For the entirety of the exercise, he had been watching her closely. It was a bit strange, seeing such a shift. She had been doing well and then began to falter. It was then Tuyet started to realize something. From what he knew of her personality, it wasn't much of a surprise now. "You see?" he half-questioned, half-stated, stepping closer to her. "You can do just as well as any when you focus." If he was correct, her concentration had dwindled to nothing about the time she almost tipped into the water. While he couldn't imagine the path her mind had taken at that time, he was certain it was in quite an opposite direction in comparison to the task at hand.
"I think maybe..." his expression was deep for a moment as he pondered, c canting his head. "I think it would be good to practice with a very clear goal in mind." Smiling, he sent her a sideways glance. "Do you happen to know of any good clearings around here? It would be worthwhile to have you run in a straight line." Not knowing his way so well, he looked to her for guidance this time.

She thought a moment, then giggled. "I know a place. I go there to watch birds sometimes. Come on!" Gently, she tapped his shoulder with her horn, and then she took off at a trot. She weaved through the trees easily, clearly on a path that she knew well; occasionally, she looked back to make sure he was following.
"Come on, silly Tuyet! We've things to do~oooh!" her words ended in a squeal as she tripped over a log that hadn't been there on her her last visit to the clearing. She tumbled forward and ended up sprawled on her stomach, blinking and seeming rather stunned. "Huh. That's new. Oooh, look there's ant colony building a little hill!" she exclaimed, leaning in for a closer look.

Yes, they did have things to do. He would give her that one. And yet, having to pick up the pace quite a bit to keep up, he couldn't help but chuckle. That was one of the reasons, he was sure, that she had such trouble mastering herself. Always in a hurry. Lessons and life would pass by so quickly that way. No need to rush everywhere. Lifting his head, he meant to call up to her, only to catch the obvious sound of a mishap on the path ahead. Slowing, it didn't take long to find out just what.
Noting her sprawled form at the base of the log, he smiled, stepping to the side and leaping over the obstacle. It was his first instinct to rush to her side and try to help her up, but the simple fact that she seemed so excited about the small ant hill she spotted assured him that she probably wasn't injured. That was good news, at least.
Bending to her side, Tuyet examined the hill she had mentioned. Ants worked awfully hard, he supposed. Too bad they were so easily smushed. Turning to her, he spoke softly, a bit of joke in his voice. "No time to get distracted. I thought we had things to do."

"But... what if our things get in the way of their things?" she asked, and not unreasonably in her mind. "I wouldn't like it if I were building my home and somebody accidentally trampled it. We'll have to be careful, alright?" she grinned up at him, eyes sparkling, then pushed herself to her feet with a groan.
Twigs and leaves had tangled themselves in her hair, lending her a rather bedraggled appearance, but she didn't seem to mind. She giggled as she stepped carefully around the line of ants, and then she pranced into the clearing. "I love the feel of the sun, don't you?" she asked dreamily, turning her face up to the rays that fell on her now, enjoying them greatly. "It's like... like liquid warmth."
She giggled once more, then turned to face him again, head tipped to one side. He really was a nice stallion. Maybe she should bring him home to meet Alu. But would he like their cave dwelling? It was awful damp sometimes... it might not be good for his pretty accessory. She didn't want to be responsible for ruining it. And ooh, what if they didn't get along? That would be bad...
And that easily, she'd again slipped off into her thoughts, still staring at Tuyet.

"I'll be careful," he promised with a nod. As gentle as he was, it wasn't like him to watch carefully for the end of a line of ants before taking a step. For her, he would honor her request, though. In the time they had spent together, he was beginning to grow fond of his charge. No one had asked him to act as a teacher before. Otherwise he might have known himself suited for the job a long time ago.
Stepping out into the clearing, pale eyes narrowed, his face turning to the sky in a similar manner. "Love...? He looked contemplative for a moment. Love. Not so much. It was nice, it was warm, but he found himself wishing for a bit of shade most of the time. The sun where he was from was fine for warmth, but not for heat. Perhaps he was used to the cold and wrapping his scarf around himself a few more times to keep comfortable.
So no, not love, but like. Smiling, he gave a slight nod. "I do like it a bit." Of course, she seemed off in her own mental world again by the time he came up with an answer. He hesitated a moment in realization, staring back for a bit with the smile remaining. "Are you ready?" he questioned next, flicking his ears back. He hoped to get her full attention before explaining the next exercise.

"Hmm? Yes! I'm ready! Well, ready as I'll ever be." she told him with a giggle, trotting over to stand at his side. "You know, if I ever have foals of my own, maybe you could teach them too." she suddenly murmured to the stallion, blinking up at him. "I bet you know different things than Siliarial. She knows an awful lot, but I think you do too. Instead of just one teacher, they could have two. But that's only if I ever have any."
There was a pause, and then she swung her head forward, trying her best to focus on the task at hand. "Okay. I remember you saying something about running earlier. Is that what I'm going to do, run? Because Tuyet, I'm not very good at that. My hooves go all wonky and my brain and my legs stop working together, and then everything is bad."

Not quite expecting the turnabout in conversation, the male's eyes widened a bit. Not enough that it would be overly noticable, just enough to show his slight surprise before he turned to the female again. "I would be honored," he assured, head bobbing in a nod. "You need only seek me out. I will always be available for you." Bending a little closer, he smiled. "But don't rush yourself. I'm sure you will make a wonderful mother when your time is right."
Pulling back, he shook out his mane and subsequently most of the fluff along his form. "That's why we're going to practice," he muttered, quick shifts in topic becoming much easier for him with her help. "You'll definitely need to know how to run well in the future." Tossing his head, he eyed their surroundings, trying to find something that would be easy for her to remember in the flurry of wild flailing he couldn't help but imagine was to come. "You see that tree over there? The older looking one." It's bark was darker than most of the trees around it and it leaned a bit, heavy with the weight of many rotted looking branches. "We're going to trot to that one. Don't worry about running yet, but try to go a bit faster than a walk. Come on, I'll help you." He began forward without any further warning, glancing back to her thoughtfully.
