Ebby laughed and pat Josh lightly on the arm. "It's okay, I like cooking." she assured him, "And I'm sure that can be arranged at some point."
The girl nodded at Vinny's suggestion. Yes toasted cheese sounded reasonable. "Yeah, I can do that. Do you guys mind getting the stuff out for me?"

Josh nodded. "I look forward to it." He said, with a smile. He always liked making new friends, it was one of his specialties. As long as said new friend liked using their imagination. He lifted he lid to the bread box, and handed her a bag of sliced bread.
"Sure." Vinny said, getting a pan from a bottom cupboard. "Here you go." He said, "I'll get the butter and cheese."

The older spawn smiled, taking the bits and pieces and beginning the assembly. It wasn't long at all till she was toasting up a few sandwiches for the three of them and not too long after that till everything was just about ready.
"All right boys, do you mind getting out the plates and whatnot? These are almost done." The girl called cheerfully to her wards.
(I am paraphrasing here because unlike the Ebbers, the Deeg can't cook XD)

Vinny took out the plates and handed them to Ebony with a smile. "Here." He said. He frowned at Josh's knowing smile--the older boy was all but saying 'Vinny has a crush!' "Want to sit at the table?" Vinny asked.
Josh took out a gallon of milk from the fridge. He poured three glasses, and set them on the table.

The purple female seemed completely unaware of the exchanged looks between the boys as she carefully dished their sandwiches onto the plates she'd been handed. Turning off the stove, the girl proceeded to turn around and carry their meals to the table. "Here we go, sandwiches, all ready to go."

"Thank you." Vinny said with a smile. He sat at the table, and took a sip of milk. He set the glass back down carefully, out of habit, and took a bite of the sandwich. Heaven. Well, anything after facing the fear that you'd be eating burnt pasta was.
"Yeah, thanks." Joshua agreed, looking at Ebby. "I thought I'd have to put up with Vinny's cooking all day."
Vinny frowned slightly, but didn't say anything. He knew he wasn't good at it. Did his brother have to rub it in?

"Oh I'm sure you could have worked something out. Practice makes perfect, maybe after a while you'd get the hang of it." the girl suggested with a smile, patting Vinny on the arm and returning to her sandwich. Really, not much else to say to them on that front. But she was trying.
"So, what do you boys do for fun?"

"We would have ordered out--like pizza or something." Josh replied. "We do that when Mom's not around--she usually is though. She's the cook--best cook on Gaia!" He said proudly. "Oh, you make sandwiches just as good as she does." He added, smiling at Ebby.
Vinny silently agreed. Their mother was the best cook on Gaia. "For fun.." He looked thoughtful. "Mostly we play pretend--or play outside. I don't think Mom'd like us to go outside while she's asleep though.. Do you want to play with us?"

Ebony grinned back at him, "I'm sure her's a bit better." she commented softly, "But thanks."
The other boy's question prompted her to blink her eyes in that strange way she did without opening them. "Sure, though what do you have in mind to play? I'm not in the mood to play hide and go seek again, after having to watch Cody."

Joshua quickly shook his head. "She's better at making fancy foods." He said. "I think she gets a little lost when attempting lunch foods." He fell silent when he noticed his mother stir on the couch, but she merely turned over, and kept sleeping. He gave a relieved sigh.
Vinny rolled his eyes when he heard Cody's name. "I don't like playing hide-n-seek with him either." He admitted. "He's too.. Patient."

Ebby smiled, "I'm sure it takes a lot of skill to do fancy foods. I haven't mastered those yet." she explained, glancing over at their mother when she stirred.
"Ah, I'm just not very comfortable with play hide-and-seek, particularly when there's only one other person in the house."

"Yeah. I can't even make soup without burning it." Joshua complained. "Vinny's worse--he can't make toast. One time he--" He was interrupted by an annoyed looking Vinny.
"One time you put a potato in the microwave without putting holes in it and it blew up." He retorted. His brother just grinned. "Want to play tag or something?" He asked. "Maybe a board game?"

"Board games are fun." Ebony agreed with a nod, "What ones do you have?" she inquired. The older female purposefully ignored the pair of them talking about their sibling's faults. It was best to just keep that out of her mind.

Vinny stuck his out his tongue at his brother before looking back to Ebby. "Monoply, Clue, um, Madgab--tons. Card games too, like Uno." He said. "Mom likes to play them we go camping--or when it's raining." He explained. He looked over to his mother, who was still sleeping.
Joshua nodded, ignoring Vinny. "We could play Uno." He said. "Or Trouble, or Sorry."
Vinny brightened at that. "Yeah, let's play Sorry!" Apparently, despite the boys' differences, they got along about one thing.
