Deitric probably checked himself in too.

Because, you know, head trauma can really ******** someone up.

So he'd probably stay there for the first two days of his "rest" time between the bouts. Mostly for healing, and with the secondary purpose of not dealing with the press.

"So boy...I see you've only been in that god forsaken place a few month's and you've already pushed yourself to the complete limit. I must say, as a grand mother, I'm quiet proud. You would have died out there if it required it. All for victory. That is worthy of the blood of our family."

Her voice. It was one so powerful and majestic that it would rile the dead to militaristic attention. It was a voice that held the weight of a thousand years. The shocking tone of her every word snatched him away from the pleasant emptiness of total unconsciousness and into a quasi-reality of pain and agony. Tres did not open his eyes, he did not need to. The shift into this "consciousness" was but a sudden flash into clarity of a world that was unclear.

The Dream Scape. The plane of dreams. Upon Tres seeing the totally subjective swirl of dream matter and the figure that stood amongst the shifting storm, he knew instantly where he was. He had been there before. He had seen this person before and knew her well. She was one of the people who had raised him as a warrior.

The Divine Masta Killa - Xai Lu Ecstuffuan

She was the perfect mix of beauty and power. She was tall, seven foot four , a giant amongst humans. Her skin was tanned and her complexion was perfectly clear as if her body did not contain a single impurity. Her asian desert yellow hued gaze was sharp, a unblinking stare that pierced the cosmos. Her beautiful visage did not hold a single wrinkle and did not even hint at her old age. Her hair was not grey as it should have been but they seemed to be full healthy strands of silver bound together to form long dread locks that hung from her hair.

She wore a garb woven of astral matter that had a subtle light green glow and a amber hued jian was strapped on her waist, thin slightly transparent gauntlets that were seemingly made of gold covered her hands and greaves of a similar design covered her shins. Her feet were bare. Her aura was intense and imposing, and immediately as Tres became aware of her presence the environment suddenly and yet smoothly shifted to form the image of her home, a Chinese styled temple high on a chilly mountaintop, somewhere in Asgard.

"Grand Master Ecstuffuan"

Tres would immediately kneel to show respect to his master. He didn't do this for Sieg or Athena, because they did not ask it of him but Xai-Lu was old school and you had to be proper. Tres only then became aware of himself and as he did he was in that instance clothed as he had been before his last battle.

"You should be dead. Your body lost so much blood and the chill should have frozen your insides. Yet...Somehow, you are still alive. Do you know why boy?"

"No Master", She stepped closer and would cup his chin to tell him to rise. For all purposes however, she pulled the boy up by his chin. Tres's body still felt weak even though he wasn't actually inside of his body.

"Because you are an Ecstuffuan. Your only capable of a death worthy of a god. Also, because you got guts kid. You don't have your mothers magic or your fathers spiritual power but what you have even more than any of them...is heart. You would have made the ultimate sacrifice to fight as hard as you could. That heart of yours is what will make you stronger than all of us.

However. You aren't your father, you aren't your mother, and you damn sure ain't me. So you best get smart kid. You don't have the luxury of going all out like that and expect me to fight another day...not yet...

but tell me...

What did you learn in that battle?"

"Well, if it isn't Miss Xai herself."

Athena stood at the doorway into Tres's room, having heard of what happened to him in his last match. As his parent, she was contacted his condition, and so came down here to see if he was okay. In truth, she had came after watching his match live, seeing the injuries he had taken. She worried about her son, maybe more than Sieg, and that is why she had to come down here as a mother. It was just a let down when she saw Sieg's own mother here in the same room.

It seemed like silence followed as her eyes stared at the woman, a deep hatred brewing from that conversation she had with Sieg about how powerful the woman was. Athena was going to prove that she could stand up to Xai and surpass her. But she did not know how confident she really was in doing that. Athena feared no one in her life other than two people: her father...and this woman.

"Hmph. So you found your way in"

Xai Lu was for all intents and purposes a god. Her presence on the prime material plane was unwarranted even if her grandson had just narrowly escaped death. So she did not speak to Tres on the physical plane. Regardless, On the physical plane Tres's body was broken and beaten to the point where communication was impossible. She spoke to Tres in the dream plane. The dream plane was the place where ones consciousness traveled during dreams. The plane was a highly morphic plane that was manipulated by the unconscious desires, fears, will, and personalities of the individuals who dwelled within it.

However, Powerful Wizards and Sorcerers could travel to the plane as easily as opening a door and Athena qualified as such. Xai-Lu wasn't surprised to see her form suddenly shift into there presence. Tres would turn his head to see his mother and he would rise from his kneeling position, walk over to Athena and give her a big hug. Tres was a violent and head strong child but that did not mean he did not love his mother as any other boy would. Tres would release his mother from his embrace and say,

"Hey Mom"

"Aww isn't that cute.

Its a shame really though boy. You will have to go through her too if you want to claim your dream. Though believe me, I still remember that warmth of human emotion, and I tell you now cherish it while you can."
, Xai-Lu would say in her aged womanly voice.

Xai-Lu would begin to walk closer towards the mother and child. With each step of her bare feet to the ground small cracks would develop from her feet despite the fact that she appeared to take gentle and soft steps. Xai-Lu's soul piercing gaze would shift to Athena and she would look her straight in the eyes.

"Mother is no obstacle in my path master. She could only help me in my persuits."

"Heh, really...

Well that would probrably be true but as martial artist our goals can antagonize us. See your mother here...

She wants to fight sweet ol' granny..."

Xai-Lu would stop when she came face to face with Athena. Xai-Lu's scent was a womanly one but Athena would be familiar with the smell of war. The subtle air of steel and blood surrounded Xai-Lu. The fact that Athena wasn't cowering in Xai-Lu's sheer presence served as a testament to her own power. Athena was a powerful sorcerer and martial artist who's power was quickly surpassing that of Siegs and Xai-Lu knew this. Yet, Xai-Lu wasn't threatened.

"Because she wants to be just like her when she grows up.

Ain't that right girl."

When you got up close to Xai-Lu and you gazed deep into her eyes, it was like looking into a diamond. Inside of her shimmering optics were hundreds of faces in a shifting crystalline formation. On each face was a memory of a different battle. It seems that Xai-Lu had been spending a lot of time on the planes Asgard and the abyss. As a demi-diety, Xai-Lu was making a play in the divine world to claim the portfolio of war.

Beep.

What th-

Beep.

That my alarm clock?

Beep.

Damn that's annoying...

The blonde swordsman's eyes finally popped open to stare at a heart monitor wired up to his bedside. He was wrapped up in a lot of blankets, and there was a tray of food sitting at his bedside. His hand was bandaged up, and he felt sore all over, particularly in the muscles on his left side.

"Nngh...damn."

He sat up, reaching up to rub his forehead with his right hand. Why was he in a hospital, and why wasn't he back at the hotel? Wasn't there a tournament still going on?

"Where the hell's the other guy?"

Memories flashed back to the final moments of the fight, where time had expired just as the two fighters descended into the frozen abyss. Reyin flinched at the memory, then threw off his sheets.

There was a benefit to not being hooked up to IVs. Even though Reyin was in a hospital gown, he was still well enough to stand up. The downside to having nearly been frozen to death was that the moment he tried to actually move his muscles, they sparked with a feeling similar to that of having thousands of pins and needles pushed into them. His brief bid for freedom was temporarily halted, but eventually Reyin sucked it up and pulled himself out of bed.

A nurse almost immediately rushed in, as the heart monitor was disconnected and started flatlining. Reyin threw her a puzzled look, and despite her pleas to get him back into bed, he walked past her.

Reyin's quest didn't take long. Tres and Reyin were adjacent to one another in the Intensive Care Unit. The only problem was, Reyin couldn't exactly get in to see the guy, because his mother was standing in the way.

Reyin, unlike his parents, was a pretty polite kid. So he didn't say anything to the woman who stood in his way. He just stood out in the hallway, trying to sneak a peak of what sort of condition Tres was in.

"Tres, stay back."

Athena made sure to give Tres this warning, because she was not going to have her son get caught in the crossfire of a possible breakout of a fight. Even though they were currently inbetween plains, Athena knew that whatever could happen would happen in both the dream plane and the physical plane. Athena was hating the fact that she was feeling like this. Whenever she felt something such as fear, she did her best to destroy the feeling for the sake of redemption. For Xai to be standing here like this with this hold over her was like an insult to who she was. Athena was the champion of the fighting world. She was the strongest woman, and she was not going to have someone like Xai prove otherwise.

Her teeth gritted, her fist tightened, and the energies within her body went wild, both magical and chi related. The aura burst itself from around her, causing her hair and dress to go into movement as if a wind had just passed through the room. Her eyes took on a more deadly look as they stared at Xai, a glow coming from within them as power flooded her body. Moving her right foot forward, she brings her hands forward, having them hang loose at the wrist, but the joints of her hands in a relaxed fixed position, appearing in a stance similar to one a Chinese martial artist would assume. Her right hand was at chest level, but the left hand more at the height of the face.

"You seem to be wrong, Mother of Sieg. I do not want to be like you. Why do I want to be like someone who is already weaker than me? If you think you have what it takes to fight me, then let's go."

She did not know whether she was showing extreme confidence or was covering over the fact that she maybe could not win against Xai, not as her current self. But she was going to at least try, letting her aura continue to surround her body as she enters into the Perfect Concentration. It was an art Athena had perfected during her time away from Gaia. It allowed her to focus all aspects of her being into a sync that allowed her to use her abilities at their most efficient. Punches became as powerful as grenades, her spells capable of causing a skyscraper to fall after several successive blows, her body capable of withstanding bullets from a gun. To instantly enter into such a meditative state was proof that she was at master status in using both her mind and body to their best.

But being legendary was another entirely different league that she had not reached yet. She just kept denying herself the fact that even now, after eighteen years, she was still not strong enough to reach the top of the ladder. And yet, the woman before her...

"Unless you are scared."

Xai-Lu in comparison to Athena seemed very calm, almost frigidly so. Athena's own aura was powerful enough to cause the dream world around them to shift chaotically. The force of her own aura would cause Athena's hair and dress to flutter as if there were a powerful gust and in the dream world...there would be.

Tres would back away and then stumble as a result of his mothers power but Xai-Lu, she just stood there. Not a hair on her body would waver and she would simply continue to look Athena in the eye with that wry grin on her pretty yet old face. Athena would begin to shift in her stance, right lead forward hands coming up with the wrist limp. Xai-Lu knew the style, Tai-Chi Quan the opening movements.

There would also be a sudden but strange shift in Xai-Lu's physical form. On the center of her forehead a horizontal line would develop and suddenly a large round eye would open on her forehead. What seemed to be a violet halo would manifest just above her forehead. Athena would feel something she had not felt before.

The arcane forces of the soul and the mind, spiritualism and psionics did not exist within Xai-Lu as individual phenomenon as they did in all creatures. If Athena was so sensitive in her supernatural perception she would realize that the energies had consolidated themselves into what could only be described as divine force or cosmic power.

"heh"

The force of the gods would spread out in the range of Xai-Lu's aura. Taking an absolute control over the dream matter that was within her aura with the pure force of divine will. She took her stance differently. There would be no movement and in an instance instead she would simply be in her position.

She took the same simple stance she taught her son and his son. She took the same stance she had been using and perfecting for a hundred years. She taught her son and her grandson a single truth about the beings that called themselves deities. What made them so powerful was not there inherent strength from being a god but the absolute perfection of there technique and themselves.

"Unless you-", Athena would be interrupted.

keen!

A sound like a vorpal blade cutting through a dragons hide would resonate through the dream matter of the plane. There was no supernatural power involved in this but it was merely the effect of Xai-Lu throwing a right low muay thai roundhouse to the inside of Athena's right thigh. The aim of the technique was so focused and so precise that the shin would have the ability to cut through any object as if it were a vorpal weapon, meaning it can cut through anything. The kick would come up quickly at an upwards angle in an arching path at the target. Her technique was perfect and performed with such a lack of effort that there would be no telegraph. It would happen like a stroke of thunder being cast from the heavens and like thunder hearing it and then reacting would be far too slow.

The effects of the kick would resonate through the dream plane and Xai-Lu's sheer will to divide and cut would cause an effect to develop. An invisible wave of what could be described as cutting energy would move at a slow pace forward from Xai-Lu's position. This cutting energy however was simply the effect of Xai-Lu's will on the highly morphous nature of the dream plane.

Nothing Xai-Lu would do would have any effect on the physical plane.

Confidence could only go so far. Athena did not even realize what had just happened until it was too late. Maybe what Sieg said was true. Maybe his mother really had become a god. And if so, then she was nothing more than a mortal faking to reach the stars in power. Pain was the second thing a person would feel from an attack, as the first would be sheer shock. The kick's power caused this effect, completely negating the effect of pain coming into existence in her right leg. Though her spirit would keep her "dream leg" from being lobbed off, the force from it alone was enough to completely disable it. And as if she was affected in the physical world, she falls onto her right knee, doing the same in reality.

Athena was speechless, her stance broken and her hands open wide, stopping her from falling on her face as she now sat there on her hands and left knee, her right leg numb and useless. Her teeth were gritting tightly to try to subdue the aftershock of the pain that was about to come, her entire body going into tension as her brain registers what just happened.

And then she falls onto her left shoulder, both hands coming to her leg as she holds it, her body shaking as she forces herself to silence the cry that tries to come from her mouth. Tears start to well up in her eyes, only using her will to keep them from falling down her cheeks. The pain she was now feeling was worst than anything she had felt in her entire life. Her physical leg was fine, but her mind was in so much shock that for the moment, it was as if she was in an illusion of having a broken leg.

Xai was the real deal.

"Master Stop!"

Tres shouted as he jumped in the vortex of conflicting powers, in between his mother and his master. Tres would hold her with his back to Xai-Lu, also in a crouch to allow his large frame to form a buffer between them.

"Oh please", she said as she spun to a neutral stance. Now it seemed as if her voice was no longer coming from just her body but every point in space in a 360 degree radius. It was a voice of total omnipotence.

"She isn't hurt, she is too strong for that. I wouldn't have allowed her to marry my son if this was all that she was made of. Stand up Athena, this is the dream plane and your will be done.", She said now in a neutral position. She honestly didn't think Athena was hurt. She was alluding to the fact was if ones will was strong enough the plane could be manipulated by them. She was telling Athena to put the overwhelming and shocking pain out of mind and the effects themselves would vanish.

She would walk away from the two.

"I like you athena I really do, you remind me of me, but I also demand respect, Even from family and let me tell you this girl. Do not ever wish to be the strongest.", She said looking out into the center of the dream plane, into the endless void that served as the gate to the temporal plane. It was a strange thing for Xai-Lu to say.

"Because at least for myself. I would simply die if I knew that I had no more challanges. For as martial artist, challanges bring meaning to our existance.

This is my blessing to you Athena.

Know that your new goal is no longer hear amongst the mortals. You and Sieg, focus your attention on those who call themselves gods and defeat them as you have defeated your mortal peers.

As for You Tres. Fight to become what your parents have.

hmm, I think Sieg is coming..."

She said, looking off at some angle to the upper right.

"Mom!"

The voice like rolling thunder in the heavens served as a testament for the arrival of Sieg Ecstuffuans mind unto the dream plane. The sheer power and majesty of his voice would seem to pierce the omnipotent seeming sphere of presence that Xai-Lu had in Tres's dream.

The dream matter would shift and roll unto itself to form Siegs image. Sieg was a master of lucid dreaming, it was how he was able to perfect his technique as Xai-Lu had done in the last seventeen years. The first thing that would come into view was the desert yellow eyes and his perfect ebony body would form around it.

Sieg would be standing to Athena's left and he had a rather irate look on his hansom face. Sieg was not clothed but because no one in here would care to look at his censored parts they would simply not be seen and covered in a transparent fade. Siegs right hand was on Athena's shoulder and something about that contact, even though it was not real, something about it would reassure Athena and that would mean a lot in a world that was controlled by feeling alone.

"What do you think you are doing?"

"She wanted a fight? and don't speak to me in that tone of voice boy!"

"Sorry mot-", Sieg said instinctively with a apologetic look on his face. Sieg then realized what he had said, shook his head, and restored the angry look on his face.

"No, you knew what was going to happen. Mom, You don't do that to my wife."

"heh, Ok I'm sorry", She obviously wasn't by her sarcastic tone of voice.

"Rrr."

"You want some too boy?"

Sieg didn't step forward and that meant that he certainly did not but he still didn't want his mom to push Athena around.

"Just because you think your some kind of god now doesn't mean you can just do whatever you want. You should be helping not hurting people."

"You must have got that whole nice guy thing from your dad, its really cute.", she said with a big grin. She then turned around to face her son while putting her hands on her curvy hips.

"Alright I just taught the girl a lesson, I barely even touched her. You should be more worried about your son. He is the one I came here to visit. You should be proud Sieg, you've made a son worthy of the Ecstuffuan name."

Tres would look up at Sieg and Sieg would smile back down on him. Sieg knew what he had done, Sieg like his mother could speak to the earth and see through its minds eye. It was a method of scrying that Sieg learned from Xai-Lu.

"Yes son. I was very proud of you when I saw what you did but you've got to be more careful with your life. You only get one. Having heart is good but you've got to have a plan so you don't risk so much."

"Yes father."

"Well it seems that its time for me to go, Tres, I'll see you later.", Xai said abrutly and then would turn to walk away. She would slowly vanish off in the distance.

Athena was ashamed to get up. Her eyes closed tightly, all she could think about was what just happened, repeating it over and over in her head to try to get it into realization what Xai just did. Even if the illusion of the attack was fading, her pride was hurt the most, not even wishing to get back up to her feet to confront the woman once again. As soon as she left, Athena finally takes it upon herself to slowly get to her feet, despite her son and husband being here to support her.

Bringing her left hand to her eyes, she hides any trace of a tear, greatly disappointed in herself. Moving her head away, she manages to speak to Tres, though in a manner that was of hushed sadness, combining it with her emotion of instant anger with herself.

"Just remember, Tres: the most important person in a fight is yourself. If you are not happy, there is no point to fighting at all. We all have to find our purpose to fight. And when we do, you must define the goal that you will walk towards with your ability to fight."

She then gains the courage to look toward Sieg, not even having to say any words to tell him what she was going through. A lot of wives would throw themselves onto their husbands and cry their eyes out in sorrow to try to have them understand what they were going through. But Athena was different, stronger, capable of keeping her emotions from spilling out in the form of tears. All she does is just walks up to her husband, placing her arms around his dream body, closing her eyes as she rests her head on his right shoulder, speaking into his ear.

"I will defeat your mother. Whatever it takes. I will continue to train and fight until the day I can finally defeat her. I must show her that she can be defeated."

Sieg would hold his bombshell in his arms. As strong and imposing as Sieg looked he had the capacity to be as gentle a feather coming down from a short fall. Siegs embrace was one of warmth and solace, and immediately she would feel better.

"You can do it. I know you can. You stood up to her and you will continue to do it again. You've already won a battle that many warriors do not."

Siegs mother, despite her infinite wisdom and experience was a bully and Sieg knew that about her. She was a lot like Athena but unlike Athena she thought her self invincible. Her sheer presence usually scared off most fighters and the fact that Athena was able to get past her intimidation showed a lot. Also Tte fact that Athena admitted weakness was a step towards gaining true Strength.

"and you know I'll help you.

Lets get out of here and let Tres sleep peacefully."

Tres didn't say anything and would just stare at his mother and father with his big blue eyes. Suddenly a thought came over Tres. He thought about the fact that a simple swordsman had just gave him a run of his money and how incredibly powerful his parents and grandparents were. The path to greatness that Tres had dreamed of since he was born suddenly seemed a lot longer once he saw his family together like this.

"Okay."

Athena removes her arms from around Sieg. She had just remembered that he was only here by the dream plane, so in reality, with Reyin peeking in, he will see her hugging the air in actuality. It was a weird scene to see her as if she was talking to herself.

"Tres, good luck."

She looks toward Sieg one last time, noticing that he was in no clothes whatsoever. Even though his censored parts were blurred out, a smile came onto her face, a mischievous one at that.

"And when I get back home, I better see you standing just the way you are right now."

Turning around, she decides to leave before she freaks out Tres with his parents becoming romantic and speaking sexual right there in front of him. No son or daughter ever wanted to see that experience.

Man, Tres was lucky Reyin couldn't read minds, or he'd be getting an earful right now. Even if he was in a kinda-sorta coma.

Regardless, it was indeed a really awkward experience for the blonde. It wasn't every day that you nearly died of hypothermia and then wound up in a room next to the guy who was responsible for the near-death experience. Not like Reyin was totally innocent in the matter, but that was another story.

He stood there, a gathering crowd of orderlies and nurses urging him to return to his room as he kept trying to maneuver his head to get a good look at the fighter within. His frantic head bobbing came to a stop when he saw the woman in the doorway start hugging...the air?

"Uhh..."

Reyin cleared his throat.

"Excuse me...miss?"

Maybe intervention wasn't a good idea at this point, but somebody had to say something.

Athena turns around, and sees someone standing at the doorway in his gown. Then it hit her that this was the man who fought her son, and wasn't in any good of a shape as Tres was. Folding her arms, she tilts her head as she looks toward him, the earrings on ears keeping straight toward the ground.

"And you must be the one who drove my son to the state he is right now, huh?"

Frowning, she was showing disapproval at what happened to that fight. At least, that is what it would look like. In truth, she was happy that Reyin pushed him this far, but she was going to give him a little scare first, like any mother would.
