*Posts her entry before forgetting about it.* Hope it's up to par. xD
Your mother has been talking about humans, and how they scared her, and her family before her. Her family were a herd of real wild mustangs.. And you are a mustang descendent yourself. Do you have the same fear of humans? Do you tell her that? Are you close enough with your mother to really be able to say anything to her about.. well anything? Why do you feel this way?
Name: Mindy Temper: Timid (That's if female. xD Male don't know yet... Given well... You know. xD! ))
Dark ears twitched as her mother told the same story about that was always told about the humans. The ‘hunters’ and ‘tamers’ out there that would apparently break a horse’s spirit if taken from the herd. Besides those that were supposed to be kind their steeds, but still underneath much worse. Deep chocolate eyes peered at the pale mare with wideness and admiration, was all this really true? Shaking her head, Mindy took to heart what her mother had always told her and her siblings.
’Humans are not to be trusted’ her mother’s words fluttered through her head like small butterflies on the spring winds. ’If you see one, remain still and unnoticed and they will just walk right past you.’
“But are they really?” Mindy found herself asking her own shadow when she had found a moment alone. “Are they really as bad as Momma says?”
Head tilting to one side, Mindy wanted to really find out, but with Mother and father watching their, or just about every move they made. She didn’t know if she would find a moment to get away from them. Eyes watching the shadows as her dark coat blending in quite perfectly with the shadows of the trees and under laying bushes. Turning her head somewhat Mindy thought she had head something, but it was only one of her siblings playing with the other. Her father, Yiska was watching them while her mother was resting off to one side.
Standing on still knockety legs, Mindy stepped over toward Marahute and watched her silently, digging at the courage that laid deep in the pit of her stomach. Could she really ask her mother about the thoughts and questions that drifted through her head. Ears pinning themselves back, she could feel the warm eyes of her mother peering up at her with concern, but the silence was only disturbed by her siblings. Head snapping to the side she watched them as they played with their father, before looking back at her mother.
“Mom? Can I talk to you?” Mindy asked looking down at the dried grass that laid at her feet. “Are the humans really as bad as you say they are?”
Looking back up at her mother, she got a somewhat puzzled look from her before and answer. ‘Of course they are.’ And that was all she got. Mindy had to nod at the reply before she was asked to lay beside her mother. Mindy was all too happy to lay beside her mother and rest her head on the ground. Eyes closing, Mindy hadn’t noticed how tired she had become, nor that the rest of her family were coming to rest as well. Around her the sounds of the night sprung to life lulling her question filled head to sleep and to dream.
---
The dream started out fantastic, butterflies drifted in the air as flowers waved and bowed at her quick passing. Even the sun over head spread it’s blanket of warmth over the valley in which she played within. There wasn’t a care in the world as Mindy chased after one blue winged butterfly after another. Unknown to her, at the fringes of her dream like wonderland, black thunderous clouds rolled in thick black sheets. Blacker then even her own coal colored coat. The thunder rolled like the hooves of many of her kind and lightening slithered past and around each other. Harsh winds picked up driving the butterflies into hiding and bending the flowers over dangerously.
“What? What’s going on?” Mindy cried as she looked around as her paradise seemed to melt into shades of black, white and gray.
The thunder rolled louder as the clouds grew thicker, blacker. Rain started pelting down like stones, digging hard into the ground like spears from the heavens. Side stepping away from the rain even if it was quite impossible to get away from it all. Already her back felt like someone were pelting it with something hard. Thunder rang through her ears like loud bells, rearing back she fled to the cover of black trees. Already some were losing more leaves then they should in a normal rain storm. Around her things were moving in the shadows, looking around Mindy wasn’t sure what they were.
Black shadows dotted the sides of her vision as something, or many some things were moving toward her. Large black shadows, ones with looming black limbs that reached out for her. An ear shattering scream erupted from her in her dream and even from her waking mouth startling those around her. Limbs pulled in close to her body and ears pinned back as far as they could go, Mindy’s eyes squeezed themselves as tightly as they could go.
“No, keep away from me.” She cried as the looming shadows reached ever closer to her.
She could feel their fingers dragging over her coat like claws. Mouths opening to reveal fangs and many sharp teeth. Hunters she remembered as what her mother had told her. Tamers of her kind, no! Shaking her head, Mindy cried again as the dark shadows bearing sharp fangs suddenly leaped onto her, thus dragging her out of her dream and back into the waking world. Chocolate eyes snapped open as she sat straight up with a jolt, sides gasping for air as she looked around at the looming shadows cast by the moon over head and the illuminated faces of her family around her.
It was a dream, just a dream, Mindy told herself, but something about it told her that it wasn’t just a dream. Something there scared her through and through. She wasn’t sure what it was, but just the expressions that she got from her family scared her more then her dream did. Looking from her parents to her siblings, Mindy laid back down, but didn’t close her eyes, she didn’t want to sleep anymore, she was awake, ‘wide’ awake. Small shivers rustled her coat as her mind kept replaying her dream in front of her eyes with unclosed lids. It was true, it was all true, what her mother had told her. Humans were dangerous, worse… They were monsters…

[Whichever you choose].
Name: Bahir Name meaning [if any]: Arabic for Sparkling Gender: Male Personality: Spirited Entry: The young stallion reared his head slightly he could hear the steps coming closer. Perhaps it wasn't the best bet to wander this far away from mother not today. His panic building, what had she told him about humans, they were not to be trusted. Mustangs did not trust those that tried to capture them and use them for their own means did they? His brain reeling quickly as he looked about there was brush to hide himself but would that really be what a mustang would do? Would his mother approve of him hiding like a coward and not the strong young stallion he was. His thoughts went back to his mother, that morning she had been telling the children about humans, and he had felt he was going to change his mothers mind, he was going to meet a human that would be able to be trusted, one to change his mothers mind. But as the steps grew closer he grew worried that he had made a mistake.
"What have I gotten in to..."
He grumbled softly as a human walked in to the clearing his heart pounding quickly. The human had stood perfectly still, what was he thinking Bahir wondered. Was he trying to trap him...or...was he scared? Walking in to the clearing so that he could get a better look at this thing that his mother warned him so much about. He didn't look like a threat, he looked scared. Walking closer to the outstretched hand he nuzzled it softly before looking at the human.
"He's not so bad..."
Letting out a whine as the human moved quickly. He turned and ran off in the direction of his mother. Finding her he nuzzled her softly,
"Mother...humans..."
Seeing the look on his mothers face at the mention of humans he nuzzled her affectionately and gave her a half smile. He couldn't bring himself to say anything about humans to her. She would have worried, instead he would have to figure out if humans were that scary after all.

Name: Tsumph Name meaning [if any]: (A play of the German word for swamp) Gender: Male Personality: Hasty Entry:
Ugh, they were so annoying at times. Always with the where are you going’s and what are you doing’s. It got really old, really fast. He could never do anything without them breathing down his neck!
Well, this time, they couldn’t be breathing down his neck. Because they were nowhere in sight, just as he had orchestrated. The plan was perfect; wait until mom and dad fell asleep, and then sneak off to that cool place dad had shown he and his siblings. He knew the way; he had a great memory!
So, Tsumph trotted along the beaten path, tail swaying from side to side as he hummed a little victory tune, content with his success. He had never known that this would be so easy, and he wished he had thought of this before.
But as he traveled further away from the place he and his family slept, he slowly began to notice that things looked different than earlier today. He didn’t remember that craggy boulder, or that decrepit tree, or that monstrous shadowy thing that was coming near him!
Panic ignited the cogs in his brain to work at full speed, steam blowing from the metaphorical tubes in his head, sending the black and green locomotive into a frenzy of stumbling legs, contact with the tracks, and a whistle of fright. The Tsumph express was off like a bullet, crying out as he dashed back home.
“MOMMY! DADDY!”
Back at the fork in the road, the shadowed figure emerged from the shadows, revealing a pale young man wearing a dark cloak. His thin lips curved into a humored grin, as he watched the young colt dash away from him.
“Seems like I scared the little guy. Oh well.” He shrugged, continuing on his way.
(The human is my Indian persona, by the way.)

Do you have the same fear of humans? Do you tell her that? Are you close enough with your mother to really be ableto say anything to her about..well anything? Why do you feel this way? [Whichever you choose]. Name: Xaviarie Name meaning [if any]: Made up; pro: X-ZAY-vee-a-ree Gender: Male Personality: Loyal // Devoted Entry:
When you feel all alone And the world has turned it's back on you, Give me a moment please, to tame your wild wild heart... I know you feel like the walls are closing in on you It's hard to find relief and people can be so cold When darkness is upon your door and you feel like you can't take anymore...
Let me be the one you call If you jump I'll break your fall Lift you up and fly away with you into the night If you need to fall apart I can mend a broken heart If you need to crash, then crash and burn You're not alone
His mother's soft dun coat was almost a muted orange in the sunset's light, reflected in the hunter green gaze of her middle child, a colt fondly called Xaviarie. He pressed his head up against Marahute's neck, breathing in her warm, confident scent, a scent that would always remind him of home. Remind him of family. It was her that made Xaviarie feel whole. Feel wanted, needed, loved. "What's the matter, Momma?" he asked, looking up at her with adoration in his bright young eyes. There was a strange, sudden sadness in Marahute's eye that tugged at the colt's heartstrings. She opened her mouth, then closed it again, as if she had something to say but wasn't quite sure how to say it. "I'm afraid," she murmured finally. "The humans are near." That's what she called them. Humans. The two-legged creatures that wandered around the small camp. The ones that played with the hot, red stuff; danced around the open fire in the night. The ones that rode on the backs of the tamed Soquili living near their teepees... He always wondered what it would feel like, to have a two-leg on your back, their legs wrapped around your belly as you ran. He wondered if that would be like flying to them. Xaviarie had been near this camp on his adventures. He'd seen the looks of wonder in their big, brown eyes as they peered at him through a line of trees, the leaves making the sun dapple his black and green pelt. They were curious, just as he was. Sure, they were a little odd looking, but so were rabbits and frogs! They just didn't look like horses, that was all. Nothing to judge them for. His brow furrowed as he pushed his forehead against the mare's shoulder in a soft headbutt. But why would they scare her? "I'm here to protect you, you know," he whispered softly to her, ears pricking up. She smiled down at him. "Of course you are. Have I ever told you the story of my family, darling child of mine?" His eyes widened. "No..." Marahute painted a picture for the colt: A strong, buckskin stallion leading the herd, his muscles chiseled and his skin rippling across his pelt with ease, a mane of ebony, much like Yiska's, flowing behind him in waves. The rest of the herd was galloping after him, their existance pure bliss and pride and freedom and love and everything... The little colt arched his neck and yearned to stretch out, to run beside the leader, to prove to his Momma that he could indeed protect her from the humans which she feared so much, the fear that she felt making him feel it just a little bit as well. Just a little bit. "I've got the blood of the wild mustang galloping through my veins, and now you do, too," she nickered, nuzzling him as he came out of his reverie with a grin plastered on his face. "Whenever you feel lonely or scared, just think of our descendants forging their freedom across the plains." "I'm not scared, Momma," he mused to her, leaning against her, all of his weight on one side of his body in a way only a foal can manage. "I can't be scared if you're around. Just like you can't be scared when I'm around. I'll protect you forever." And he meant it. Even if he grew up among the humans, even if he one day danced around their red fires and drank from the same stream with them and held them on his back as they flew like the wild mustangs they were. Xaviarie wasn't afraid, and he'd show Marahute that she would never have to be afraid again. Afterall, he would be here forever. [[Hehe, thanks for offering something like this, Buffy! -loves Mara and Yiska together- ]]

Prompt one:
You're out on your own, away from your parents for once. They are always watching you! Making sure you’re safe! But sometimes that drives you crazy...But these trails don’t look the same at night as they do in the day...When you came out here. How did you get away from your parents? What did you do when you found out you were lost? Are you brave enough to stay calm, or do you miss your family? Why?
Name: Azad Name meaning [if any]: Independent & Free Gender: Male Personality: Headstrong Entry:
A faint smug look crossed Azads' muzzle as he cracked one eye open to peer at his herd. His two siblings were snoring away beside him, just across the clearing he could hear his parents talking softly. Perfect. Slowly and carefully, he eased himself to his feet slipping away from the other two foals. It was not that he didn't love his family, he loved them with all of his young heart, but they were sooooo smothering! Tossing his head, he glanced back towards their family clearing once more before slipping into the woods.
It was so...odd to find himself out here alone. It was liberating to be sure, but at the same time... Azad shuddered faintly his ears lying back just a bit before he snorted forcing his ears back up. No! He was the son of Marahute and Yiska, he was no coward! Taking a deep breath he continued down the trail that he was sure let out near the river. A twig snapped to his left making his heart jump as he whirled around, eyes wide and white rimmed as his head swung around looking for the threat.
A soft laugh spilled from him as a startled stag swung its head up to look at him. "It's just a deer...nothing that can hurt me." A heavy sigh spilled from the colt as he tried to slow his racing heart before he started down the trail once more, his ears twitching madly as he tried to hear all the sounds of the forest at night. "Nothing is gonna hurt me...nothing is gonna hurt me...nothing is...AAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!" He squealed nearly falling back on his rump as a snowy white owl dove right before his face. Turning on his heel, he bolted back the way he came screaming at the top of his lungs "MOMMA MOMMA MOMMA!!!"
It wasn't his mother that appeared before him on the trail. The creature was tall, standing on only its hind legs. It had only fur on its head and strange limbs that where making gestures towards him. An odd clicking sound came from its mouth, sounds that the frightened colt couldn't understand. It had to be one of those hooman things momma warned them about.
Azad, who had already prided himself on being as brave as his mother, screamed in fear again and bolted as quickly as he could. He heard the hooman make an alarmed sound behind him but the only thing that the colt could think of was getting to the safety of his parents. Oh why had he thought sneaking away would be a good idea?!
"Azad?! Baby where are you!?"
"MOMMA!!" He sobbed as he barreled from the thicket right into his mother's legs nearly knocking her over as he huddled as close to him as he could, shaking all over as he cried. "It was so scary! T.t.there were THINGS in the woods and a hooman!!" He pressed his face against her light hide shivering all over and he whimpered. Luckily for him, his mother was good at understanding frightened foal and nuzzled him as she lead him back to the safety of his father and their little herd. Sinking back down between his two siblings he shivered again but began to relax as his parents nuzzled him and his siblings soothing them all.
"You are safe now son...”
Azad nodded yawning as he laid his head over his lighter sibling's back relaxing in the safety of his strong father's presence, his mother's loving tenderness, and the love of his two siblings. "Yes da...I am sorry I snuck out. I...I just wanted to be brave like you and momma..." He didn't see his mother's smile as she dropped her head to lip his ears," You will be brave in your own way one day baby." He smiled sleepily as he drifted to sleep feeling safe once more in the warmth of his family.

Name: Shirin Name meaning [if any]: sweet (persian) Gender: Female Personality: independant Entry:
A nightingale in a golden cage That's me locked inside reality's maze Come someone make my heavy heart light Come undone, bring me back to life It all starts with a lullaby
Journey homeward bound A sound of a dolphin calling Tearing off the mask of man The tower, my sole guide
This is who I am Escapist, paradise seeker Farewell, now time to fly Out of sight, out of time, away from all lies
A nightingale in a golden cage That's me locked inside reality's maze Come someone make my heavy heart light Come undone, bring me back to life It all starts with a lullaby ~The Escapist, Nightwish
During the day she plotted. This was getting beyond ridiculous. Mum and dad were too overprotective. She needed some space to breathe. To be herself. It was obvious her siblings would be of no help in this, so she kept her thoughts to herself.
There was no way she could escape from their watchful eyes by day, so it would have to be at night. Slowly a plan suggested itself to her scheming mind. Yes, that would work nicely. Now to wait for the perfect night in which to carry it out.
Slowly lifting her head from the cradle of her forelegs, Shirin looked from side to side then up at the sky. The moon was full tonight, suffusing the landscape with a light silver glow, and offering enough light for one to easily find their way. Siblings asleep- check. Mum and dad... Shirin started. They weren't sleeping in their normal spot. Figures... they probably knew she was feeling caged and was planning to escape for some adventure, and were elsewhere just waiting to stop her.
She sighed heavily. She really did love them, but mum and dad were a bit overbearing at times. Smothering her with attention and coddling her. Refusing to let her go out and live. Refusing to let her make mistakes and learn from them. It wasn't so bad for her sibs. They were perfectly content to live the lives their parents dictated, but she was far too proud and independant. She liked to do things for herself, and to discover things on her own. And that was the problem, wasn't it?
She was a free spirit and needed to have some freedom. She was slowly being driven insane. Locked in this small, safe, family unit, not allowed to take any chances or risks. Hence her desperate plan. One night, just one night of freedom. Was that too much to ask for?
She looked around again. Where were mum and dad? Ahh... There they were. Asleep together, just not in the normal spot. Casting a sideways glance, she saw her sibs were curled up together, still asleep. A bright smile blossomed over her face. Freedom here I come.
Quickly gathering all for legs underneath and standing up, Shirin trotted quietly past the sleeping forms of her family. Too busy trying to get away from her family, she didn't pay any attention to where she was going.
The filly slowed as the sun started to peek from the horizon. Where had the night gone? Looking around, she spotted a small shrub with just enough shade to protect her eyes from dawns early light. She was exhausted. Maybe just a little nap, before she would head home.
Freedom, it seemed was rather boring. Carefully arranging her body for a nap she settled next to the shrub. Just a quick....
With a long yawn and stretch, Shirin awoke. " Good morning mum, dad..."
With a start, she realized she was alone and didn't know where she was. "Mum, dad?"
She started to panic.
This is what I wanted, right? An adventure. Some freedom from mum and dad? Deep breaths. Calm down and think about this logically. I'm alone- that's not so bad. All I have to do re-trace my steps. Simple right?
Then she heard it in the distance. A very welcome sound. "Shirin, Shirin" Mum's voice.
Okay, so maybe freedom and adventures were overrated. Perhaps she could stand their fussing. At least until she was a little older and more confident in herself. And next time she became overwhelmed... Well at least next time she would pay more attention to where she was going.
"MUM."
She turned toward the sound and trotted swiftly- She wasn't frightened, nor had she panicked. Nope. She was just doing everyone a favor by returning. That's all.
Head held high, she returned home.

Name: 'Eleu [unisex] Name meaning [if any]: Alert, Lively, Energetic Gender: Male for the prompt, but I don't mind female. <3 Personality: Vivacious. 'Eleu loves what's good in life; laughter, family, and friends. Entry:
Shoot.
Where was he again?
‘Eleu trot quickly back and forth at this fork in the trail, panicking as he frantically tried to remember which way he had come from. One minute he had settled beneath a willow for a little bit of a nap, the next he had awoken and everything was dark… and quiet. Well, served him right, he thought anxiously; after all, hadn’t mother always kept him and his siblings close for a reason?
All the little colt had wanted to do was stretch his limber legs on his own for a while, to explore a little farther on his own than just around the corner from the rest of the family. He had crept away while everyone else frolicked in the stream, slinking along their well-worn trails and pathways in the woods until he had ended up at a lovely forest pool.
And now he was lost.
It hit him suddenly that he was quite lost. ‘Eleu teared up a bit in frustration, pacing back and forth a few more times before pressing his muzzle firmly to the ground, sniffing in the hope that there would be a wisp of a scent left for him. He was tired of being away from them by now, and much more grateful for their protective company. He missed them by now, desperate to be back with them. Who cared if his siblings might call him a wimp for crying in the morning? He could be a sissy now and then pretend it was nothing later.
He bounced were he stood as he found his mother’s scent and immediately bolted down that path, tiny foal tail flapping behind him as he loped along. The forest began to thin rapidly and he found himself nearly bowling headfirst into the frantic mare, not minding the slightest that his nose hurt from running into her.
He was just glad to be back.
[[ Kind of a short entry, but yeah. <3 I may edit it to add more or to change grammar around, but I'll note it here if I do. c: ]]

Not a very long entry. It's kinda a mix between the prompts, taking elements from each one. Mostly prompt 2, though.
Name: Jabari Name meaning [if any]: Brave Gender: The gender of the foal in the entry is Male. Personality: Bold Entry:
When Jabari hear his mother talk about the humans, of course his curiosity was piqued. 'Bari was a bold young foal, and was prideful of his mustang decent. When his mother spoke of her fear, inwardly the young foal would scoff, and straighten up like a bold knight. Oh, no, he had no fear! Jabari, as much as he loved his mother, couldn't understand what she had to fear from the humans. From decription, they sounded so easily breakable. Easily a hard kick could bash their faces in! Ah yes, the steriotypical boy, so facinated by gore -- although ten to one said that if he actually saw such a thing, he would more than squirm.
He'd tried to tell his mother, this, though, and she'd meerly shake her head at his childish naivete. How simple the world is for the young and innocent. But, oh, he felt spart. So smart, and brave, and bold. One night, he managed to slip away from his parents. With three young children, the two were quite taxed for energy, and sleep was a welcome reprieve. It was getting past his other siblind that was the challange. But he did it! Yes! Jabari was on a roll! Trotting over the hill, towards the forest, he looked down the common path the family took. They looked quite different in the moonlight. A fog had set in, and made funny shapes. For a moment young 'Bari felt something. Fear, most would have called it, but now! Jabari was fearless! So why did he hesitate? Why did his hooves feel like lead when he tried to move then to trod down the forest path?
He jumped. The couragious Jabari jumped, when behind him he heard the rusteling of grass. Eyes wide, he looked behind him and saw the large form of his father. He heard the deep chuckle that his father emitted, and his ears flattened, and a peevish look came over his face. "What!?"
"Come, Jabari," he said, "You need to get to sleep. If you want to adventure, you can tomorrow, when the trail isn't so scarey."
"I'm not scared," Jabari mumbled, but never the less, followed his father. He'd never admit being afraid. Not even to himself. So as the two went back to the rest of the family, silence was exchanged, till a coyote howl pierced the air. For a second time that night, Jabari jumped, but not only that - he ran ahead, to the side of his beloved mother. So maybe irrational fear wasn't,...such a horrible thing.

Name: Tiva Name meaning [if any]: dancer Gender: female Personality: clumsy, optimistic, though she can be a tad bit cynical, she absolutely loves to prance about the forest, she has terrible self control and is prone to outbursts, and can be quite haughty at times especially when she is being told what to do or someone is proving her wrong. Entry: The trees whirled past as she spun around, it was so nice to be away from them! how she had longed to be free! and now she finally was... she finally was....
Tiva glanced around as she slowed to a stop, nothing looked familiar... all the trees... all the trees everywhere. She frowned looking for something, anything that was familiar because there was no way she could be lost, no way at all especially not after all the hard work it took for her to escape from them.
Normally she wouldnt have been able to get away from her parents, they were always worrying over her and her siblings, always keeping her from doing what she wanted. She’d spent hours planning it and it was perfect, she simply wandered away early in the morning before they had even woken.
She had galloped into the forest humming as she went, the forest had looked quite beautiful during the day but… now it seemed sort of intimidating. She couldn’t be scared, not after all that work, not after waking up at the crack of dawn, she couldn’t be scared when she had probably made her parents worry. Though there was always the possibility they didn’t notice, they didn’t even care that she was gone, tears welled in her eyes as she trotted forward, the forest seemed so menacing with all the creaking and the sound of snapping twigs, the worst of it was that rustling noise she would hear every once and a while.
Finally the fear overcame her and she bolted “Mama! Papa!” she yelled as she scrambled tearfully through the trees.

Your mother has been talking about humans, and how they scared her, and her family before her. Her family were a herd of real wild mustangs..And you are a mustang descendant yourself. Do you have the same fear of humans? Do you tell her that? Are you close enough with your mother to really be able to say anything to her about..well anything? Why do you feel this way? [Whichever you choose].
Name: Aquene Name meaning [if any]: Native American name meaning "peace" Gender: Female Personality: Subdued Entry:
I didn't know why mother disliked the humans so very much, nor did I see why it was fear that drove her away from them.
I remember asking her one day when the early sun had woken from it's midnight slumber and was just cresting the hills, casting everything into golden hues. It was always an awe-inspiring sight, making even my breath still in my chest to save the muted moment within.
"Mother, why do you not like the humans?" I remember asking, to her shocked surprise.
"The...Humans?" She raised her head from grazing on the summer grass, her eyes wide.
"Yes, mother." I murmured, rather expecting her not to answer me. Her eyes held fear, and I was sure it was memories that caused her pause.
"The humans...are not to be trusted, you understand, Aquene?"
She said nothing more to me about the subject after that.
It was not long after that- when the leaves began to change from the vibrant green that I was so used to, to nearly the color of the fires I had seen in prairies during the drier portion of summer- that I finally found one of the reasons humans were feared by Mother.
A dream came to me, racing through my blood like flames, knocking breath from my lungs with the force of a hoof-kick.
In the dream, I saw a herd of beautiful horses, wild and free, grazing peacefully, a dark stallion watching over them with a regal air.
And then the squealing of frightened horses rang in my ears.
I was scared as well, but unable to run away from this dream, I let it carry me, my heart picking up the pace, running with the horses as they stampeded away across the discolored grass, away from something behind them.
I could not turn my head to see, fright binding me to my trek.
Whoops, hollers, loud voices that seemed to frighten me even more than anything in my subconscious, made me pick up the pace, but the noises closed with blinding quickness.
Humans!
Run from them!
Run quickly!
A squeal alerted me to the left that something had happened, and I watched a horse tumble to the ground, a rope capturing it's back leg, causing it to trip and fall.
And then another.
And another horse fallen.
The humans had such scary faces to my eyes.
Dark, grim eyes.
Reapers that came with rope instead of scythe.
No!
Go away!
Don't take us away!
It was a whirling cacophony of noise, full of frustration and pain.
It was the horses, the free spirits captured under the humans might, sending them down.
Broken spirits.
I watched as they were rounded up, a beaten, distant look in each pair of eyes.
They knew they were beaten.
I felt my throat grow hoarse, a fearful squeal erupting from my throat, turning it raw.
And then I was awake, breathing hard as if the distance I had covered in my dream were reality.
I was damp and shivering, my mother staring down at me, frightened by my noises.
"Aquene! Are you alright?" She asked, motherly emotion in her eyes, instinctive nature to care for her frightened foal.
I nodded solemnly as I clambered shakily to my feet.
"Mother...I hate humans."
The dream proved what had happened to my ancestors, once proud mustangs, mighty and free, captured by humanity and changed into broken ponies used for human purposes.
I didn't want to end up like that.
I wanted to remain as free as ever.
I had never felt such alien fear before. Tethered at the end of a rope was not where I wanted to end up.
"What's wrong, Aquene?"
"I had a nightmare, mother! It was horrible..."
