Gee Bag Face
EHHHHHHHHHH WHAT DO U THINK? COURSE THEY SHOULD GIVE IT BACK. ITS ******** OURS. IMAGINE SAY..... MEXICO PUT AN ARMY TOGTHER. CAME ACROSS THE BORDER, RAPED AND PILLAGED THEIR WAY AWAY THE COUNTRY YEAH , AND THEN IT WAS UNDER MEXICO LAW. AND JUST CAUSE A FEW YEARS WENT BY , WOULD YOU'S ALL BE OK WITH THAT??????? EH NO......
THE BRITISH INVADED IRELAND... ARSE RAPED THE WHOLE PLACE, TOOK AWAY OUR LANGAUGE, OUR RELIGION, OUR MUSIC, EVERYTHING THAT WAS IRISH.... AND KILLED PEOPLE WHO DIDNT TAKE IT. THATS A LOAD OF GEE.
FAIR PLAY TO THE IRA,
I DONT CARE ABOUT IRELAND NOT HAVING THE MONEY TO SUPPORT THE 6 COUNTYS , ID LIVE IN POVERTY TO HAVE THEM BACK . SICKENS ME TO THINK THAT QUEENY C*NT OWNS THE TOP OF OUR COUNTRY.......

HOPEFULLY WITH THE WORK OF THE *SINN FEIN* WE'LL GET IT BACK IF IT TAKES BRUTE FORCE....
Ulster isn't Ireland's land, it's Ulster's land, and most of Ulster favours remaining part of the UK. Erefore, Ireland has no right to it. Period. Ulster should only be gien back to Ireland when it's people vote for such a measure.

As for your Mexico example, may I remind you that California, Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico originally belonged to Mexico, and were taken by America in an unjust war of aggression? By your logic, those states are still rightfully Mexico's property.

As for your brute force comment, any attempt by Ireland to take Ulster by force is an immoral invasion of a foreign nation, and Britain won't tolerate it. Since Britain could kick Ireland's a** with half it's military behind it's back, provoking them is not smart. Not that I don't like the Irish, but their military is not particularly powerful.

Been a while since I've been back here! >.< I love this thread~!!

@Sahandrian: I understand how you're feeling, and I feel the same way. Just remember that the queen is nothing more than a sock puppet to the English government; though. Every word she says is carefully planned to match her personality, and to voice the government's take on the current situation.
But also, unification may have been a lost cause after all. . . The United Kingdom plans to release Ulster, however-- they refuse to give it back to the Republic. Their intentions? For Ulster to break from the Republic as it's own country, completely relying on England as it had. England refuses to give us our reunification, as it would lead to a threat unto the United Kingdom, I suppose.
However, I guess it's up to the people in Ulster to decide now. If you think deep down, you'll know they wouldn't want to join the republic anyway. Only 20% of the Ulster population keeps strong ties to the Republic (last I checked), and the rest are either Scottish and English implants or people who enjoy the benefits of the United Kingdom. I imagine some will beg The United Kingdom to take them back once this settles, sadly. All I know is that the Republic is not happy.

My opinion, tsk tsk. xD

Well I'm not so sure how that's going to go considering how the election went a few weeks back. Nationalist parties have gained the upper hand.

Ulster should be given back to the Republic in all earnesty. My great grandfather left Ireland because he was disgusted with the partition of Ireland (and he might have done something wrong during the Civil War when he was with the IRA). My family's been taught about the abuses the Brits have put on our homeland and I still believe that Ulster is just one of the four regions of Erie, not one of the four regions of the UK.

When I think of the fact that 2016 is coming up very fast and very soon, and if the country isn't freed and united by then, the CIRA and RIRA dissidents might actually have enough support to throw the province into another Long War, and I can't see the Republic not being supportive of it. I think if the men who were executed for the Easter Rising were to find that the country they fought and died for wasn't unified by the hundred year mark, they'd be rolling in their graves faster than a merry-go-round.

It also brings to mind the Bobby Sands quote that everyone and their grandmother's used by now, "An Ireland unfree will never be at peace".

I honestly believe that to be truer than true in this case. Not because I want war, but because I want a unified country.

Not to mention if this happened, it'd just appeal to the UFF's original base that that'd cause more bloodshed.

Oh and Gee? If you insult me for being an American talking about Irish affairs you can get ********. My family's only been American for two generations and part of me wishes my great grandfather had stayed so I could have. I find America's government no better than England's and just as imperialist, and it's past of hatred against Irish immigrants is shameful. Let's not forget that my great grandfather fought for the land you live on and I'd gladly go back to Ireland to live as soon as I get the money. Unlike most ******** Americans who say they're Irish, I know what I'm talking about and find their idealised and commercialised versions of Ireland and Irish culture ******** shameful. This includes my own mother, which would probably make my Grandmother annoyed as hell whenever she wears a "Kiss me I'm Irish" pin on St. Patrick's Day.

Oh and Jabels? Just be glad to know I shed no tears over Arizona and all the southwest being all butthurt over the Mexicans coming over the border. It's their land just as much as Ulster is Ireland's land.

I would love to see Ireland reunified as much as you do, Fish. I just don't think it should be done until Northern Ireland is good and ready for reunification. Forcing reunification before that point is simply going to ignite more violence, and lead to a repeat of the Troubles. Perhaps a Plebiscite could be held on the issue every five years or so, with reunification occurring once Northern Ireland votes for it. That seems the fairest way to go about reunification and the least likely to result in hard feelings and years/decades of bloodshed.

As for your response to my Southwestern US comment, I would, as a native Californian, have to say I sympathize with illegal immigrants more so than Arizona. How many Americans could honestly say they wouldn't do what illegal immigrants are doing? Hell, this country is built on such people. Then we have my opinions on Native Americans, my favourite group of cultures besides the Celts. My intent with the comment was to point out that most land has been unjustly conquered at one point or another. Hell, even the Irish stole land from Britain (It was a couple thousand years ago, and the British took it back.).

I agree with you on this one, though you probably know more about the subject than me. I know enough to be fairly sure that corned beef is an Irish immigrant dish and not an Irish dish, but not too much more. Perhaps you could start a thread here about what is actually part of Irish culture and what is thought to be part of Irish culture but isn't. It would be a worthy addition to the guild, and I (And many others in this guild, I am sure) would take great interest in learning to tell what is and isn't actually Irish.
