Ling heard the slightest bit of a sniffle and turned his head to find Nola laying in the shadows behind him. He flicked his tail on her direction, nudging her with his tail feathers. "Nola, come here please." He said in a manner that let the little cub know it was an order and not a request. He lowered his head so he could be at the cub's level, his eyes shimering with concern for her. "Something troubles you my little one."

The little one moved closer now that she had been found out. She looked at him and nodded in responce to his statement. "Yes sir." She wasn't sure what else to say. King Ling had other more important things to deal with then her.

Ling looked at the kitten and sighed. "Nola, what is it that is bothering you?" He cocked his head to one side, the concern flowing out of him. "You do not need to hide your concerns from us little one, we are family here and we care about eachother." He smiled, his paw reaching out and patting Nola on the head.

"I just miss my mama is all...and my sisters." She sat down near Ling. "I thank you very much for taking me in. It is much nicer here then my old home." She lowered her head again not wanting to start crying again.

"There is no thanks needed." He chuckled and patted her head again. "Your mother eh? I see." he nodded, he knew all too well what it was like to miss one's family. "This is your family now, and I promise we will do or bestto live up to your expectation." He smirked.

"King Ling?...is...is it possible to have too many lionesses in a pride?" Nola asked quietly.

Ling chuckled at the young girl. He shook his head and grinned. "I suppose it is possible, but not in this pride, and not right now. We are happy here, Nola, even if some of us don't quite know it yet."

This made the little cub smile and she yawned a little. "Thank you king Ling. I am glad I found a home where I am safe." She then took a few steps so that she could lay down and finally let sleep lay claim to her. "I...just wish that red kitten would listen...she is gonna wind up like my sisters if she isn't careful."

"I will let no harm come to her, or her sister. Should push come to shove, I'm, still stronger and larger than her." He grinned and curled his body up on the ground, his paw protectivly around nola. He looked up Leanna again, smiling at her for the time being. "These kittens need so much..." he laughed.

As Nola yawned again she softly nuzzled Ling's protective paw. Sleep came quickly after that and so the rest of the night was lost to the young kitten.

Leanna smiled at the two and gave a soft chuckle. She lowered her muzzle to the sleeping kit and slowly licked her cheek. "Good night, little one." She murmured softly and slowly purred a small lullaby. Looking up at Ling, she mirrored his emotions. "Yes..I know..that is why I am here..I love being with the little ones...I hope to give them whatever they need..." Her expression suddenly went saddening as she remembered her own dreams of having kits. She quickly pushed that thought aside and smiled back at the King. "Well...maybe we should think about the little red one later. I..kinda made her upset by giving her a verbal assault on how dangerous it was out there in wild for her..she didn't take it so well.." The lioness looked ashamed at doing so but knew she had to. She gave a little laugh. "Reminds me of what I had to do to Karv sometimes..." She remembered her brother fondly.

"You had to lecture Karver??" he laughed at that. "Karver was my king...when I was young." he nodded and looked at the sleeping Nola and then to the lone red kitten. "When we have to we will handle her...and you did nothing wrong by telling her the ways of life Leanna.." He sighed and shook his head.

"Yes, quite a bit." She chuckled. "Karver always got into trouble. Infact, that was his nickname, Trouble!" She chuckled softly then sighed at his comment. "Well..thank you, King Ling. I..am not really used to such harsh treatment, but I had to. I don't think I got through to her yet..." The lioness looked down yet again and drew in the dirt. She then watched the sleeping cub peacefully. "She's so precious.." Leanna murmured and began to thrum that lullaby again. A mix of purrs and growls erupted from her throat in a soothing melody that echoed through the cave.

"nola is a very fragile child, even if she won't admit it..." he sighed and pulled the kitten close to him. "She and Xia were the first I found, all alone out there in the grass.." he lightly licked the little cub and smiled. "I am a weak king...too caring..." He chuckled and nodded to himself.

Leanna gave him a fond look and shook her head. "No, Ling. You are a fine King, as I see it. A caring King is better than a cruel one. Better to help a fragile cub then to let it die." She looked down at Nola and smiled. "I think..you will have a good reign ahead of you." Leanna looked over at him, nudged his cheek softly with her snout and turned. "Well..good night, good King Ling. Rest well." She bowed then trotted over to her place near the doorway of the cave. She huddled close the wall, curled up and soon fell asleep. Her light breathing could be heard as Leanna rested for the day to come.
