Desiree looked up at the same time as the others, making sure to move closer to Kris so there was no way the girl could sit between them.
Jess gave the bunch a cold smile before taking a seat on the other side of Kris. "Well, well, looks like all the houses are accounted for now."She pulled Peter down next to her and kissed him before resting her head on his shoulder and lookng to her left. "Hello...Kris..."

Kris had bearly anytime to react; she was too dumbfounded to even think. She shook her head, hearing Jess speak to her. "O-oh. H-hey Jess," she said under her breath before turning her gaze to Desiree. By looking at her, you could tell she was confused and wanted to know why she was there. What more, was that she kissed Peter right in front of them all.
"Hi guys!" Peter grinned, looking at all his friends; anything Jess just did really didn't phase him at all. He didn't know why, either, all his friends were shocked at seeing her coming towards them before, but he didn't ask, ether.

Desiree watched the seemingly vapid smile on Jess's face as she filled her plate. She looked to the others with a "What is she doing here?" look on her face...
Which the not really so vapid Jess picked up on. She nudged Peter under the table and flashed her eyes toward Desiree, trying to get him to catch the incredulous look on Desiree's face.

"Hi, Jess," said Ray, affable, as usual. "So you're gracing us with your presence today?" he said, grinning. "That's generous."
Matt looked up, eyes steely. "To what do we owe this pleasure?" he asked Jess, voice flat.

Jess looked up. Ray was always a thorn in her side, so nice to everyone he really hurt her cause. "Oh, yes, well. I just thought I would spend sometime with Peter and all his friends." Her eyes flashed to Matt as her lips turned up in a grin.

Matt swallowed. Everything she said seemed like a double-edged sword. "Very nice of you," he remarked quietly, "To share your kindness with more people than just Peter."
Leigh looked from Matt to Jess and back again, afraid. Was there something going on that she didn't know about? It was very possible; Matt didn't exactly confide in her.

Matt laughed, amused. She was merciless, and wicked, and cold, but she was shrewd; he had to give her that. "I do know you," he said, tipping his flagon of pumpkin juice towards her. "You don't give me much of a choice about that, do you?" he added, smirking.

Jess grinned. She knew what was going on. "Yes, well I try to be known." She placed her hand on Kris's shoulder and looked at her. "You know, just well liked."
Desiree's lip twitched as she watched the scene, suddenly getting up from the table. "Well I'm full, see you all later." She looked over Ray's shoulder at what he was working on. "Hmmm...I know a book that has alot of information on this in the library, if you want to go check it out with me..."

Ray got up. "Sure. I need all the help I can get, anyway," he said, his voice unwaveringly amiable. He drank the last of his pumpkin juice and smiled warmly at all of them, even Jess. "See you." He started towards the library. "Let's go," he called to Desiree.

Desiree quickly picked up her books and shuffled out of the Great Hall with Ray, not glancing back at the table. "That girl is something else..." She shook her head and sighed. "This is why I stay away from relationships. Too much drama."

Ray nodded. "They always end up with someone angry, or someone hurt," he said sadly. "It's all so unnecessary. Just because someone's pretty doesn't give anyone license to make other people feel bad," he said, thinking of Jess.

"Tell that to Jess." She chuckled, her intuition telling her that they were on the same wavelength. As they entered the library, she spoke to Madam Pince before taking Ray to the back section. "The book was right around here..."

Ray browsed the shelves, looking for a title that seemed to indicate Divination. "'Reading Between the Leaves'?" he suggested, seeing it on the shelf. "Or 'Smoke Signals: Interpreting the Past, Present, and Future'?"

"No...no...it's not that one, it's, aha here it is." She pulled out a green textbook that seemed to be bound in tea leaves themselves. "Undredging the Dredges: Volume 2. They go really in depth on the importance of different symbols." She brought it over to a table and sat down as she flipped through the pages. "Let's see...which ones were you working on?"
