Wonderful how he and Bix could at least share the moment of being the two whitest guys there. And now that the moment was over. He blushed a little as Tori chuckled at his dancing skills, at least he could still make people laugh. There was a worry that he didn't have the skills anymore not since the funeral had happened. Yet the more he pushed that day aside and worried about where he was the less he thought about it. Instead a familiar voice sounded in his head, a rather rude comment about Tori looking some something sort of ugly creature. If she was calling names that meant Tori posed a threat to the veela's look not to mention she hated anything Matt thought was pretty. Well the only exception was him. "Oh? I'm sure if Bix says your the smartest cookie then you must know a few things. I mean I don't really know many hunters at the moment except Bix and about two others so I don't have any reason not to trust what he says." Matt replied as he chuckled a little as she had glared at Bix. "Yea I'm a doctor somewhat... I mean I am still trying to get use to the whole abilities of the hunters at the moment. It's nothing special really... and I'm sure you have done some great things." He replied giving her a bit of a smile. "I mean being able to fight is pretty awesome. All I tend to do is run around with a wand and give out band aids." Or at least that was what he had done at the last mission he was in.

Sherry knew she was blushing, and his comment didn’t make things any better. He wasn’t looking at her again though, and she didn’t know what to make of that. Was that a good or bad or indifferent sign? Did it matter at all? She sighed, hands brushing at her skirt again. She was almost feeling silly in the dress, too exposed and too open. “Thanks,” she repeated. “I…hope it is.” Her eyes went back to his sweater. She…she had been there, hadn’t she? She almost laughed at herself. How could she forget? She’d loved that day. “It looks good on you.” She reached out, fingers brushing his sleeve. When had she moved close enough to touch him? “It’s clean, and certainly better than some things I’ve seen here.” If he was feeling underdressed and she was feeling overdressed… she almost giggled at the idea of how silly it was. “That’s good,” her eyes went to his foot. “Don’t strain it. Best no—“ She stopped talking as her phone buzzed. “Oh, uh, pardon me,” she said, reaching for her phone. She didn’t moved away from him or anything, the apology was for pausing the conversation that had been going… so very well. A message from Ofelia? Ofie! Sherry bit her lip again, eyes sliding to Jake. He probably didn’t want to talk to Ofie, and he was certainly in no condition for confrontation. Sherry did want to talk to the girl, but she wasn’t sure if this affair was a good place to make sure her friend was alright. It was better than never, but… Rown Text to Ofie: Yes! I’m with Jake. She’d… see how that went. "Forgive me," she said to Jake. "So, um," Sherry was finding she was really bad at this whole conversation thing. "Anything new?" Silly question.

Ofelia felt the phone buzz in her hand and she flipped it open. At the message from Sherry her face brightened and then...dimmed. Jake.
The redhead didn't really remember what she'd done except for the blood on her hands afterward, Before being there, and the look on Sherry's face that flashed in and out sometimes as she slept. It had been an act of rage maybe, or something, and the end....well.GrnGriff Text to Cherrydont worry you wont be bothered by me again And that was all she messaged before sticking the phone back into her bust. Ofelia suddenly felt sick and the walls of this place were suddenly way too close together. She wanted to get out now and go back into the haunted house and get away from here.
From them.
But if Stormy was staring and looked so....she should. Right?

Wilson laughed, “You know, Ryan and Saya don’t strike me as that type. They’d be growing up too fast if they were.” He tilted his head when Marcus called his name. “Yeah?” He leaned into Marcus’ hold, temporarily relinquishing his grasp on Ryan and Saya. The death hunter kept laughing while rubbing the back of his neck. “Yeah, I could—…” Sudden silence. He looked like a baffled child at first before slowly morphing into a kicked puppy until finally his face utterly crumpled altogether—
He smiled and chuckled. “Yeah. I guess she would scold me too.” Appearing more subdued, he adjusted his clothes a bit so they were more proper then went back to lazily draping his arms around Ryan and Saya. “You’ve been doing good?” he asked Marcus. Wilson looked between the two younger moon hunters and grinned. “Take your time,” he muttered. But he was pretty sure you two were going to end up together eventually.
--
Alaska took a step back to watch Marcus fuss over Wilson. How interesting. Her eyes bugged out upon seeing the lollipop in Sin’s mouth. She parted her lips slightly like she wanted a taste for herself, but then she firmly closed her mouth and turned toward the others. “You look more and more like a brat by the second,” she grumbled. The corner of her mouth twisted into a scowl at Sin. “So you’re that kind of person, huh? Why am I not surprised…?”
“Well,” she started slowly at Ryan’s question, “some people don’t show certain side of themselves under particular circumstances, so it’s not completely horrible to be cautious. But since I’m new here I could be wrong.” Alaska shrugged after throwing in her bit.

He flinched slightly when he felt her touch him, but hadn't shifted away. Doing so took too much effort. He wasn't quite sure what she had meant by that, but he only shrugged. Most of the other guys seemed to at least have dressed up a bit more than usual. He himself stuck out like a sore thumb, which was why he tried to keep to himself, though it... probably wasn't hard for anyone to pick him out among the crowd.
He didn't move when she pulled out her phone, but when he turned to look at her expression afterwards, he frowned. Though he didn't see who she texted, he had a feeling he knew.
Pushing himself off the wall, he re-adjusted his stance, wincing slightly from the pain. "The usual." He began shuffling away, a slight limp to his gait. "Go talk with her. Don't worry about me." He didn't harbour any ill thoughts towards Ofelia anymore but... in his current condition, he didn't really want to mingle with anyone right now. He didn't even want to be here.
Just get the briefing over with so I can leave.

Thinking straight? If anything, her nerves were a sign that her head was a jumbled mess . . . But she took the compliment with a polite nod nevertheless. "Me? Oh, not much. Still trying to learn the ins and outs of being a Mist, trying to be more social...and failing sorta...Oh! Miss Candace has been helping me," Stormy added in a happier tone. "What about you? You waiting for someone?" Ofelia seemed to have a connection on the phone as well.

When he had finished laughing over Wilson and Marcus's actions, he easily regrouped his attention back to the conversation at hand. Kat definitely looked like a strong comrade within the Sun Division. "Thanks. I look forward to working with you." It was definitely reassuring to have an older member to ask for help~ When he heard Alaska's comment, directed to his lollipop, "I'm not a brat." Sin easily bantered back with his felllow Sun hunter. One couldn't argue with his words because despite the lollipop (that kept him from starvation) in his mouth, he was most definitely a man. He could certainly prove it as well. "Although there are times when I prefer a cigarette but considering where we are.." He let the sentence trail off with a wry smile, not needing to elaborate how inappropriate it would be to smoke right now.
The answer to Ryan's question caught his attention for a brief moment. "Nope, I don't think you're wrong Alaska." Sin stared off at the rest of the party, craning his head to take a view at some of the other hunters who had also joined the party. "People do tend to hide certain aspects of themselves." Giving an easy glance over to Ryan though, he didn't think that Ryan was that bad off though. "For example, I'm pretty horrible in the mornings." Sin was a nocturnal person so anytime that he was forced to wake up early in the mornings.. well, Sin preferred to leave it at that.
"Putting that aside, I wonder how long we're going to wait? All this formality isn't my style." To further prove on his point, he tugged a bit to loosen his tie with a sigh.

"No." The reply came to Stormy pretty much instantly. "No one is waitin' fer me an' Ah'm not waitin' on anyone." She smiled a bit too bitterly before trying to prop it back into a happy one. "An' yer wit' Candace? Ah really like her, she's super nice! Let me borrow some clothes once when mine got all ruined."
Perhaps Ofelia needed to see her again some day. Catch up with the old instead of swim with the new?

At the end of the room, a frown tugged at the corner of Aria's lips as she scanned the crowd of hunters. "Lance," she began, leaning down close to him. "I don't suppose you know what the Mist budget is like...?"
"Hm?" Lance's gaze remained level as he looked at Aria. "Yeah, we've got plenty. Why?"
"It's just. Well. I think a couple of our trainees could greatly benefit from a mandatory wardrobe update. Some of the-" She stopped as she looked away from the crowd, noticing where Lance was looking. With a tsk Aria straightened up and shoved Lance's face away, the heat on her face simmering as she did her best to ignore his laughter as well as the arm that snaked around her waist in a quick hug.
"Don't worry about it. They'll have to deal with it tonight, otherwise I'll personally go through their closets and do a clean-out myself." Lance looked thoughtful, adding, "Kinda makes you wonder what they're hiding in there, doesn't it?"
Aria made a non-committal sound.

The responses she received from both Jake and Ofie left her feeling a little bit hollow. Ofelia felt like she was bothering her and Jake was… Jake. Bittersweet sadness tugged at her heart, though Sherry didn’t think she was actually sad. That wasn’t the right word for it. It was something else she couldn’t place. Sherry sighed. Maybe now wasn’t the best time to talk with Ofelia, not if she was going to be emotional this easily. Not here, anyway. Rown Text to Ofie: We should talk, though! After this fancy dress party, maybe? I’d like some time to talk with you. <3 Putting her phone away, Sherry moved to catch up with Jake, which wasn’t all that difficult. “I’d rather talk with you right now.” That was it. She felt like she was choosing between them. Which was silly because she knew she didn’t have to do that. Or maybe she was just wishing she didn’t have to. It hurt, a small ping of ache in her chest, to think that her friends were sad or hurt or angry and… She wondered how Stormy was. After everything and… She hoped the girl didn’t hate her. Stormy had to know Sherry didn’t hate her, right? Sherry let out another sad sigh. She was wearing a pretty dress. She shouldn’t be sad in a pretty dress. Mission briefings were also no place for sadness. Though she wouldn’t have counted them as places for pretty dresses, either. “I do kind of wish they’d get this started already.”

He was beginning to feel a little less nervous than before. Maybe he could do this. Maybe he could begin to understand what it was that was going on inside of his head, inside of his heart.
Maybe he could get rid of some of the awful tightness in his chest every time his phone buzzed.Ol-j-man Text to Stormy:I'll come find you when the moment's right. Too forward, he thought, and tried to hit delete and accidentally hit send.
Bollocks.Ol-j-man Text to Stormy:I'll keep an eye out for Jake and Sherry. Which he did, a moment later, pushing away from the wall he was currently leaning against and weaving his way through the throngs of hunters to find the dark haired young man. He was standing with Sherry, to whom Gale gave a small nod, sliding his hands into the pockets of his slacks.
"Hey."

Her name was Maybe? That was unconventional and unfamiliar, Mimsy thought, almost pitying her for the inevitable amount of explanation that such a name would require. < Mimsy could mean 'maybe', or something even worse; you still don't know, nillywig!> Svensyl chided. This time, he had a fair point. She didn't tell him as much. The wall-guarding excuse, however, was excellent enough to almost deserve some praise. Later. "This is certainly one of the most dire duties I have ever been assigned," she added helpfully, expression grim. "To be assigned something of such incomparable difficulty directly out of the pod will make the inexorable assignments of your future much simpler." As sarcastic as it sounded, she'd preferred any other assignment to her first one. Including the two missions in which she'd 'died'.

Of course. He should have known. Jake turned around to face her, heaving a sigh. "There's nothing to say. I told you, don't worry about it." Part of him did still sort of hold a grudge against Ofie, as it was her fault this whole thing between him and Sherry ended up going to hell, not to mention she had attacked her. In truth, the only reason he didn't mind her seeing her now was because the hunter wouldn't dare do anything stupid with nearly all the hunters present, would she? But then again, he had no control over Sherry's actions. She could do as she pleased, and even if it made him uncomfortable, he had no right to stop it.
Sherry's second comment eased his mind from the matter as he let out a huff. "Same here." Really, he was absolutely useless here. If a fight broke out, he couldn't help, not with his injuries still healing and... lack of weapon.
Before he could languish more in this thought, a voice distracted him, and as he looked up (or down?), he tensed, averting his gaze from the death hunter.
"...Gale."

"Oh! Oh no, I came with Nevada," Stormy explained with a shake of her head. "I haven't seen Miss Candace yet, but I bet she's here . . . But that's nice of her! She's a princess, you know." A sort of Disney Princess.
Her phone went off and Stormy had to reread the line a few times, wondering if she was overthinking again. She made a soft musing sound to herself.xkurotomato Text to GaleDon't be. But thank you. Keep me updated. "So have you ever been on a mission like this before?" Stormy then went to ask Ofelia.
