Hye-sang Collin_is_crazy Justoman Collin_is_crazy Itzhak Perlman is by far the best..... have you ever actually seen him perform? he is AMAZING!!! I have seen live most of the people in the poll, but he beats them all hands down... ninja hmm...i would have to disagree with you on that one. It is true that Itzhak has more EXPERIENCE than the others (simply because he is old), but i don't think he is a better violinist. His technique and method mastery are there, but he doesn't seem to play with the same passion as someone like Joshua Bell or Hilary Hahn. Each generation of violinists is getting younger and younger. Soloing isn't what it was like in Itzhak's time anymore...it is becoming more prestegious and competative. i would only partially agree with you... i still think that Itzhak is the best, but it does seem that Joshua and Hilary have more of a passion (i am personally glad to have seen them all biggrin ) (and now for my calling card for this guild: the ninja) xd rofl ninja ninja ninja *nods* okk. I can appreciate that. I'm rather glad you don't agree with me, though. xd you like to argue as much as me?!?

The greatest fiddler I've witnessed would have to be Donnell Leahy. If you ever get a chance to see Leahy in concert, do it. All.. 8 or 9 in the family that tour are fantastic.

xp Gregor Kitzis, he's the nefarious violinist of Voltaire. It may be a stretch to call the man better than Perlman, but the man is beautiful and does a damn good job and I love his compositions. ninja

Greatest Violinist ever?... Well I don't really know many great Violinists. xD Vanessa Mae maybe? I LOVE the devil's trill!
Greatest fiddler ever (in my opinion) would definately be Natalie MacMaster. =D Shes my hero. ...And after her... JayDean Ludiker, because she's my fiddling teacher. xD ok ok, don't count JayDean, but she does rock.

well... i went into this guild hoping to post Vanessa-Mae as my favorite... and then i expected to be flamed for it... tee hee... (she's not very well liked....) anyway! i forgot about that Niccolo Paganini dude... i think he is the best ever because he was the first ever world-famous violinist... and the rumors that were started about him... man! i wish i had been alive to see him perform... but then my next favorite has to be Vanessa-Mae... she has Mr. Paganini's birthday too... that always intrigued me...

Check out her husband, Donnell Leahy. Holy s**t, he's good.

i would say most technically skilled would be paganini. Though i dont like his compositions much, but seriosly, he could play twelve notes per second. Thats insane. Anyway, my actual favorite violinist would probably be hahn. I like her because shes not as like hyped as everyone else, like heifetz and milstein, dont get me wrong, their great violinists, but i dont know, i like heifetz's recordings because of their old fashioned sound, (because they were recorded a long time ago lol) but thats about all i have to say about this
