It does sort of come with the territory of older sibling, but we aren't all that bad.
I found some other authors who either enjoy my review style, or prefer me not to have the editing comments, so I'd say it's on the fence still. I may try the sending of them in messages idea, now that ff.net has made that system work better. Still it is shocking that someone doesn't want help to make their work better.

I haven't run into very many people that actually sit down and do that sort of thing in a review to one of my stories. I usually get the enthusiastic "I love it, update more" type of reviews. rolleyes
In theory, I do believe I'd love getting a detailed picking apart of one of my chapters just so I could grow as a writer. I just haven't had the experience of someone actually doing that.
I have sent editing notes on reviews for some stories where the errors were distracting me from the good parts. Plus, spotting mistakes has persuaded me to review sooner rather than wait when reading a long chapter fic. In the reviews that I have given, I just usually try to do the 5:1 ratio if at all possible: five positive statements to every negative remark.
But I agree, Lelandra, it is shocking. I happen to think the purpose of posting stories on FF.net is one: to improve your writing, two: to entertain, and three: to return to places in your imagination that other authors created.
