Branimir growled playfully as the flames wrapped around him. He liked playing with fire and so as she rolled over and he was pinned beneath her he released a small stream of flames that licked her nose, though not hot enough to cause pain, and then he pushed up with his hindlegs and rolled out from beneath her. Prancing off to a few feet away he let off a firespin attack that he managed to control to stay around his body.
While all this was going on Raina had retreated with Jenette and was watching the beautiful display of flames, Raina always had been a bit of a pyro herself afterall. At Jenette's question Raina smiled and nodded then grasped her pokeball that contained her dewgong, Ayirwen, just in case. "Yah, Ayirwen knows a few good water attacks that'll cool them off real fast if she needs too."

Jenette laughed, "Cool them off? I'm more worried about myself and the trees." Looking back to the canines she smiled, they sure knew how to make flames beautiful.
Rufio watched the fire spin and thought for a moment. With a graceful flick of her tail her body turned every so smoothly and at the perfect moment she let out a Fire Blast, holding the flaming character of fire, in front of her. She repeated the process a few times until there was a character on each side of her. With a raised brow and a challenging bark she waited.
Jenette looked to Raina... "That's impressive... I didn't know she knew how to do that...." It was obvious Jenette was ready to just sit and watch the competition.

Raina laughed with her friend "I suppose that would be a problem wouldn't it? Well, she's ready if we need her." her attention still on the firey canines she gasped at Rufio's fire blast display. "I wonder how he'll top that one?" she mused aloud.
Branimir snorted as if her display had no effect on him but really he was fascinated at her impressive display. Well... he couldn't let her show him up, that's no way to impress a lady. He lifted his head and let out a fireblast straight into the air above them. Once the symbol was lingering there, about 15-20 feet above him he stepped back a few paces then let out another firespin, once again engulfing him, though this time completely, in flames. He looked over at Rufio, just to be sure she was watching and then shot off like a rocket and launched himself straight through the center of the fire symbol in the sky, doing two front flips before he touched the ground.
"Wow... I didn't know I had a Moltres!" Raina exclaimed as she watched Branimir's display of pyrotechnics and she laughed as she watched the flames slowly dissipate from his body.

Rufio watched, her eyes were shining with interest and her heart was fluttering every so slightly. Was it because of this flame show or the fact that this other growlithe was trying to impress her? She knew she was trying her hardest to do so to him...
It was then she decided she wasn't going to try and out do that, she knew she couldn't jump that high or look as nice doing it. Chances were she would eat it when she landed. Instead she slowly walked towards him, her eyes locked on his. As she neared him she blew out a thin stream of fire, letting the fire like ribbon circle him and twist around his body. After it had licked his nose she sat down, letting the fire ribbon wind its way around her.
Rufio had completely forgotten about the trainers. She felt like she was back in the wild again. There were few growlithes that could do what thye had just done...
Jenette was awestruck by the performance. With a silent look to Raina she watched them, she couldn't take her eyes away if she wanted too...

Branimir watched Rufio carefully and when she started towards him he caught her gaze and held it. The thin ribbon of fire toyed with his fur and it felt soothing somehow as it touched his nose he sat down and breathed out his own ribbon, slightly darker in color than her own and it wrapped around the both of them like a blanket, sheilding them from the rest of the world. There was nothing in existance but the two of them, there in that clearing and it had Branimir's heart racing though he tried not to show it. This female had just completed the most beautiful display he had ever seen and he had seen quite a few while he was out in the wild before Raina had tamed him. He slowly leaned forward, almost touching her nose with his own but stopped short waiting to see what she would do.
Raina watched all of this in awe and caught her friend's gaze, they both turned back to their pokemon at the same time and Raina found herself unable to look away. She had heard of the rituals that fire pokemon performed when looking for mates but never had she seen one and she was sure she had just witnessed one of the best ever performed. It was all she could do to keep her mouth closed and stop her eyes from watering.

It was when Branimir twisted in his own flame ribbon that Rufio knew what to do. This was what felt right... she pressed her nose to his and licked his muzzle, her ribbon winding tighter with his to merge together.
Still incapable of speech, Jenette reached out for Raina and pulled her close, trying to keep back the tears of joy. It was so beautiful and amazing! She had never witnessed such a thing in her life! Is this what Spalding, her raichu had done when he met Faith? Had they had such a union like this?
Rufio turned and laid next to Branimir, her head resting on her paws. The display had definitly tuckered ehr out and now she had someone to cozy up with. With a satisfied look in her eyes she looked up to him, and a little redness came to her cheeks.

Branimir's tail swished slowly from side to side when she touched his nose and he licked her muzzle in return, binding his fire with her own and creating a beautiful glowing ribbon around the two of them that flared out and danced in the slight breeze that entered the clearing. Branimir moved himself so he was laying down behind her and he rested his head on her side a low rumbling growl was emitted from him, "I shall protect you always."
Raina hugged Jenette happily as she watched the two growlithes cuddling up together and she too fought hard to keep back the tears of joy. "They're beautiful together..." she whispered, just barely audible.

FAST FORWARDING!
Watching the growlithes' display had been something different and exciting for both Raina and Jenette. Needless to say they were going to be seeing a lot more of each other as Rufio couldn't stand being away from Branimir for much longer then a couple hours... A day had nearly killed Jenette... literally.
Jenette had left Raina for only a day, needing to go into town for a couple things and make a routine visit to the PokeCenter... more for herself then for her pokemon. She had a few good burns on her from trying to keep Rufio at bay but a hormone driven arcanine was hard to handle. It was a quick decision for Jenette to evolve Rufio before anything serious between her and Branimir happened. She didn't want her poor little body to give out on her. She only hoped that Raina had done the same thing...
"Easy Rufie! If you'd just calm down we can hurry back!" She cooed to the shaking pokeball in her hands. She had already managed to bust out a couple times.

Breathing heavily Jenette looked around the spot where she said she'd meet Raina. "Aww come'on! Raina are you here!?" She called as Rufio manage to break out of her pokeball again, an antsy look on her face as she scanned, sniffed, and howled for Branimir.

Raina sighed as Branimir pawed anxiously at the door. "Just a minute boy, I gotta get some stuff packed first!" she called to him from the kitchen as she rapidly threw things in her backpack. Suddenly a big orange and black head was peeking around the corner and whining pitifully. "Alright alright let's go!" and she hurried to get the door before her anxious arcanine busted it down. Once outside she climbed on his back and grabbed onto his fluffy mane of fur as he shot off like a rocket towards where they always met with Jenette and Rufio.
A few minutes later, thanks to Branimir's extremespeed, they arrived and Raina saw Jenette and Rufio standing there waiting already. Branimir lay down so Raina could climb down and then ran over to Rufio, headbutting her playfully and licking her muzzle.
"Hi! Sorry we're late, I grabbed us some lunch first." she called as she walked towards her friend.

Rufio's tail wagged wildly as she heard the approaching. She barked happily and was knocked off balance a little by Branimir's headbutt, appreciating their bigger sizes. She shot a small fire ball at him and licked his nose before tackling him.
Jenette sighed with relief but flinched when Branimir headbutted Rufio, it almost sounded like smashing rocks. Shaking her head and smiling she headed over to Raina. "I sure hope Rufio gets over her lovesickness soon... she hurts!" She exclaimed, showing Raina the healing burns on her fingers and forearms. "Someone's going to think I got into a fight with the stove and lost..."
Sitting down to enjoy the warm afternoon, Jenette pulled out her own lunch, happy she remembered it this time. She patted the ground next to her, she and Raina both knew that their playfullness didn't die down for a while...

Branimir snorted and shook his head as the fireball hit his nose and then felt Rufio's wet tongue licking the burning spot and all of a sudden he was bowled over laying on his back with his beautiful lady pinning him down. He growled playfully and wiggled side to side trying to throw her off so he could get up and run around.
Raina shook her head and laughed at the arcanine's antics. They still acted just like that first day they met and it had been quite awhile since then. When Jenette showed her the burn marks Raina gasped "She burned you? How did she manage that? The worst Branimir has done is break one of the tables in the house." yes, Raina kept her arcanine in the house like she always had though he was almost the size of it now, good thing she had high ceilings.
Raina sat down next to Jenette and pulled out her lunch as well, a giant sub sandwich with all the good stuff on it, delicious! "You know... it's just going to get worse if they have puppies." she mused aloud to her friend.

Rufio was way ahead of him, as soon as he had started squriming she bolted off, her longer legs taking her farther. She howled happily as she bolted away from him, knowing he would be able to catch up in no time.
"I told you she's a wild one! These ones," she pointed to her fingers, "were from her shooting flames all over the place in her pokeball and they somehow managed to leak through. These," pointing at her forearms, "was because I was playing to rough with her." She laughed, "I'm no Branimir." Shrugging she looked to where Rufio had disappeared, "They will heal without a scar, I have burn cream from the PokeCenter." Grinning she bit into a piece of cold chicken.
"I don't like keeping her in her pokeball, but she won't listen to me... she's too obsessed with her new found love." She knew that was probably because she didn't have any badges... mentally sighing, she knew she was going to have to get some.

As soon as the weight was off of him Branimir rolled to his paws and was after her. Loping gracefully across the ground and slowly closing the distance letting her think she was faster. Then he let out a firespin attack that wrapped around her and caressed her fur gently before emitting a howl that could be interpreted only one way "I love you" and he suddenly stopped and waited, his tail swishing slightly behind him, awaiting her reaction.
Raina listened to her friend's recounting of her injuries and laughed "Maybe you should get an ultra ball instead, and leave the rough housing too the house-sized canines." Taking a bite of her sandwich Raina sighed, she loved a good fresh sandwich!
"I don't keep Branimir in his, I usually ride him around, I think he still listens to me because I always spent time with him and never had him in his ball when he was a growlithe. Though it probably wouldn't hurt if I got some badges... Amaryllis, my raichu, decided that she doesn't need to take orders from me anymore." Raina took another bite of her sandwich, her eyes straying to the two fire pokemon in the field.

Rufio circled back, slowing to a walk when she wasn't too far away from him. A doggish smile was on her face as she emitted her own flame towards him, a modified fire blast. The symbol was obviously to forms, two torsos that seemed to be entwined in some kind of canine hug. It was her own form of saying "Together Forever". As she drew up to him she licked his cheek and nuzzled his neck.
"Ultra ball... check!" She agreed with a chuckle. "Yeah, rough-housing with house-sized canines doesn't work... It doesn't even seem to work with a Ninetales either." She grinned.
"Perhaps I should let her out and about more... Venna could always help me track her down if she got too far away... then again, I think the only place she would run to is where ever Branimir is...." She sat back, deciding what to do next, eating-wise, and she looked to Raina. "You know... partner battles would be a fun way to compete at a gym... or a way to run one..." She grinned.

Branimir's tail wagged harder and he yipped happily when he saw her display. Obviously she'd been practicing. He licked her back and nuzzled her before laying down at her feet and looking up at her expectantly waiting for her to lay down beside him.
"Oh, how is it going with your ninetales anyway? How many do you have now?" Raina asked, recalling that one of Jenette's pokemon had found a partner awhile ago.
"If she shows up at my house both of them can stay outside I don't have room for two giant dogs inside of my house." she laughed then at the thought of two arcanines squished inside her three-bedroom single-story house. "Partner battles hmm? Sounds like a fun idea to me! Can you imagine having Branimir and Rufio tag teaming? They're so in-sync it's unbelievable."
