.. well, this was very very special to just stand off to the side by herself to watch the hatchlings as they went about their impressing, looking over their possible 'theirs' so that they could go on and continue along with their happy little lives.

...
...

Or whatever. No matter what, it was simple getting to a point where watching the hatchlings was more fascinating than worrying about one of them picking her as 'theirs'.

Pendra's heart beat faster as the green continued to reguard each of the girls. That she didn't seem interested in the boys showed promise... She looked around at the other girls. Which would it be? Which one had that special something the lovely green was searching for?
She noted the blue make his choice and silently congratulated the lucky boy.

Well, this pair was honestly darling. Weylin couldn't have fathomed something this sweet in a hatching this angry. But shards and shells, they were pretty and seemed sweet-tempered and...

Weylinmine.

Weylin stared blankly at the stocky blue dragonet as it approached him. Had something just spoken to him?

Weylinmine, stop this nonsense and come here. Let me have a better look at you. Look at you, standing behind those boys. Come here.

"...Of course." And for the first time ever, the motormouth Weyrworker-c**-Candidate was at a loss for words and not angry even in the slightest. And he stepped forward to look at the dragon as the dragon looked at him. Unconsciously, he found himself straightening up even as Toronth made a mental noise that was frighteningly like a tut.

...We'll work on it, Toronth said eventually, then shook his head and snorted. Come all the way over here, Mine, and once she Impresses, you will feed me.

And what else could Weylin do but obey?

... Well that was new.

Not only was the little Green interested in every single girl, she was completely meticulous. Almost to the point of being ridiculous. He tipped his head at her, his hair falling into his eyes for a moment before he reached up to brush it away.

She was... certainly taking her time, wasn't she?
Unlike himself, who usually did things as quickly as possible, unless he could avoid it.

It wasn't long before the Blue had her in tow and was heading along towards them. He fidgeted anxiously, watching him as he looked each Candidate over. As he noticed that the Blue was staring off to his left for a while, he turned and noticed the boy he was looking at. Quite feminine, really, but that hardly bothered him.

With yet another dragonet Impressed, he looked back towards the Green. She was quite calm, if entirely uninterested. Still, she was cute, if that meant anything at all.

The green and blue pair were certainly a relaxing sight to see, and so far gave proof that not all of Cheoth's spawn were going to be maneaters. The way the dazzling blue waited for his green sister was indeed adorable, and Ferris had no reason to hold back her own girly "Awwwweee."

With a tingle, the short girl watched curiously as the green sister circled the girls once... twice... three times, and then almost snorted when she almost begrudgingly followed her blue brother over to the boys. It was adorable, to say again and...

"Oh.... Ooh no way," Ferris stated, her eyes suddenly locked on Weylin once she realized where the blue brother had headed. A look of total shock and hilarity spread over her features as she folded her arms under her chest.

"Noooooooo waaaaaaaaaayyy.... Weylin, you whore." The 'whore' part came out of no where, really, and didn't work for much of an insult, but Ferris didn't really know what else to say. ... at least she hadn't yelled it, though.

Really?

The little green sighed, watching her brother's antics as she relaxed. That was Toronth, though. He would be caught up on something like appearance. At least he had found His with ease. She'd never have to worry about her brother like that, and what was more, the Gypsy Vanner was making sure to stay behind until she found Hers. Fortunately, she was fairly certain she had.

She turned and walked back over to the girls herself, Toronth still watching protectively from where he waited with His. She peeked up at each girl as she passed until she finally found the one she had pinpointed as Hers.

You know, FerrisMine, she said, sitting down in front of Hers. I knew you were Mine all along. Your Hwinth, however, knows the importance of making sure everything is going according to plan. She looked up at Hers with big blue eyes. We had to make sure Toronth found His alright, but that's a secret. Oh, and if you use such language again, we will have words, Mine. Words.

She lapsed into silence, the customary speaking done, and nudged at Hers. She was hungry. Could they eat, please?

Veyes watched rather horrified by the amount of people that were suffering injuries from the various dragons that had hatched. His position had been lucky so far keeping him from harms way but several of his friends had not that sort of fortune. And that thought disturbed him greatly as he still wondered how the girl who had touched the eggs had gotten off so easy. She was still in the Weyr...He doubted after this that many would want her here.

He was glad to see the others impress, but his happiness was more fully realized when Mal, his roommate impressed. He clapped his hands together once as he watched Mal's face fill with the new found partner. Veyes still wondered what that feeling felt like and a part of him was sad knowing that Mal and Aeron would both be moving from their alcove. However, he was happy to see that one of his friends finally accomplish something that still seemed to elude him. There were many eggs left and he was still hopeful but there was always that quiet feeling of doubt that set back at the edge of his mind. Only tempered by the dreams he had of the future. Surely, one day...his moment would arrive.

Zafir watched the blue and green pair turn towards the boys, and felt his body hiccup. He was starting to feel separated from himself, but it wasn't a foreign sensation. No worse than when he'd run around like a headless wherry on a boat caught in a squall, making a fool of himself. His days on the sea hadn't been good ones, necessarily, but they'd taught him much about how to handle himself during worrying times.

And then, the little blue paused, eyeing a candidate Zafir vaguely recognized. He'd seen the boy's wrath loosed on someone who'd made the mistake of calling him a girl, though only from a distance. The boy's face changed into a strange expression, and Zafir knew that another impression had occurred. beside him, Merik cheered for the other candidate- weyrling now.

And yet, neither the blue nor his new mate moved to feed. Instead, they stayed beside the choosy little green.

She is moving slowly, isn't she? A good thing, considering all the madness I just barely escaped witnessing. he thought, wondering what lucky young man, for it seemed each of the girls had measured short, would take the dainty, patched dragon for his own. Or, I suppose, which man she'll take. How does that phrase go? The dragon chooses, and the rider complies? And, as if to prove her point of independence, the green turned tail, and returned to study the young women once more.

There was a smile on Terisa's face as the green impressed, but she also let out a slight sigh. She was a pretty green. Well, greens were very common, so hopefully there would be more left of this clutch. Letting her eyes roam over the remaining eggs, she watched for movement.

Kess found her spot once more, nudging Uuni quietly during the flurry of activity and ooh's and aah's that came with two impressions. "Gorgeous beasties." The two were nicely tempered and beautiful. A good pairing.

A nod for those new riders. They were both the good sort, she knew from their limited run-ins in the weyr.

As for her arm, well. Kess suspected it might be more injured than acceptable, and rather than chance getting sent from the sands had found a healer's apprentice, calmly asking for some numbweed for her bruised arm. The distracted boy had agreed and given her the stuff after she explained that she'd been knocked down but that she was alright.

Now she was back, feeling quite a bit better. Kess would be sure to actually have it looked at... Later.
