Casually he walked along with his new travelling partner, his ears pivoted and focused on the sounds around them and on the sound of Maion's voice as he spoke. When Maion replied that the mare couldn't speak, Scythe stopped for a moment and turned to him without saying anything. His daughter, Sengdroma, had yet to speak. He wasn't even sure if she could. He shook his head, surely this stallion wasn't speaking of her. He laughed softly, more to himself than Maion.

"Forgive me, I do not laugh at you. There's just an odd coincidence in your story." He did not elaborate any more than that. Sengdroma was still a filly...wasn't she? Much too young to consider such things. Scythe didn't want to accept the fact that his youngest had entered the world of a young lady.

"The valley isn't far, perhaps half an hour?" he began walking again, each step falling at an easy going pace. "It sounds as if she has quite the hold on you," Again he laughed, this time a little more bousterous, "I tell you, the ladies have a way of doing that!" he cast another smile with a jestful tone.

"How long have you known your lady friend?" He wasn't trying to be overly nosey, he was just trying to carry on conversation.

As the laughter reached his ears a softly sprinkled flushed covered his cheeks, perhaps his name had been foolish after all. Such concepts usually belonged in his mind, he had not even told Moon herself what such a name meant to him, although he was sure she had managed to guess. Yet as the words drifted towards him he realised he had overreacted, curiosity filled his mind as he wondered what coincidence he was referring to, suddenly a rush of thought waves tumbled together before fusing into an idea, was Moon somehow related to Scythe? Was that the familiarity he had felt emanating from him? Surely not, Scythe had wings and seemed to bare very little resemblance to the pond life like Moon did. Shaking the notion aside he spoke, "Do you too know someone who can not speak?"

Half and hour to reach the valley, that would be the longest he had walked in a long time, yet he was up for the challenge. The day shone with a gentle beauty that swirled in yellows and red as the ambiance of the sun settled upon the earth. He ran through Scythes words in his head, the answer was simply to him, yet it seemed almost to naïve to say aloud. What would he think of him, for allowing someone to have such a hold after only one week. Although it was somehow embarrassing to say he knew he could not be rude to his companion. "One week…" he paused, allowing thoughts of her to float in his mind once more, "…yet that is enough."

Scythe smiled proudly when Maion asked him if he knew of a soquili who didn't speak. "Indeed I do. My youngest." he made no mention that it was a daughter, though perhaps that would have been a smart thing to do at the time. "My mate and I don't know if we will ever hear words."

Scythe's children all bared markings from their mother. Most were blue in color was he was, but all had her markings. Fortunate for them he always said, spirits forbid any look like him. He continued to smile, a feeling of pride rising in his chest. "You should meet my family one day, they're all beautiful creatures," he cast a look over to Maion, "But then, I am biased."

Turning his head back, his eyes surveyed the surroundings. Forest creatures scampered here and there, leaves starting to turn and fall from trees as the weather was soon to be changing.

"A week?" Scythe didn't want to say anything that might come across as rude, he wasn't sure exactly how to continue. "There must certainly be something about here then." Scythe thought back to his first meetings with Vara, she had shown so brilliant with her vibrant colors and outstanding personality. He could only hope that other stallions would be as lucky in their search.

Maion looked towards Scythe; with each step they gained ground upon the valley yet he could not shift the strange feeling that filled him. It was washed away slightly by the discussion of his family; family was on thing Maion wanted to start for himself. His Mother had died many years before leaving Maion alone in the world with naught by the company of his ancestors as they guarded his home deep within the mountains. Shaking his head he discarded the thoughts of starting a family with Moon, it was too soon to consider such ridiculous concepts.

Yet he knew in his heart that Moon was indeed special to him, be it as a friend or possibly something more one day. He just hoped that if he ever did decide to take a leap of faith towards her she would return the compliment. His blush faded as the walked, the sun shimmered in the sky above flickering its lights upon the colourful leaves that started to appear upon the trees. Oranges, yellows, and reds, the colours of autumn always fascinated him, yet his heart belonged to the Ocean.

After listening to his words he nodded before speaking softly, "Indeed she is, words can not describe her elegance and grace." Images flashed in his mind for a moment, a smile licked upon his lips as they made their advancement towards the valley.

He had only ever seen the valley from the sky, so as the trees began to thin he had no knowledge of their location. He spoke once more, his voice rumbling with a soft touch of curiosity. "How did you meet your mate?"

Scythe stopped and looked to Maion as he asked how he met Vara, his expression serious as could be. "I asked her to jump off a cliff."

He stood there quiet for a moment more, before the corners of his lips curled up into a hefty smile and a thunderous laughter escaped his throat. "Well, not exactly....." he shook his head and continued walking, "That, that was our second encounter."

"The first time I saw Vara, she was travelling over the mountain. We share only a few days, then it was time for her to leave. I showed her the mountain path, and we parted ways. She promised she would return the following spring...I never thought I'd see her again. Then, one day, while I was in the very fields where we're heading....she appeared!" Scythe thought back, it seemed as though it had been ages ago. In his mind, he and Vara had always been together, she was everything to him. "Since that time, we've been together. She gave up her world travels to be with me...here."

Scythe was very grateful of the deed his mate had done. He had offered to travel the world over with her, but she wanted a place to call home and a family that was her's.

"I never thought that beautiful mare that I met that day would end up being my lifemate." Scythe looked almost like a colt again, a silly expression on his face. Vara had a way of getting to him, even after all this time.

"You never know who...or when you'll find her, Maion."

He listened with an enthusiastic ear; it flicked tenderly around at the surroundings while Scythe spoke. It was a delicious story, and one that he played through his head like a comic strip, interesting and unique. So often he had heard stories about walks and rainstorms, but adventures and the unusual always sparked his interest, and as he thought of his own first encounter with Moon he remembered their dance under the stars as they twinkled and copied their dance above them. It had been an evening he would never forget.

"I know." He spoke in a low voice, almost as quiet as a whisper in response to Scythes final comment. Something stirred inside of him as they continued to walk, was he really feeling this strongly towards her? Confusion filled his mind as he attempted to sort out his emotions and thought. Relentlessly they flashed before him until he stopped in his stride, shaking his head vigorously in an attempt to shift them. Sighing he raised his head once more, the air had changed in smell, something lingered that he did not recognise. Taking his first step he began to move cautiously forward once more, the sun shone with waves of yellow light that licked the landscape, his eyes widened, his heart began to race. They had reached the valley.

His eyes scanned the surface; there were very few trees but an abundance of flowers and grasses that flourished under the striking combination of light and shadow. Maybe now they would find the perfect white rose. He thought only a few words to himself Moon, I will find it… for you.

He could tell that the situation, whatever it was, seemed to weigh heavily on the angeni's mind. He wasnt' the best at giving advice when it came to dealing with the heart, that was more of a ladies topic he supposed. He would be there to offer a listening ear, but he couldn't say that his advice would be the best. He did, after all, only meet his lifemate once before the time they decided it was a lasting relationship. Not be best example of a 'normal' courtship.

Stopping just inside the treeline, he exhaled deeply. "Ah, the vally." Looking over to Maion he smiled. "I'm sure we'll find a rose here...." his eyes scanned over the multitude of various petals. The sizes, shapes, colors and smell were all blending together in a see of fragrant water. "Somewhere..." His eyes searched, seeing no rose bushes right off hand.

"A white rose?" he checked with Maion one last time to make sure he hadn't changed his mind.

Maion nodded, before mumbling slightly one words, "Yes." He eyes scattered their gaze upon the landscape before him, his nose stung with the overwhelming fragrance that drifted towards them on the gentle breeze. It was far more overpowering than when he was in the sky, and the passing thought flickered through his mind for a moment, would it be easier to search from the skies? Shaking this thought away he smiled and took a step forward into the valley, the ground was solid here, the moisture had been soaked up by the thick roots of the menagerie of plants that grew before them.

Although he could see every colour of the rainbow he could not see them all combined, the white that his eyes and heart longed to find. Each step was fruitless as he surveyed the landscape for the prickly plant. He saw countless ferns, red roses, and carnations, but nothing white. Disheartened he continued, calling back towards Scythe to see if he had had any more luck, "How goes the search?"

He set out a good distance away from Maion, his eyes searching over the blossoms as he passed. He kept closer to the treeline instead of out in the open field, there would be no rose bush in the open. His eyes searched, finding bushes of berries and red roses, but not whtie..not yet.

"No good yet. I'm going to go further up the line, You head South!" he called out to Maion. Perhaps with them going two seperate directions, between the both of them, they'd stumble upon the rose that Maion seeked.

Scythe smiled as he walked along, it felt good to help another soquili, especially when it came to finding a gift. Gifts were big between he and his mate, it was something they shared. Most of the gifts were silly things that only they understood, but none the less it was special.

Smiling he nodded in response, running the word South through his mind as he took another step, he rarely travelled in a Southly direction, he was usually bound by the East and the West, after all they where the directions that the sun rose and sank upon the Earth each day, and similar to his pull towards the Ocean he felt a pull towards those directions. Although it was some how unnatural to him he plodded on, hoping that his luck would change.

He walked and walked for what felt like a small eternity and he remained flowerless, yet as he continued to wander he noted the slightest glint of white, could it be? Heart pounding, he raced towards it, only to have his hope shattered into a thousand undistinguishable pieces, it was a snowdrop. Delicate by all accounts but somehow inferior to the treasure he sought. Head lowered, and his determination wavering slightly he continues, surely he would reach it eventually, or Scythe would reach it first, either way he wanted to give Moon something to remember him by.

He almost missed it. Hiding behind bushes of another nature, Scythe's eyes barely caught a glimpse of white showing through. He picked up his pace slightly, a slot trot, he made his way over to the plant.

There, there it was. A rose bush in hiding, odd. Rose bushes were normally the dominant plant, no matter, Scythe had to get Maion's attention. Sure there would be a rose perfect enough for Maion to gather?

"Maion!" he called out. He was unable to see the stallion, but he knew he could be too far..unless he had taken to the skies, "Maion, I've found a rose!" his ears pivoted and settled on the southern horizon waiting for Maion to appear.

His ears flickered with excitement as he heard his name flow magnificently towards him on the wind, had Scythe found his object of desire? His heart pounded within his chest as he the hope rushed to the surface, perhaps now he would find a gift perfect enough to give to Moon. He longed to take to the skies, he trotted South, gathering speed with each step as he began to flap his wings in a gentle elegance, suddenly his hooves where lifted off the floors. The wind carrying him into the air as a dream of pure freedom swept over his mind with each beat, the skies were always so comforting. He turned slowly towards the direction of his companion as he flew with a gentle grace.

There, blow him was the blue flicker of colour that made up Scythe. Swooping down beside him to took to the ground once more, holding his wings out high before dragging them tightly towards himself once more as he turned towards Scythe, a child-like excitement beaming from within his crystal blue eyes. He felt like a young colt once again.

He scanned the surroundings as his eyes located the white rose bush that situated within the entanglement of reds and greens from neighbouring plants, yet despite that he could only see the one rose that had captured his attention, its petals supple and sleek, pointing towards the sky as the curled towards the centre, twirling towards the centre to produce an overlap of white shining within it. Words could not describe it, ignorant towards the several other roses that grew beside it he watched unblinking determining how to seize it for himself. Stepping towards it he lowered his nose closer in an attempt to bite it free, yet as he did a sharp thorn penetrated his skin as a pain rippled through his body like a wave upon the Ocean, he stepped back suddenly, his nose throbbing, evidently capturing it would not be so easy, he chuckled to himself. Nothing about winning Moon was easy, a patch of red covered his mind as a slowl trickle of blood began to run from around the thorn. That would teach him for being so careless.

He had seen Maion moving quickly to retrieve the rose, so quick in fact that Scythe hadn't had time to try and remind him of the thorns. He cringed as Maion withdrew his muzzle, the slow flow of blood forming and dripping from the puncture.

"Just like a lady after your heart, one must be careful." he smiled like a proud father would. Scythe stood there and surveyed the situation, then an idea flickered in his head like a light bulb.

"Maion, if you'll clear the other limbs and thorns away with your horn, I can retrieve it for you." He would have offered to clear away the threat with his own horns, but they curled around his skull, better for battering objects than moving them.

Knowing that Maion had found the rose he sought, Scythe wouldn't mind suffering a few scrapes here and there to retrieve the delicate flower from it's home.

Nodding in agreement, his pride slightly shattered as the blood continued to flow, at least that was a good sign that it was a clear cut. Grunting under his breath at his own stupidity he allowed himself to smile, at least seeing the funny side of the situation would prevent him from being closed and sheltered. Scythes plan made sense, yet as he spoke he got the impression from his aura that he was almost attempting to protect Maion from experience more harm, he didn’t understand why.

Without further delay he moved forward, lowering his head and keeping his eyes fixed on the prize at all times he shifted his weight and manoeuvred his horn into a secure position to allow him to move the brambles and thorns away. Carefully he treed, holding his position firm as the plants wrapped themselves around his unicorn-horn. He was unsure how long they would hold in such a delicate position.

With a nod of understanding, Scythe set to work. He watched as Maion carefully moved the other branches and thorns out of the way. Gingerly Scythe tilted his head for a better fit into the hole Maion had created. Taking the rose under the bloom, Scythe bit firmly into the stem, a few of the thorns scraping against his lips, others barely poking at his sensitve nose.

Applying just a bit more pressure, the sound of a crisp crack was heard. The stem hadn't broken completely in two, but with a gentle tug of the head, the rose was freed from bush. Scythe removed his head and looked to Maion, white rose held in his mouth.

With a wide, fang filled smile, Scythe extended his head and offered the rose to Maion. It would be odd coming in such proximity of another stallion's lips, but he dare not set such a gift of the ground for Maion to retrieve.
