In the span of time Andrew was quietly assessing the situation he had found himself in, Kirinao had his mind on other -- yet similar -- matters. Without even realizing that it had grown quiet, the demon tried to figure out where he may have slipped up, where Andrew could have figured out that he'd never been to the store in town. Was it his body language? Or had he said something that may have hinted at it? Maybe the fox was just good at guessing, or worse, didn't actually know but set him up for the trap instead. It's not like it should have mattered much, as he would have found out soon enough anyway, but it still bugged him.

However, it didn't occupy his mind for long, as the answer came sooner than expected, without him even needing to ask it. He faltered briefly in his steps as he caught the question, head turning around slowly. s**t... so he really didn't know! He smirked despite himself. At least he didn't get angry... I should be grateful.

"Well, you're not the only one," he replied with a sheepish grin. At least not anymore. He was used to being out a lot, but... well, things change, whether one likes it or not. Or prefers it. At least Andrew was willing to take the help he was offering now; it would make things a lot more hassle-free in the long run.

And yet, there was that blush again. Kirinao scratched his head, confused. Was he still embarrassed? Or maybe that blush never went away... he knew that, for some people, a red tint to the face didn't leave very quickly, even if the emotion had passed. Maybe that was it... though it wasn't as if he was planning on asking anyway. It was probably awkward enough, talking to the demon like this, without the added question.

He found himself relaxing a bit after he heard the chuckle come from Andrew, not realizing he had been so tense on the matter. Although he hadn't expected it, it ended up calming him down, knowing that he didn't upset Andrew any further. Though, on second thought, it seemed a little out-of-character for the fox. He hadn't come to accept the concept that, just maybe, Andrew was warming up to him. It seemed too far-fetched an idea. So, instead, he kept his guard up, just in case something else came at him unexpectedly.

He quirked an eyebrow curiously, prodding verbally with a, "What do you mean by that?" at the comment about being observant. His smirk told that he was joking, though he was unsure if the fox was making a statement or if he was just being sarcastic on the matter. Either way, it was a good sign. Both showed that Andrew had warmed up to him enough to either take a jab at a compliment, or take a crack at a wry joke. It ended up making Kirinao feel a little foolish to keep his guard up. He was so used to people acting this way to get more information out of him, but this red-tailed fox made no attempt to turn in that direction. On the contrary, he was keeping his space on the matter.

He shrugged to himself and decided to answer either way. "Well, it helps when you train yourself to be. After all, it's a rough world out there. I've been around the block a few times, so I've gotten the hang of looking out for things like this." He didn't mean it in a disrespectful way, but everyone looks out for different things in a place they've never been to before. Kirinao would have preferred to solely look for a safe place to stay when he got into town, ignore all else, but he knew that could have ended up being a death sentence for him. Everyone had their own problems; at least the demon's faults were beginning to look a little like a blessing in disguise, if only temporarily.

He turned his head to face Andrew as the last words left his mouth, only to catch the short mop of purple hair fall over his eyes. Kirinao didn't even have to ask about it, he knew that those words had been more than the fox had wanted to admit. Body language could be so deceitful at times...

Go easy on the guy, he's had it rough enough as it is, he told himself, choosing his words carefully. He grinned, as if it were no big deal, to lessen the weight of the words Andrew seemed embarrassed to have said. "Yeah, I don't blame you there. Strange world it is, right now. And it's such a big area, too; starving to death doesn't sound very appealing to me, either." He waved a hand, "And you could have been stuck with someone a lot worse than me. I'm obviously not the best, but as far as bad days could go, it's been alright. Don't you think?"

Putting the blame on himself, taking credit for a bad day... There, good deed for the day, he thought wryly to himself.
