KQ is good... unfortunately, development stopped and you'll be stuck on the game sooner or later. But it's fun while it lasts.
Also, battle of wesnoth. Not really an RPG, but with it being turn-based, and characters that can be upgraded and whatnot, it has some similarities.

I don't know if it's been mentioned already, but...
PlaneShift, it's alright. It's still in development and I didn't really play it much but everyone there loved it (I found the controls too difficult to even play).

I started playing Vendetta Online recently, and I must say, I love it! though I pay via paypal, so the monthly fee of 10 dollars is 13 dollars.(but, the traditional "Buy this much more time and it costs this much less per month!" applies)
