Chagrin lowered his head a little. "Yes, I know I must search for him. He is probably the only I have and may ever have a chance at finding." he said licking his muzzle. "Yes, family is the most important thing, for a wolf is not one to relish being alone." he said gazing off. He knew this as he always longed for company and one to speak to on a regular basis.
Chagrin gave a smile. "I told you, you will." he said continuing the slight wagging of his tail. "If I can go out and try to find my half brother, I am sure that you will find your family wherever the may be." he said tilting his head. "For all you know they are closer than you may think." he said turning to look into the dense thick of trees. "They are probably looking for you as well."

Tauro nodded curtly, content with his answer, then sighed. "That is the problem," she said. "When my siblings and I were born... I developed fine, but my brother's ears never cleared, and my sister has never been able to speak. That is what troubles me--they were so dependent on m-my family, that I don't think either would have simply... left. But I don't understand what might have happened to them."
Well, she did understand. She had been roaming these woods long enough to understand the fate of pups that were separated from the safety net of their family. Surely, though, her sister and brother could not have met such a fate.

"Ahh...I see." he said lowering his head a little, he too knew the fate of many pups who lost their pack families, and a pup with any sort of disability ranked far worse on the scale of surviving on their own. Such a fate was a sad one, but it was the way of life that they all knew, no matter how painful it could be.
"I cannot tell you what may have happened, one may only speculate on such things. But one can never truly lose faith in their hopes and dreams." he said nodding his head. His heavy paws flexed a little, digging his toes into the cold earth, the reality of the world that they lived in brought itself to their attention nearly everyday, in good and bad ways. All of which reminding them of their own mortal selves, knowing that nothing lasted forever, though it may have at once seemed so.
"If you do not find them alive and well, that at least maybe you can uncover what happened to them. But I am sure that they have somehow managed and are well, waiting to find you." he said, golden eyes shining. He believed his own words, and he hoped he would inspire Tauro to truly believe they were out there looking for her as well.

Tauro was, above all, a practical wolf, and rarely one for platitudes. However, she did feel soothed by Chagrin's words, perhaps because he, too, seemed to believe strongly in them. He also seemed to know that she had already considered all of the possibilities that could have caused her siblings' disappearance.
"Still, to find a body is cold comfort," she said. Her eyes glinted, the brown taking on a reddish glow. "To find a perpetrator would bring me more relief."

Chagrin nodded his head, "Yes, it is a painful thing to find what you have searched for only to find it already lost. But there is also some sense of fulfillment in it, but as you said; a 'cold comfort.'" he said licking at his nose.
Chagrin debated over the idea of finding a perpetrator, "I dare say I could almost say it's better. If they played the role well, but even still it is a very empty sort of comfort, a half comfort really." he mulled over the idea still. "To find one who claims to be another is sometimes not always the best, even though we may think so. It leaves us only with a more broken spirit than we originally started with in the end; in my opinion at least." he said shrugging his shoulder and turning to n** at a flea on his side.
Once he had finished with the flea he sat himself upright again, "But, I do have to agree, sometimes that false warmth can give us the strength we need to carry on, even if it is not truly what we were searching for. We find strength and happiness in some of the strangest things at time."

Tauro threw back her head and laughed again, so raucously that a flock of birds rose from a nearby tree and took flight, their own cries seeming to mimic her own. She laughed to keep the dark thoughts from her mind--while she may be impetuous and vengeful, Tauro wasn't an evil wolf. "You keep trying to keep a pleasant spin on things," she said, half-teasing the other wolf. "I believe you would let a wolf do anything, if it would make her happy."

Chagrin gave a slight smile. "I believe you to be quite right. To please others is to please ones own soul in my case." he said sneezing with slight laughter of his own. It was true, he aimed more to please those around him than to please himself. He knew this was a bit of a soft spot on him that he needed to be careful with, but he could never seem to help himself, he had a gentle heart.
"I at least aim to make good company and please those around me, as long as no harm is brought forth." he said tilting his head. "What good is letting one please themselves when it ends in a downfall of some sort."

Tauro's laugh faded to a slight chuckle. "There we part ways, my new friend," she answered, even as the red faded from her eyes. "I think it's better to let someone wander into trouble, if they'll learn from it--provided they aren't harmed too permanently."
She smiled to herself; she'd traveled with a few males who'd acted in that manner, getting into trouble until they realized they couldn't get out again.

"There are times when one must learn from mistakes and hardship, but saving one of permanent damage is something I dearly agree with." he said closing his eyes to scratch behind his ear. "But some times, one can not avoid such damage no matter what precautions are taken." he said thinking about the scars over his front paws.
Chagrin righted himself after the scratching. "So tell me Tauro, how long have you been searching for your siblings? Some time I would presume." he said leaning to take a few laps of the chilled water, a golden eye never leaving the female.

Her gaze grew distant. "It has been… a very long time," she finished. "I don't think I'll recount the seasons; a lady never tells her age, you know." It had been a long time, and she was beginning to feel it in her bones. Old enough that her own niece was ready for pups, though she didn't know that.

Chagrin nodded his head. "Yes, females do have a great tendency for secrecy when it comes to the season they have seen. But I understand. I myself have been a loner for more time than I would like to admit to." he said shifting his golden gaze away a little and shifting.
He was no young wolf and he knew that, but he wasn't that old in his opinion. But in the reality of the aging of wolves in the wild he was certain a good age, and could not expect to really see too many more years. The ways of nature were cruel and he knew it, but he never let it get to him often; he tried to enjoy every day that he was given.
"Have you ever thought of what you will do when you find your sibling?" he asked looking back up the female, curiosity shining in his eyes.
