As he spoke she found herself surprised by a few things. The first being that he called her 'beautiful Jia' again. She had simply assumed that it was just going to be a one time thing. The second was that he wanted to spend more time with her and the third was that he found her interesting.
This simply wasn't the case. While she wouldn't deny her beauty, her parents had gifted her with lovely genes after all, she would deny how interesting she was. She was nothing more then an ordinary mare that enjoyed listening to the quiet and searching for rare things. There wasn't anything fascinating about that. Ryuu, on the other hand, was quite something. Between the character on his leg, the strange pattern of some great beat on his hind quarters and the secrets that seemed to lay waiting in his eyes he was quite the enigma. That made him interesting.
Her thoughts kept her firmly in place simply watching the stallion as he drank. So lost in her thoughts, was she, that Jia Li didn't notice the motion of his tail until she felt something cool, slimy and wet splash against her legs and chest. Glancing down she found the source of the strange feeling and gasped a little. He'd gotten mud on her.
"Ah-" The sound was soft and choppy as though she didn't know whether to laugh or be cross about it. She settled for giggling silently as she moved towards the stream to wash herself off. "It's quite muddy..." She said peering at him from the corner of her eye before wading out into the water. It wasn't just cool, it was plain cold but it felt nice and it was washing off the mud that had hit below her knee.

Drinking slowly he tried not to allow his eyes to wander towards her, instead he thought about those eyes. Pools of blue that sparkled and acted like diamonds, a million shades of blue, grey and turquoise mixing and swirling together to make something so detailed and unique no words could describe them, surely only someone of a majestic background would possess such enchanting eyes.
Of course he was soon awoken from his thoughts as he felt the air move around him signalling her movements, she was coming closer and closer until finally she was in the water, he noticed that her front was now speckled with mud and before he could stop himself he spun his head to his rump so that he could examine what had caused such damage. His tail? How could he have splashed her with mud –how thoughtless she must see him. Trying to smile he look back towards her with soft begging eyes, begging to be forgiven. "Only one such as yourself could make mud look so appetising." Ryuu was unsure what to do or say but felt that joining her and removing the thick layer of mud that now covered his tail and hind legs would be the best cause of action. It was cold, so much so that a soft shiver rushed through his body as he tried to adapt. Hesitantly he moved closer to her and bowed his head a little, "I am sorry beautiful Jia, please forgive me. Something about you makes me lose myself."
Raising his head he allowed his eyes to look at her once more, suddenly in that moment he felt an urge to kiss her and it took every ounce of his strength to resist temptation.

It seemed that he had made the decision for her. She found herself laughing gently at his words as she moved one legs back and forth under the water to clean herself. She had to disagree silently. There wasn't a thing in the world that could make mud seem appetising but she appreciate the comment all the same.
She felt the water shift as he approached and she put her foot down to better balance herself. Sea green eyes followed the ripples coming away from her own form collide with the second set coming from the golden stallion. As the time it took for the two sets to meet shortened she inclined her head upward to look at the curious stallion.
He bowed his head for a short time and spoke. The little smile that she often wore on her face vanished for a bit. Her lips parted in surprise and she felt heat rising to her cheeks. He seemed to have quite the habit of telling her things that her ears had never heard before. As he looked up she met his gaze. Before long she found herself staring deeply into the bright emerald depths of his eyes. She was captivated, like a magpie with a glittering gem, and it took her quite a long time to realize exactly what she was doing.
"I'm sorry," she said quickly turning her head down and to the right. "I wasn't my intent to stare..." Staring, she had learned, was rude. Jia Li had no desire to be rude to this stallion or anyone else. His words rang out in her ears' memory and she wondered if there was something about him as well that caused her to forget her manners in such a way.

It was all too easy for Ryuu Zu to find himself lost in her delicate blue eyes as she held his gaze for so long, it was a strange sensation since most seemed to avoid eye contact- or perhaps he was the one who usually avoided it? Saddened slightly when her gaze left him he found himself looking down at his reflection in the water. His jade eyes seemed to stand out against his golden pelt as his black hair waved and flowed over his cheeks. Her gentle words reached his ears causing them to wiggle and flicker to attention, her voice was full of harmonious notes that danced upon the air and just begged for attention.
Raising his head slowly to look at her, a small smile creeping onto his lips, "You don’t need to apologise to me m’lady." As he spoke his head shook softly as if he was attempting to reinforce the point. Stepping deeper into the cold water he moved closer to her and lowered his mouth to her rear leg softly before picking of a leaf and dropping it into the river, it never occurred to him that he was entering her personal space until it was too late, a bright blush spread quickly over his cheeks and he was sure that steam could be seen rising them. How could he completely lose himself around her like this?
Turning as quickly as he could without attracting more attention to himself, he made his way back towards the muddy river bank. The cool river water splashing his legs as he walked, soaking the fur and making each leg feel heavy. With each step away from her he found himself contemplating some sort of way to redeem himself- what was he planning to do here?
It took a few moments before he remembered his goal; he had heard rumours of an oasis of sorts within the dessert that held special properties and could grant the wish your heart most desired. For as long as he could remember he wished for the majestic spirit within him to be freed, although they had helped each other out many times through Ryuu’s life it just seemed unfair to keep his friend locked within himself. Closing his eyes for a moment before taking a deep breath, counting to three and turning his head to face her with a gentle smile peeled across his handsome features he spoke. "May I ask you a question Beautiful Jia? Have you ever heard of the Oasis that grants wishes?" Perhaps it was too soon to ask her outright to join him, after all he had no idea if such a thing even interested her- he knew so little about her, and yet he wanted to change that.

Too close! Her body stiffened slightly as he removed a leaf from her leg. Her face was impossibly hot as she took a few shuffling steps away from the stallion. She liked him well enough but that kind of closeness she reserved for people she had known for a good deal of time. Her mother had raised her well and she was a lady. Still, as she lifted her gaze from the surface of the water she noted that he had already put a good deal of space back between the two of them.
The heated blush faded from her cheeks as she observed him. Had she frightened him away with her rigid behavior or was he in the same embarrassed boat as she was? She bit the edge of her lip slightly as a feeling of guilt bubbled up in her heart. He may have been a bit forward with his actions but she had reacted poorly in the end.
She took a half step forward preparing to apologize just as he turned around. Once more a pinkish tinge appeared on her face but she resisted the urge to drop her gaze. Instead she faced him and listened with growing curiosity as he posed a question. "An oasis...? That grants wishes?" She had only heard of an oasis once before, they were pools of water that collected out in the sand. She never before had heard of such an unbelievable thing as one that could grant a wish.
Slowly she shook her head her mouth parted slightly in curiosity. "No I haven't..." As she continued to think on the subject a smile began to pull at the edges of her mouth. She lived on he love of knowledge so such an unusual phenomenon was hard for her to ignore. "Is it...far from here?" Jia Li was unable to keep the fascination and excitement out of her voice. It wasn't like such amazing things just walked up to her every day. This was an amazing opportunity.
