Ua bounded over to him, her mouth so wide, a bird could have made a nest in it. "You're my uncle? Oh that's so cool." Her eyes darted around as her mind raced. "so THAT's why you're so much fun! I inherited my fun-ness from you~! It explains everything! And we both have yellow. YAY!" She was so happy. Never before had she met a relative. Wow! This was... this was the best day ever!

Well, that wasn't such a bad reaction for her to have. In fact, it was rather a flattering response to it, which certainly made him smile despite the fact that this was a cub of Kilango he was faced with. She certainly seemed nothing like the Kilango he'd know as a cub, if anything that was a clear sign that Kilango herself had changed. Just like she'd said. It didn't make up for much right now, though.

"So it does," he said finally, a bit lost for words now.

"You don't sound excited." She pouted. "You knew, didn't you? And you didn't tell me." Then she decided to make the best of it and smiled coyly. "You think you can keep your secrets from me, spy, but it is I who knows all."

She pawed at him. "Now, I have to know." She wagged her tail excitedly as her own little climax. "Do you have any children?" what she was really asking: did she have any cousins. Because if she did, they had to be fun just. like. her. Sweet~!

"No no," he reassured her, finally managing to get over himself and smile at her, "I'm just surprised, I didn't know my sister was going to have cubs." Not like she'd tell him, but that didn't matter and wasn't the point. When Ua pawed at him demanding information on any cubs of his own, he chuckled and shook his head.

"I'm afraid not," he said, "But you have lots of family, I assure you. Are you my only niece or does Kilango have any more little ones running around?"

It was so weird to be asking that in such a cheerful tone, but Habu hid the awkwardness he felt.

"Well~ I have three brothers but no sisters," she pouted. Sisters would have been fun. They could have done all sorts of things like have sibling wars, show her brother just how good girls were at boy things. "Well Mommy didn't tell me about you so we're even!" That wasn't exactly how it worked but she didn't know any better and always liked to make things at least seem ok.

"And now that you know me, you have to come visit and play with me sometime, 'kay?" She thought of something clever to say next. "You know what? I'm giving you a nickname. From now on, you're Uncle Wawa." She smiled and wagged her tail. "Yes, that's a good name!"

Three nephews, one niece. Four seemed like so many, especially unexpectedly! But Habu knew it wasn't uncommon for litters to be big, after all- Bibi had 5 in her last bunch, after all!

"I guess so," Habu said, managing to smile when Ua said her mother hadn't mentioned him. Kilango said she changed, but still had not come to see their father (as far as he knew) .. she didn't tell her cubs about them. Was she really that scared of them, even though she said she missed them so much.

"Of course I will, Ua," he replied at her demand of visits every once in awhile, it was something simple and she seemed nice enough- as long as he wasn't ambushed by a visit from his sister, he wouldn't mind. Then Ua decided to give him a nickname.

And came up with Wawa.

".. well, it's a new one," he mumbled, wondering how he kept ending up with such .. interesting nicknames, "Alright, but I'm just going to call you Ua, ok?" Habu smiled.

She nodded vigorously. "That's good to know," she declared. "And Uncle Wawa it is! I'm a genius, ya know!" She was very proud of coming up with a nickname no one else had. Surely that made her's the best nickname he could ever have. But just to make sure... "And no one else can call you Uncle Wawa, 'kay? Only I get to call you that!"

Wahabu smiled at Ua, "With family like me, you couldn't be any less than a genius." He winked at her, quite pleased now that the shock factor was gone. "Alright, no one else can call me that. You should start thinking up a clever name like that for your great uncle Mafuriko."

Oh, he knew Riko would just love having a silly name.

Habu chuckled.

"Really?" she exclaimed. "Oh neat! This means like... I could know everything and not even realize it." She looked at her paws almost as if they were magical or would suddenly become wings or something of that nature. She was so excited that it took her a couple minutes to realize he had said something else, something about a great uncle. "Oooh. Oh yes, I should, shouldn't I?" her face broke into a very wide smile. "And I can surprise him by already having a nickname ready for him. How will I recognize him though?" Would she?
PostPosted: Fri Nov 30, 2007 8:53 pm

"You'll know who he is," he assured her, and Habu knew he wouldn't tell Riko about this. Riko might be bossy and obnoxious but being found and known by a mysterious green cub wasn't going to cause any harm, "He's a very pale yellow color, with blue eyes and a red stripe from his nose to his tail. And on his shoulder he has a red swirl."

He stood up to use his own body to help demonstrate how these markings went, nodding in particular to his spotted shoulder when referring to the red swirl.

"That reminds me of where I was headed, actually," he said, smiling down at Ua, "I'd take you with me, but I think you should talk to your mother first." If Kilango was still hiding out, Habu had to respect that. Kilango couldn't help something like this happening, but he had promised her to keep her a secret until she reintroduced herself to their father. He hadn't exactly kept that promise, but he could keep this one. If Riko knew, it would definitely get out.

With a vigorous nod of her head, she took in everything he said and vowed she'd keep a lookout. "Yea, I should probably go talk to my mom." Then she paused ...and remembered that she had sneaked out of the den while supposed to be sleeping. Surely her brothers had noticed and one probably tattled on her, darn brothers. So with an apologizing look at her newfound uncle, she turned to rush off. "Gotta go!" she called, making for the den at a mad dash. Oh she hoped she wasn't in too much trouble. Goodness, goodness.

Habu nodded approvingly, noting the astonishing difference between Ua and cub-Kilango. Kilango got more love and respect as a mother than she'd ever given their mother, and part of Habu hoped she realized that and regretted it. Not that she'd get much of a chance to apologize with their mother having runoff, of course. He recognized the sudden expression and farewell as signs of having sneaked away, or having forgotten something important but he thought the first idea most likely.

"Goodbye!" he called after her, and watched her go. Then, instead of turning to go and see Bibi and Kiwi as he'd planned, he turned back towards his own den to go and tell Intombi, if she was around.
