Aliana was aware he had started to say something, but the pounding of her own heart made it almost impossible to hear anything else. She wasn't lying to herself, she was terrified of this helix, he was a shapeshifter for goodness sake! It was stupid but she wasn't going to back down. When her teeth latched around his shoulder, it was more of a surprise to her then it was to him. She was so sure that he would have expected her to attack and moved away easily. Hadn't he been prepared for this? He'd started it! As he shook himself, her teeth were removed from his shoulder by the movement. Sliding a little as she stepped back, growling at him. She waited for his next move, her heart thudding painfully in fear.

Cheveyo was glad that she didn't have a good enough a grip on his shoulder to hold on. He decided was going to hold back a little because the female didn't have much experience in combat and defense. Her moves were evidence enough of that. He ran at her and snapped at her front feet to get her distracted a little. Then he shifted and grabbed at her left hind paw with his teeth. He was trying a classic move to trip her up and break her focus even if just a little bit.

Gasping as the helix ran at her, snapping at her feet, she unconsciously fell back a few steps, trying to raise them up out of his reach. By raising her front paws, she allowed him to get a grip on her hind paw. Yelping, unbalanced by her own stupid move, she felt herself falling sideways and knew she'd be almost completely defenseless if she didn't do something soon. Flicking her front paws, she aimed her claws towards his face, hoping to scratch him and get him to release her. As she fell to her side on the ground, she kicked out her back legs in an attempt to push him away.

Cheveyo took a blow from her claws in his face due the way he was holding her back paw. He bit down harder on the paw for a second then released it and danced back to dodge the blows from her front paws. He shook his head to clear his right eye and blood splattered everywhere. "Badger's feet," he cursed. Angered he launched himself at Aliana aiming for her head claws outstretched. He didn't like anyone giving him Injuries and he hardly had to deal with this because most helixes left of their own accord after they heard he was a shapeshifter. Not many helixes ever really tested his authority.

Aliana's eyes widened as she saw the blood on Cheveyo's face. Aliana was proud, and she liked to think she was brave sometimes, but she would never be cruel. A pang in her chest pained her as she watched the blood splatter, her back paw was bleeding heavily from where his fangs had pierced her skin but for a moment, she forgot about it. “I'm so-” she started to apologize, gaze still locked on the blood. Her words were cut off when he launched himself back at her, obviously enraged. She was still lying on her side, defenseless, so when she spotted his attack, she tried to roll back onto her feet and leap away. She made it halfway to her feet when his claws made contact with the side of her face, she was knocked back to the ground as his attack hit target.

Cheveyo didn't care that she had started to say something when he pounced towards her. He easily gets blinded by rage in the heat of battle. He was surprised at how well she was doing for an amateur or maybe he was off today. His mind drifted back towards Fallen. He was happy that he made contact. He snapped at her face as a warning then backed off hoping her lesson was learned. He sat down by a tree and shook his head again. He wondered what she was going to do after that. Maybe she would go running for her parents or she would attack him. He glared over at her with his left eye because the blood was making him blind in the Right eye

Her heart thudded painfully when he snapped at her face, though it was only a warning and, with a rush of relief, she realised he was backing off. Was he giving up? Did that mean she'd won? Or did he really think she was beaten already? Rolling onto her stomach as he walked over to the tree, she tested her balance as she climbed to her feet. She stayed of the back paw he had latched onto, which was still bleeding heavily. Glancing towards him, trying not to look at the right side of his face where the blood was. “Giving up?” She remarked airily, wobbling a little on her feet. She stumbled, putting her back paw down and wincing as the pain rippled up her leg. Yelping, she collapsed back to the ground, wincing as her paw continued to throb. Closing her eyes, she waited for it. He was either going to laugh or come back to finish her off, or both. Stupid pride.

Cheveyo didn't usually back off in battle but he didn't want to go too hard on a female adolescent. He growled "I'm not giving up! I just got distracted," when she asked if he was giving up. he looked a little uncertain which was unusual for him. He laughed when she collapsed to the ground. "Have you heard of balancing on 3 paws," He asked. He knew it worked and was rather good at it. He had gotten a paw stuck in a human trap once when he was a puppy.

She glared at him, though it wasn't really in anger, she was mearly disgruntled. “Is a battle with me that boring that you can actually get distracted?” She sounded almost insulted at his statement, despite that it meant she got a break from what had been proving to be a painful fight. Huffing as he laughed at her, “I've never had to try!” She pointed out, scrambling back onto her feet. Unfortunately, she over balanced herself once again and went tumbling back to the ground. “I usually have all four paws at my disposal when I'm trying to stand,” she grumbled, lifting herself back onto her feet. She kept her back paw tucked up so it wasn't close to the ground, looking rather ridiculous as she tried to balance there. “Right!” She said, looking proud that she was managing to stand again, even though a small wind would probably knock her back over.

Cheveyo snarled at Aliana. Warning her against talking like that to him. "It was an old enemy acting up again. If you would like I could still kill you," He growled. He wasn't going to put up with her talking to him like that. He turned so the wounded side of his face was showing towards her. He had noticed how she reacted to it. "Well now will be a good time to learn," he said. "Well good job. looks like old helixes can learn new tricks," he said clearly mocking her even though she wasn't that old. Once again his mind drifted towards the vampire helix from the north that had a flaming paw.

“You were thinking of another enemy while we were fighting?” She asked, sounding a little disgruntled. It was an odd thing to say or to get upset about but Aliana liked being, not the center of attention, but she liked it when the person she was concentrating on was at least returning the favour! The fact that he'd gotten distracted by someone else who wasn't even there was almost an insult! Shuddering at the sight of his wounded face, she glared at the ground as she tried to stand properly. As she succeeded, she transferred her glare to him as he began to mock her. “You must be having memory problems already, I'm not the old one here,” she pointed with a faint sneer, wobbling a little on her feet.

"Yeah I was. So what?" Cheveyo retorted almost sounding uninterested. He had been so angry that he had forgotten about his shoulder. The pain came back like a wave and he lifted his left paw up off the ground. He let out an odd laugh "Ironic, huh," Cheveyo said now standing on 3 legs like Aliana. He sat down again. "No my memory is fine. To us Shapeshifters Adolescence IS old," Cheveyo growled back. He lay down and rested his head on his paws "My name is Cheveyo," he said.

“It's very rude,” Aliana growled, huffing at his uninterested tone. Watching as he lifted his paw up and laughed, she snorted, “ha! Now we're even!” Meaning their three legs of course, since technically they weren't even if she counted the eye injury on the male. Unable to help herself, she found herself curious over his statement. “Why? Are ShapeShifters slow growers?” She asked, having never met a ShapeShifter before and had only ever been told to simply stay away from them. Well, that hadn't happened, so she might as well learn something from him while he was there. Watching him lay down, she looked confused. Were they not fighting anymore? She sat down as well, still a distance from him in case he turned hostile again. She gave a soft whine as her back paw came in contact with the ground, sending pain shooting up her leg. Wincing, she tried to ignore it, concentrating on him instead. Feeling a little bemused when he mentioned his name, she felt it only polite to respond. “I'm Aliana, nice to meet you,” she said, added the last part mostly as a joke, seeing as they had both received injuries from their meeting. It could hardly be classified as 'nice'.

"So, I'm not fair nor nice," Cheveyo replied evenly. He totally ignored her comment about even knowing that they weren't truly even. "Yes Shapeshifters are slow growers. Very slow indeed," He replied knowing she had probably been warned about them but not taught of the Shapeshifters. He observed her sitting down but realized she was still on edge. "Greetings Aliana, Welcome to my territory," Cheveyo replied before standing back up. "I'll be right back," he said quickly before limping off into the woods in search of the healing plants he could smell near them. Cheveyo returned shortly after with a mouthful of plants that helped blood clot. He limped over to Aliana and set so down in front of her. Then he limped back to where he had been and lay back down. "You chew them and then rub the paste onto the wound. It stings a little but it helps," he said after setting down the rest of the leaves. He picked some of the leaves up and started chewing them.

Aliana started at his words, welcoming her to his territory. She opened her mouth, ready to retort that it wasn't his, but closed her mouth firmly. Technically it was his, her territory and her parents territory had ended long ago, plus she really didn't feel like getting attacked again...yet. “Thank you,” she said softly but he was already up and moving away. Watching him leave, she sighed and flopped to the ground, resting her head on her paws and focussing on ignoring the pain in her paw. Glancing up as he returned, she tensed as he limped over to her, feeling slightly guilty at the sight of his mangled paw and injured eye. Watching as he dropped the plants in front of her, nudging them with her paw and sniffing them as he walked back to his spot. She understood what he meant but still, she waited until he had started to chew them before she tried them herself. “Thank you,” she repeated, and began to chew the leaves. She carefully rubbed the paste onto her back paw awkwardly twisting while still laying, whining quietly, almost inaudibly, at the sting. Glancing back at Cheveyo, she asked, “what are you going to do about your face? Are you able to rub the paste on it?”
