 Childish though he was, Shin did hold one advantage in age, he knew how to be patient, and in the hunt, patience was invaluable. In reality it did not take him so long to reach the chosen spot as his brother thought, arriving only a few steps behind, having paused for a moment while one of the larger creatures looked his way.
"Chill out, Kiv, I'm right here."
Orange eyes narrowed, ears turned forward, his tail dead still. The young hunter stood still, alert, his posture low, one forepaw a step forward, every muscle coiled for the charge that was to come.
Quietly he watched the prey, another step forward, toward the unsuspecting beast. Another step, closer, judging the distance between them, weighing it against the strength of his own stride. Their prey remained unaware, but others in the herd grew restless. The moment to strike was now, another instant and the opportunity would be lost, the hunter lunged.

Kiv refrained from making a quirk retort, biting his tongue so as not to risk loosing their breakfast. He just hoped his stomach wasn't rumbling as loud as it seemed it was! It irked him to trail his older brother and wait for HIM to make the decisions, but he knew it was probably the best idea (and his stomach would thank him later). But that definitely didn't mean Kiv was gonna let Shin have all the glory!
He followed closely behind his brother, muscles tensed and senses alert to any shifts in the wind, or the mood of the herd around them. So far so good, though some of the gazelle nearest them seemed to be tenser and wary. Kiv was careful to mirror his brother's moves, watching his every step to make sure he didn't give away their position.
... almost there...
C'mon, were close enough already! He groaned mentally, unable to take the overwhelming scent of gazelle that surrounded him. He saw his brother tense and knew what was coming. With a jerk he darted forward --
CRACK.
-- Kiv's paw landed on a dry branch at the same instant his brother lunged towards the prey.

Hell...
He would have facepawed were he not in mid-leap, charging toward his prey with talons extended, jaws parted in a hunter's snarl. But the advantage of surprise had been lost, the herd alerted to their presence by a misstep that had sent the prey thundering in a panic, fleeing the claws of the lurking hunters.
Unwilling to give up, Shin raced after his prey, hoping that his brother had followed behind, if the two of them worked together they might still catch their meal. Talons curled, paws reaching out for the beast, seeking to catch it's legs, to pull it to the ground for an easy strike.
The prey darted from the hunter's grasp, running one way then the other, attempting to lose his pursuers even as the hunter lept at it with each turn. The creature screamed as talons sank into it's hide, the hunter catching a hind leg with his talons. A sharp kick of hind legs, striking at the predator in an attempt to dislodge his grip. A snarl as hooves impacted sharply against his chest, talons tearing through hide to reach empty air, tumbling to the earth with a shock of pain.
Damn it! Shin stood to his paws, shaking his hide free of the dust that had clung to him. The prey had been lamed, but it had escaped his grip. It seemed breakfast would have to wait, and he would never hear the end of it.
