Nani stirred ever so slightly, but her body felt sluggish, which usually meant not enough sleep.So when that voice called out to her, a low whine escaped her throat, and she nuzzled her head into her paws, "...No....Shadow....It's too early...." she whined, grumbling a bit more into her paws, before realization hit her.
That wasn't Shadow. That was Comhnall.
Turning her body, she looked up at Comhnall sleepily. "....Comhnall? What?" looking around, she realized that she wasn't in her cozy den nuzzled up against Shadow. She was with Comhnall. That meant...
Jolting up with a start, Nani's eyes widened, "Shadow's gonna kill me! I stayed out all night! Crap!" for a moment a wave of dizziness took over her, but she assumed it was just from sleepiness. She looked to Comhnall, and tried to remember yesterday, but it was a blurb. Realizing she smelled like Comhnall, her eyes widened further, "Forget me! He'll kill you! Crap!" the girl began panicking. Shadow would think Comhnall had done soemthing terrible to her (xD) and would skin the poor guy!
"Oh dear.... I need to go find him right now and make an excuse... I'm sorry Comhnall... I don't think you should follow me back... I don't want you to get hurt. I'll talk to Shadow.... So I'll hopefully see you later if I'm not skinned." that last part was only a haf-joke. Moving to give Comhnall a good-bye lick on the cheek, she bolted out of the cave, feeling a bit odd....
Nani continued to run, until she was closer to her own territory. Sighing, she dipped into the river to try to clear up her scent, before she slowed, knowing Shadow would come to her.

Comhnall nudged Nani again. "It's not Shadow." he said, his grief making his voice barely audible.
"Rise and shine." he said when Nani looked up at him, trying to keep his voice light and playful. He was going to say more until Nani suddenly stood. His eyes widened slightly. He didn't think Nani would be the type to use that type of language. She was suddenly so... awake, that he had trouble getting past his surprise. He did, however, hear her say she needed to leave. "No. No, it's fine." he said, trying for a smile. He was about to wish her well, but it was too late. She was already gone. Shadow's ears pricked and he raised his head eye, sniffing the air. Nani's scent was there. His eyes widened and he ran towards the source, relief, anger, and surprise in his mind. He didn't think Nani would be there, so close to her old home where her family had been murdered. He had searched all afternoon and all night for her, and he felt angry that she just seemed to be casually taking a bath. Didn't she realize how much she worried him? At least she's safe, he thought before closing in on her. "Nani!" he called when she was within hearing reach.

Nani looked towards Shadow, and a sudden rush of guilt washed over her, causing her gut to twist. Her ears folded back, and her head drooped low. Why she felt so guilty, she wasn't quite sure. Sure, she spent the entire night out, but there was something eating at her concsious. Like she had done something REALLY bad.
Moving towards her Shadow, she continued to keep her head low to show him that she understood what she'd done wrong. (Even though she didn't know the half of it). "Shadow.... I'm sorry I was out all night.... I... I must have dozed off..." come to think of it, how did she end up in her old cave? Like, seriously?

Shadow halted to a stop in front of Nani, breathing hard. He was tired and would have happily flopped down for a good rest. "Nani." he repeated, giving her a quick nuzzle. He noted how she held her head low and he couldn't help but feel a little guilty. Had he been so cruel to her that she would submit to him only because she had dozed off?
"That's fine." he said, licking her muzzle. "Let's just go back." She was dripping wet but he still scented a small trace of another helix. Sometimes after Nani came from her trips, she would have that scent on her. He once thought she was cheating on him, but her love seemed so genuine he wiped the idea from his mind. He couldn't help but be curious, though. She had always given him an evasive answer when he asked.

Nani raised her head ever so slightly, and smiled a bit, nuzzling Shadow softly, "... Okay..." only glancing back a moment towards where her old home was, she pressed up agaisnt Shadow, keeping her head tuck under his chin. She felt strange. Definitely not enough sleep. She'd make sure to nap alongside Shadow when they got home. Still, that ache was on her chest and she had to let it out.
"Shadow....I.... I don't know why.... But I've this feeling I've done something terrible...." she mumbled into him, silently asking the question 'Would you leave me if I did something bad?' she didn't want to look up into his face while she felt this way, so she kept her eyes on their paws, biting at her lip.

Shadow was glad Nani agreed and started trotting towards home, his tail lifting and wagging happily when she pressed against him. She was already forgiven. He was so tired his eyes drooped along the way and he thought Nani spoke during one of those moments, but when he looked down at her, she wasn't looking at him and so he merely shrugged it away.
When they reached the cave they called home, Shadow immedietly curled up but he looked up to make sure Nani was there before he even attempted to go to sleep.

Nani followed Shadow into the cave, gently curling up beside him as he dozed. She definitely felt tired. Although she didn't think hers was out of lack and sleep. What had she done last night that had ended her up in Comhnall's cave? She decided to let it sllip from her mind for the moment as she allowed her eyes to glaze over, and shortly after Shadow she slipped into a dream world.
When she woke up, she felt woozy and disoriented. Sitting up, she shook her head, but that only made it worse. Whining, she pressed into Shadow, feeling that his scent could calm her down. When that didn't work she groaned some more. Ugh, she felt wierd. And gross. And.... Heavier? She decided it was just her laggy bain affecting her. Looking into Shadow's face, she sighed a little.
"...I wonder what you'd say if I told you I loved you..." she mumbled against his cheek, pressing her face lightly against his. His fur was soft and warm, and very comforting... Speaking of comforting, she wondered if Comhnall was alright. She had left so abruptly...

As soon as Nani was beside him, Shadow closed his eyes and fell asleep instantly, his tail instinctively curling around Nani. The familiar, warm prescence of Nani comforted him and he smiled as he slept. He was still asleep when she woke and when she whispered, he only though it was a blissful dream.
