Indi grinned a bit. Talking about bars and supposed death at the same time was getting kind of awkward. "Really? Great!" He smiled a bit more, but it faded as soon as hers did.
"W-wh--" Indi was staring down at his paws, nervous and unsure what to say. He looked up at her, seeing her smile. Why on earth is she smiling? He cocked his head a bit, then shook it. "N....nevermind."
Indi flashed another smile Monty's way. "No problem," he said, all the while thinking, Wait - at the beginning, she was really to gut me like a fish, and now... she really seems to be warming up to me! His smile widened at the thought, while following her. His own Mongoose was parked just near hers.

Monty climbed onto her Mongoose and sent in a call to Pi. "I'll be out at the bar. Dunno when I'll get back." Pi wasn't there, so she left a message. All for the best--she wasn't in the mood for interrogations, and in her current mental state, she didn't want to talk much with Pi. She might get snappish, and there would go their uneasy truce. "What were you going to ask?" she asked curiously.

Mounting his own Mongoose, Indi smiled and watched Agent Montana as she spoke. She was kind of pretty... 'Snap out of it!' Indi yelled at himself, screaming from inside his head. 'She's like your... enemy or something! NO NO NO NO NO!' Indi shook his head forcefully, and snapped back to attention when she addressed him.
"Uh..." He looked down, afraid to see her reaction when she asked. Why was he being so coy today? "Why is your parents thinking you're dead... for the best?" His ears flicked as he waited for an answer, his back paws moving to the side of the bike, ready to hop off if she brought out her energy sword, or got emotional. Either way, he didn't wish to be there when it happened.

Monty paused. This would take thought--and a decision. There was something about Indi that she liked, some inner voice telling her that it was okay. He seemed...different. More accepting? Was that it? Regretfully, she sighed and shook her head. No one could be trusted--especially her if he knew. She couldn't tell him, even if the voice was getting more insistent.
However, she kept a lid on the part of her that belonged to Pi: that part wanted her to attack him for asking such a personal question. "Uh...I...did something without thinking. Something that I've never told anyone. It--it's not important." She shuddered at the horrendous lie, but soldiered on. "But it's sorta, personal. No offense, it's just I don't tell anyone. But if my family knew, they'd disown me. I'd get in big trouble; maybe even hide from them for the rest of my life. Nothing's worse than hiding from your own kin for your life, except hiding from your kin when they know what the reason for lynching you is.
"Let's go," she said quickly, and revved up the Mongoose.

Indi looked at her, his head cocked. He seemed to be missing something... something important. What had she done? How had her brother died? Why would her family hate her if they found out?
He quickly nodded, snapping out of thinking. It wasn't important - not now anyway. He nodded again and smiled, revving up his own Mongoose. He tried his best, all the while, to keep away from his previous train of thought. He felt he had been on some sort of trail, but... was it best that he knew what her deepest, darkest secret was? Probably not. "Yes, let's."

Monty revved her engine and drove off to the bar. As she did, she blinked tears from blue eyes. The movement hid her trembling at how close she had been to telling him. There was no reason to tell him, she snapped at the voice in her head; it still firmly insisted that it was alright, that he could be trusted. No one could be trusted with the secret; no one could be told that it was Monty herself who had killed him. If she told Indi that, she might lose his trust. How could you like or trust someone who had committed the ultimate crime of fratricide?
You can't. You can't, and I want him to like me... Monty shook her head and stopped the Mongoose outside the bar. "This is it!"

Following Monty, Indi swerved back and forth across the terrain. He refused to look at her, knowing she was probably getting emotional, knowing what her knew about women. Also knowing what he knew, he knew he should be glad she wasn't PMSing. At least, he didn't think she was.
Indi nodded when they arrived, making sure to get a spot right next to Monty's Mongoose. He parked it and climbed off, waiting for Monty to do the same.

Monty swung off her Mongoose as Indi arrived. She smiled at him and led him inside the bar. It had been a haunt ever since she had come to live in this town, a place where she could drink alone. But today, she wasn't alone as she found a place where they could sit. "Sorry I've been in such a funny mood, Indi," Monty murmured. "I'm usually much easier to work with." She pulled off her helmet and shook her hair loose, considering what she felt like having.

Looking around, Indi noticed that the bar was nearly empty, save for a few people scattered throughout, staggering as if they were drunk, which they obviously were. It was kind of comfortable, being practically alone in here. They could talk about anything, and know they weren't being watched.
Indi shrugged. "I doubt that," he said smiling in a way that showed her was clearly just joking around with her. He then looked around, wondering when someone would ask them what they wanted to drink, if they were to be asked. He already knew what he wanted.

Monty smiled at Indi and sat down at the table, setting her helmet on the ground where she propped her feet up on it. "Honestly, I am. Well, with people I get along with. I think I get along with you just fine." She waited for him to join her and waved a server over. She just ordered a beer--she wasn't the sort to get overly fancy with her drinks. She watched Indi intently, as curious about him as she was sure he was curious about her. She felt almost a feeling of...kinship around him, as if she'd known him all her life. Impossible--they'd never met...

Smiling back at her, Indi followed. He noted that she seemed very comfortable in this bar - which didn't surprise him. It fit his picture of the Agent Montana he had heard so many stories about - failing to aim a gun, sleeping around, and loving to drink. It especially didn't surprise him when she ordered a plain old beer.
"Mmm, from what I hear you don't get along with many people,"Indi snickered and ordered a beer without taking his eyes off Monty. He sat down opposite her and took his own helmet and shook out his moderately long, black hair. "So..." Indi said, not really knowing what to talk about. He greatly disliked long silences, but he didn't want to bring up anything touchy, so he decided to let her do the talking.

Monty watched Indi for a moment. He was attractive--very attractive. She tried to think if she had ever heard anything about Indi, but she couldn't think of anything. She was fairly certain that he was Agent Indiana, but she couldn't remember ever associating with him. I don't even remember training with him. I think I'd remember a guy in fuchsia armor. And I'd certainly remember someone as good-looking as he is.
Monty shrugged and smiled with thanks as they brought them their drinks. "No, not really," she replied. "I was sort of...childish during training. I think I'm starting to mellow out. I hope I am, anyway. And I've been ambitious for too long. Red Army was a mellowing experience. Slower pace. And people are less forgiving of deadly pranks." She chuckled. "What about you, do you get along with everyone you meet?" I'll bet he does...that's why he's so familiar...he's like Tam... Monty hid a shudder by taking a swig from her bottle.
