I''m sure it will never be used again...I was the last member who was in guard the year it happened, and I graduated.

That''s quite a shame... It''s a very funny story

Well, one of the juniors was right on the 50, in front, adn we did a rowboat or something, and BAM her strap comes undone, revealing her about-to-fall-off strapless bra. Man, she bolted behind the pit, red as the costumes xd

That... is freaking... hilarious rofl

Though I will admit that strappless bras SUCK... I ended up with one at my waist before we were allowed to use clear straps. Which I constantly forget anyway >
its the story we tell new kids when they complain about the unitards. "The ONE year we didn;t use unitards..." They usually complain a little less.

We don't really have a rookie story... but I would imagine a story like that would make them a little happier about unitards lol
How about this one... we are all responsible for getting our equipment into the guard bag before we leave the school. Last year, one of the other guards forgot hers... She had to stand out on the field and do the routine pretending to have equipment. That would be bad enough, but band was in the stands. We were just eight colorguard standing in the middle of a football field, one without a rifle... Now we quadruple check the guard bag, and every guard member counts to be certain.

o_O You mean she air-twirled it?!? That's a big no-no for us. It looks bad. If someone's missing equipment, they just have to march at attention. Sure, that doesn't look too great either, but it's better than waving your arms around like a fool.

Oooh.... I forgot a good story.... Last winter we had a turn-around toss. It took me a while to get it, since I was a freshman. I kept chickening out. So one time I forced myself to turn, missed the flag, and it landed of my foot.
I figured it would just bruise and get better, but it never bruised. It didn't hurt bad, but it hurt, and the pain wouldn't go away. I ignored it and kept marching.
A week after it landed on my foot, I accidentally hit another guardie in the arm with my flag cuase our drill was off. She ended up with a hairline fracture and couldn't march for two days.
Another week later, my foot still hadn't stopped hurting from the turn-around. I went to the doctor, and it turned out I had a hairline fracture in one of the bones of my foot, and I had been marching on it for two weeks.

So I've broken bones with a flag..... not just my own. And I competed on a broken foot that I didn't even know was broken. By the time I found out about it, it was too late to do anything, so it's probably not quite the same as it used to be... my foot, that is.

Easy solution: bring a sling and have her put it on so it looks like she has a broken arm.

But yeah, Merewyn, I can actually top that. My freshman year, for indoor, there were only 2 guardies (we had to spin in the drumline show. fun, but...) and the other one broke her ankle, so it was just me, a freshman. Well, I was so nervous I left all of my equipment in my bag right inside the band room door...So they made me do it anyway. In the end I danced for the first part (I sucked at dancing. I had all of the grace of a lame duck, and the know-how of a dead one) and then stood next to the gong for the rest of the show. (They DID let me hit the gong in the show. That was worth it, IMO)

New oops for everybody from my last competition.

The NorthEast has been getting POUNDED by rain for over a week, so last weekends competition was inside. In the school Auditorium. Not the gym. The Auditorium...

Well, they also had the trophy table up right where the guard was performing. And I was standing SMACK next to it. We do a dance for the first 16 counts of our first song, and then stick work. After picking up our flag, I stood up and started stick work. And hit... the trophy table. ALL of the trophys went down in a domino effect. Thank GOD only one of them was damaged (it fell off the end of the table). But I turned beat red and got so nervous, I dropped the next toss and forgot my solo at the beginning of our second song. Totally. Forgot.

So there is the new oops for the week... lets hope that I do better at our home competition this weekend.

I'm such a klutz that I'd probably do that trophy thing too... prime example of my klutzyness right here:

*sigh* Wednesday night at rehearsal, I was practicing song 2 work and wound up for a parallel toss - while standing on my silk. Smack! Huge lump right above my left eye, hit so hard the skin split. So I have a lump, a bruise, and a cut, all at the same time.

It made me luagh so hard, though. Our flag tech saw me and asked if I was laughing to hide my pain. I said yeah, cause I was crying at the same time. lol, it hurt so bad. xd sweatdrop

I did a simple speed toss, missed the flag and gave myself a black eye right before we went out to perform.

I almost choked a girl my freshman year with a streamer during our first performance.

I've thrown flags in anger and almost hit people.

Not too many oops moments for me.

I don't get to have many oops moments since I'm not in a guard.. I do have a few though.

-Was trying to toss a flag and it ended up on top of the sidewalk cover. Thankfully there was a nice tall guy nearby.
-Smacked the band director while trying to do a lollipop. The few band members around loved that.
-Hit someones parent with a rifle. Really, they walked into that.. if they had of watched where they were going then they wouldn't have been hit. Maybe. ninja
-And of course.. I've given myself many, many bruises.

Nothing overly great, sorry. XD

Oh my lord. I have SO many bruises. Currently I have 20 on my body and only 6 or 7 of them are my fault!

I have officially just counted and beat you out Sqwuak. 36. THIRTY FREAKIN SIX. Most of which are from murdering myself with a specific move that my guard instructor wants in my solo and having to practice it in the mud. Mud is very slippery.... very slippery indeed. So yea, between arms, legs, a very odd bruise on my side (I think it's from that dance move thing when I fell and landed on my flag) and my head... 36. Owned Sqwuak. Lol, you've been owned.

Hah.. owie..
Why do bruises have to hurt so much? T-T

Squawk - Only 6 or 7 your fault? O.O Guard abuse!! xd
Deadly - Just how did you land on your flag? Was it on the ground or on the way to the ground... or what..
Either way... that must have hurt very much..

@ DeadlyPoison695: Yeah. I guess I have, hmm? But I'm sure I'll have more before the season is out.

@ ~[Frivolous]~[Maverick]~: They hurt, but you get some awesome stories out of it. My teachers didn't believe me at first when I swore that I wasn't being abused at home and that it was all pretty much self-inflicted. xd

Most of them are from a certain someone next to me in rifle block that I shall not name. stare

alright, not my story, but it's completely wonderful. it comes from Max, a trumpet player. tis the story of the guard at his old school.

there was a part in their show where the guard brings out a big inspirational banner and everyone in the audience is supposed to be so moved that they stand up and cheer. at one of their competitions they accidentally laid the banner about a yard line over from where it was supposed to be on the sideline, and then when they brought it out over the field, they clotheslined the entire trumpet section! and yet, the band still managed to make 1st place in the contest O_O

arrow Maverick - I don't know how on earth I landed on it, but I did. I think it was on its way to the ground and I tripped over it somehow and landed on it. I really couldn't describe it if I tried XD.

arrow Squawk - We'll all have more before end of season. And as for rifle line, that's why our instructor doesn't let us use rifles anymore crying

arrow Froggy - That's just freaking hilarious. But trumpet sections are getting back at us for that. A trumpet closelined me the other day because I backed up to far during my solo. Completely took me out flag and all.
