Eyes narrowed, burning with the firey glare of death and hatred, tail lashing angrily at the earth beneath. He was furious, growl growing louder with each step, again breaking into a snarl as her jaw tightened on his neck.

"OW!! Stop that!"

He snorted, refusing to retract his talons, fangs bared though he could not bite, hanging awkwardly from her jaws, his body twisted, frozen in mid-thrash. Stupid, stupid creature! Clearly fighting her was not working, the harder he struggled, the more determined she seemed to 'adopt' him. HE WAS NOT CUTE AND FLUFFY!

But it seemed he would have to employ a different strategy, NOT THAT HE WAS SURRENDERING! However he didn't want to wear himself out, or worse, pull the stupid lioness over onto himself, he would have think strategically, to wait and bide his time, to strike at her when her guard was down, or at least when he could reach that stupid white hide. He could be patient until then, maybe.

But how he hated her so, just wait until he got his claws on her!

It felt like she'd only been sitting there a couple of minutes before the helpless (though violent) flailing she was trying to transport stopped, much to her pleasant surprise. If he would just stay like -that- for a little while toting the little tyke around would be no problem!

Ashling waited for another minute once he'd settled before she decided he wasn't about to get all riled up again -quite- yet, giving her time to carrying him off to... to...

To where? Mother ultimately became the source of that thought, causing Ashling to automatically stand up and turn her attention to that very destination, her tail flicking happily side to side as she trotted along her original path of the morning (though it would leave her carrying the stubborn little thing for a while).

Unfortunately her little ghost wasn't around to help her out right then (always the worst of times!), which led to a lot of something that would probably drive -everybody- crazy: She kept stopping and looking around while 'Hmmmm' ing thoughtfully.

Which way was it...?

Fuming, ears laid flat, he was silent for a time save for the occasion growl, the snap of his tail as if to proclaim his fury, to remind her of the rage that burned inside the cub. Oh the evil plots that formed in his mind, thoughts of just what he would do to the lioness once his paws touched the ground again. Oh yes, then he would have her and she would learn the cost of crossing paths with the god of Conflict.

But how the fire burned, fueling the growl that again echoed in his chest, parting his maw in his snarl. Far from a patient creature, what little he had was quickly wearing thin, his growl growing louder with each step, with each pause. Great, she was lost, some cubnapper she was.

Idiot! He was not a cub, and he did not appreciate being carried around by the scruff of his neck, he wanted down! NOW! With a snarl he fought against her grip again, paws thrashing, reaching for the ground that eluded his grasp.

"You really suck at this. Put me down!"

Another snort, he stilled again, his only consolation that his brother was not here to see him now.
PostPosted: Mon Jun 02, 2008 6:34 pm

Her own frustration was being doubled by the cub's complaints, causing her to jerk her head up further, if only to rattle him a little before continuing, now aimlessly, on her way. Maybe she'd get even more lost, but maybe the darn cub would shut up.

Her last attempt to tell him to 'Oh shut up' had come out -so- well that it had practically -failed- on her. Ashling replied to Tanaka's growling with a little bit of a rumble of her own, tail lashing. If she was still holding onto the thought of keeping a cub that was -slowly- driving her mad, she was going mad faster than she should have been. Somehow she kept her cool, the semi-growling noise she made slowly mellowing back out to it's previous purr.

After some time of walking, Ashling felt the undying desire to just sit down and release the cub to let him stretch his legs.... but she knew that was probably earn a less-than-pleasant chance to recapture him. AKA He'd be out of there -so- fast. That's why it was cubnapping. So she kept the cub in tow as she sat down in a new patch of shade, her mauled eye throbbing in slight-pain to remind her just how.... 'pleasant' the child was. Her desire to play 'mommy', however, overpowered her common sense in this matter.

The sight of some sort of beast grazing off in the distance was something almost pleasing to watch until her stomach panged emptily at her. s**t. She -totally- needed to eat, and food was RIGHT THERE... but the chances of her being able to catch something -and- leave the darn cub there -and- him still be there when she came back was slim...

And this internal debate made a rather unpleasant noise come out of her, tail flicking from side to side. Well.. he -was- only so big and he -could- only get so far...........

......
........

Against her better judgement she set the Godling down. "Stay." she stated firmly, though her jaw whined at her for carrying him around for so long without rest. "Unless you want to find your own meal." she added, looking towards what was going to be -her- next meal.

A purr? She was purring at him?! What the hell was wrong with her?! He wanted to kill her, to rip her throat out leave her lifeless body for the buzzards, and she was PURRING at him. What kind of crazy, idiot of a lion had he run into? Surely even mortals were not so stupid.

She was at least smart enough to realize one thing, as soon as his paws touched the ground he would be gone, never to be caught again unless it was to finish the job of clawing her eyes out. He only had to wait for her to at last grow tired and put him down. Hate, hate, HATE, he did not want to wait any longer, WHY WASN'T SHE TIRED OF CARRYING HIM YET?! He was starting to think she would tear the scruff from his neck before she finally put him down, oh he was NOT happy.

Grumbling, he glared at the ground passing below his paws, a scowl on his maw that just ended up looking like a sulk. It was from the corner of his eye that he caught sight of the herd, snorting as he looked away, again reminded of the disadvantage of his size. Damn his brother, damn him for sending him back to that infernal cubbish form!

And then there it was, ground glorious ground. It was about time! Finally she had been forced to release him. Stay? Hah! He was so out of there!

But wait, he paused in his steps, the bolt that would have carried him far away from the total wacko that insisted on cubnapping him. There was an opportunity there, food, real food, prey larger than the rabbits and badgers he had been eating thus far. Hmmm, well alright, he'd stay for now, until she brought him a beast. Then he'd kill her.

"Fine, but don't expect me to wait long!"

Snort, how humiliating.

Waiting a moment to allow the cub to register both her offer as well as give her a response to it, Ashling then smiled a bit and stood up, stretching her shoulders out a bit, before strolling off into the grass, pausing only once as the wind blew, testing it, before slightly altering her course to go and hide in the grass, her white fur vanishing, mostly, into the plant life.

Which, for her luck, colorblind animals would mostly not be able to see her until she got to an advantageous position. Another upside to being white as opposed to other colors. Her trust in the boy's words was astounding, as Ashling didn't once look back to make sure he didn't vanish. Perhaps because her 'Ghost' was watching him.

(And because Pach is too lame to type out a real hunting scene.... they're kinda boring to me..) From the tree, the herd-beasts could be seen scattering, splitting away from one central point: Hungry animal with muscles and claws and teeth and a penchant for their flesh.

Ashling was obvious amongst the dark animals, her white body sticking out in the scenery as it would in any (aside from the snow), which made the eventual downing of one of the shapes obvious, as well as the actions following it.

Slowly, both the lioness and the downed beast both made their way back to where Ashling had left her 'child', the white lioness dragging the carcass along by the neck in an almost proud way (though it didn't make her jaw feel any better) and eventually plunking it down at the end of the shade, before she left it and went to sit under the tree.

From her experience watching her own mother, children ate first (he couldn't -possibly- eat the whole thing..... could he?). "Go for it." she advised, laying her head on her paws to watch him.

Growling to himself, tail twitching, a paw drumming on the ground, Tanaka waited impatiently for the lioness to return. Eyes narrowed, he watched the hunt. fury burning in his gaze, cursing his small size and wishing he could strike them -all- down with a single glare. Oh if only.

He could have left, vanished into the grass to never see the infuriating lioness again, later he would have most certainly would have asked himself why he hadn't, would have thought that no meal was worth putting up with such a stupid creature. But it was that meal that had kept him waiting, grudgingly and impatient though he was, despite the dark thoughts that brooded in his mind.

Talons sprang from paws, jaws parted for the bite, he was on the beast the moment it had appeared, before the words had left her mouth. He lashed at the lifeless beast, tearing into flesh in a vicious release of all the anger and fury that has been boiling within him, snarling as he tore out a large chunk, savoring each morsel, each drop of blood. Oh how much more satisfying it was that the small prey he had thus far survived on.

Okay, so maybe the lioness had her uses, at least for now. She could hunt for him, and he would eat more than rabbits, then when he had grown, he would kill her and be done with her forever, it was a perfect plan. BUT IF SHE TRIED TO CARRY HIM BY THE SCRUFF AGAIN HE WAS GOING TO CLAW HER EYES OUT!!

The reaction of the little cub practically -mauling- the thing into submission of being eaten implanted a thought firmly into her mind; He -really- likes to rip things apart. Note to self. Let him maul everything you hunt. It seemed like a good idea to her. Give him stress relief or something along those lines.

The care he took in eating was not missed either as Ashling waited for him to finish devouring a.. pretty sizable chunk of the beast to her impression. It was more than she would have eaten as a child. Then again, she was one of five being fed and she had probably been a good size smaller than him in her youth as well.

Carefully moving around the kill to allow the cub ample space to tear his portion of the beast to shreds, Ashling took a certain degree of care in biting out peices of her meal, holding it down firmly with one paw, then tearing a peices out of it, processing it, while watching to see what her little 'child' would do next, before repeating the process.

"So do you come with a name..?" she asked awkwardly before she took one of her bites, barely asking it over a whisper, as she wasn't exactly expecting an answer to it.

In fact, she was expecting a more of a "GO AWAY AND DIE" reaction than a name.

A short growl, the god looked up, shooting a threatening glare at the lioness before his fangs turned again to the carcass at his paws. He wasn't the type to share, on another day he would have slain the creature that dared touch his meal and eaten them instead. But he could not use her if he'd already killed her, so for now he tolerated her presence, so long as she stayed over there, away from his talons.

"Tanaka."

He spoke through his teeth, tearing another chunk out of the beast. He hadn't cared if she knew his name, wouldn't have bothered to give it had she not asked, nor did he care what her name was in return, he tone a statement to such. However knowing her, she would have made up some stupid name for him, and that he would NOT have tolerated, stupid lioness.

At last having eaten his fill, his stomach satisfied, Tanaka yawned, damn that infernal sleepiness brought on by a full belly. A snort and a glare aimed at the lioness, as if daring her to try to snatch him up again, he stepped away from the carcass, flopping onto his side at the base of the tree.

Oh how he hated her, stupid lioness, stupid cubhood, how he longed for the day when he could at last sink his claws into her hide. Patience, he would have to be patient, this lifetime was not off to a good start.

Tanaka

Ashling mulled the name around in her head for a while as she continued to quietly eat, ignoring the 'warning' she received, though it may have been a factor in the distance she kept from him as he ate. Even after the cub had finished eating and yawned in the little tired way that all people whom were subjected to a full stomach had a tendancy to suffer from, she continued to eat quietly.

In fact, her meal continued on it's own way until the cub had taken his little post in what -she- presumed was him going to sleep. Only then did she sit up, staring over at him for a minute. One minute, two.....

Slowly she got up and strode over to him, looking out into the grasses that held any of the beasts that would come and scavenge the remains of the carcass. She growled lightly, before she walked over to the shredded mess and slowly dragged it further out into the open, before returning to the tree and flumping down a couple feet from the cub.

If he wanted his space, she'd let him have it. If he wanted her body-heat, he could come get it himself. For now, Ashling would just watch him.

Eyes half open, he watched the lioness a moment longer, talons flexing once in a last warning. He was not a cuddly creature, and though he tolerated her for now, he did not want her near enough to touch him, he would have frozen to death because sharing her body heat.

He snorted again, fighting back the yawn that parted his maw, falling to the allure of sleep and a warm full belly. In his sleep, his tail twitched, a smirk tugging at the edge of his lips, dreaming of the day he would rend her hide from her flesh, spilling her blood on the cold earth, leaving nothing but scraps for the buzzards.

Oh that day would came, he was an immortal, he could wait.
