[O___O; HOLYREPLIES.]
Kaedrelath had a pretty good view down the beach from his sandy wallow. He lacked in company, though. Half-asleep, the lithe blue heaved a great sigh and picked up his head, warbling quietly to himself as he watched his rider enjoy Kella and Abi's company. Well, napping isn't such a bad thing. Especially not with all this free space to myself! Kaedrelath forced himself to make the best out of his solitary situation, his lonely warble making a crescendo into happy. Away from his crowded weyr, Kaedrelath had all the room in the world! He could spread his wings and touch neither of his green roommates here!
Be careful what you wish for, though!
The blue lifted his head to scan the skies, his attention caught by an incoming green. She looked vaguely familiar, but Kaedrelath did not immediately recognize her. There were so many dragons in Ista Weyr, could he be expected to know them all? No. Hardly. Kaedrelath rumbled a pleasant-enough greeting to his new companion, shifting himself and indicating that she could join him in his cool wallow. Afternoon, Astarteth! I am Kaedrelath, and my rider M'zaji wanders down the beach. He also searches for a firelizard clutch! Kaedrelath threw his head back and rumble-chirped, his laughter ringing out over the flat, sandy beach.
M'zaji was still astounded at Kella's rant. How dare she speak ill of the Weyrleaders! M'zaji was one of those riders with blind faith and trust in his leaders. They were doing all they could to solve the Weyr's problems, he was sure of it! Why else would they be called the Weyrleaders? Thankfully, his attention was snatched away by another rider. Her knots made her out as a greenrider, but M'zaji had deduced that much simply by watching her green fly in. He paused and remained rooted to his spot, waiting for Kallista to cover the distance between her dragon and himself. He inclined his head politely, a smile spreading across his face. "Good afternoon, Kallista! I am M'zaji, and that there is my blue- Kaedrelath. You're looking for an egg? What a coincidence!" M'zaji's smile transformed into a grin, and he indicated Kella and Abi. "We also scour the beach for eggs- the gold's clutch."
"Why do you keep calling me 'miss'? I'm just a kitchen worker, like you. Enough of this silly 'miss' business," Kella harshly instructed Abi, waving her hand at him to dismiss his titles. She wrinkled her nose, displaying clearly her dislike at being titled more than she was. "Its just Kella," she emphasized, forcing herself to smile. "Okay?" Kella then became confused, listening to what Abi said. "Perhaps you'll be able to keep one? Man, you're daft. It we find the clutch, then I'll be damned if you don't get to keep one! Two, even! I mean, it all depends on how many there are-" Kella warily eyed the quickly growing number of people on the beach. WHAT?! Where were they all coming from? Kella scowled openly. It was Ista's beach, and she supposed that just about anyone from the Weyr could come down here, if they wanted.
WHOA. Kella's eyes went wide as a darting glimpse of gold caught her eye. "M'ZAJI!" She yelled, excitement soaring. Was it- yes! It had to be! The wild gold! "Look! There! Near the waves!" She yelled to the bluerider, grabbing his attention and turning it to where Pyrite dove and screamed at the incoming waves. M'zaji followed her direction, and also found C'ren and Ceylith. "Kella.." M'zaji called back, gesturing towards the greenrider, indicating that the gold was most likely his. Kella's grin immediately turned into a frown. Damn! They had been so close! (Not really.)
"Is she... yours?" Kella called out to C'ren, gesturing to Pyrite. Her suspicions had already been confirmed, but would prefer to be two hundred percent certain. "Oh, shardit," Kella grumbled, kicking at a pile of sand and looking up at Abi, disheartened. "How are we supposed to find the sharding clutch?!" She asked him, as though he would have some secret knowledge about clutch-hunting.

Aabsinral laughed at the fellow kitchen worker's antics. Yet, he liked this girl. She reminded him of being home, and she enjoyed kitchens, which technically made her even better than his real sister. What a lucky coincidence, that she'd been on the very stretch of beach he'd come to visit.
"As you wish, Kella. I shall be happy to take one of your little eggs." He answered, completely unruffled by her short fuse. And then, she too caught sight of the little gold by the waves. Kella, however, did not seem to make the connection between the fire lizard and her associated humans.
"I do not know, Kella. I have never been on a hunt for a clutch before. I imagine, though, that between all these people and dragons everywhere, the little gold one will be terrified. Indeed, if I were as tiny as that, I wouldn't want to stay here." He nodded slowly, and one hand made its way to his head, pushing his hair behind his ears. "Perhaps, we ought to go off in pairs? Though I do not know how we would reach eachother if we found them..."
His eyes wandered along the shoreline, wondering what would make a clutch stand out. Were the eggs simply on the sand? Were they buried? Was everyone simply counting on the wild gold to go utterly mad with protective rage whenever someone got too close?

Kella rolled her eyes at Abi. He was an odd fellow, but she liked him. Well- more or less tolerated him. But he should probably consider himeself lucky; Kella tolerated few, and liked even less. She turned her steely gaze on him, one eyebrow popping higher than the other. "Keep one of my little eggs? Abi, you're weird. Why are they my eggs? I'm looking for the clutch, sure, but I don't want the whole damn thing. Maybe two eggs. It all depends on them," Kella informed her companion while jerking a thumb over her shoulder at their fellow beach-goers.
"I've never found a clutch before, or hunted for one," Kella admitted easily. She scanned the beach as eagerly as ever, searching for anything that might give away the wild gold's clutch. But- she really didn't know what would make it stand out. She bobbed her head in agreement with Abi. "Yeah, I'd be pretty freaked out if something THAT much bigger than me came rootin' around by my clutch. But, I dunno, do you think she'd stick around? To try and protect her clutch? I know green firelizard's aren't good mothers, but gold's... I mean, a gold dragon is pretty protective. Why would a firelizard be the same?" Kella drew knowledge from what she knew. She couldn't help but think of Cheoth over her last clutch; the furious roars and bellows from the golden queen after Kyllae touched her eggs were heard around the entire Weyr. It wasn't something the dark-skinned girl was going to forget!

‘Rish blinked, looking away from watching the flit to the other beach goes. ‘More clutch hunters? This beach is very busy today.’ He hmed watching the waves come in and recede, listening to the girl and two young men. ‘Waves…tide, in and out, in, out!’
“You know, if the queen had any brains at all she would bury her clutch where the water wouldn’t reach.” He said kneeling down to draw various lines in the sand. “This means we can likely cut down the search area to something possibly manageable.” His fingers added loops meant to be waves on the bottom two lines and added a straight line to be where the land melted into the shore. “Such she likely buried it between this line” he pointed at the ‘high tide loops’ “and here where the land gives into sand.” He set his palm down on the untouched sand, making a zigzag motion. “Still lot of land but it would be the most likely area.”
"Unless you have something to add sir." He said cheerfully.

Ceylith! How are you and yours! I have not seen you in...a while. Astarteth finished. She actually could not remember when she saw her green friend last. The green waded until the waves lapped at her belly. We are well! Kallista wanted us to come and look for...an egg.
Since Astarteth had acknowledged Ceylith, Kallista did the only polite thing she could and waved to C'ren. They had just received wing assignments and part of her was happy to be assigned with someone she knew. "Hello there, wing mate! We are now officially part of a wing and will be seeing you at practices soon!"
And now, two more joined the fray. A guy who looked older than her and a very young girl. The girl charmed her slightly. Looking up when the blue rider responded to her, Kallista gave herself a shake. "Greetings, M'zaji. What a fine blue you have there. And yes, I am egg hunting. But I think I may have to move off, crowded sands do not make for good hunting. There won't be a flit for dragon lengths now."
A pleasure Kaedrelath. I hope you and your rider are doing well today. Astarteth turned back to the blue and replied kindly. The waters felt really nice and warm. Maybe she would get her nap after all!

It had taken him a moment, but M'zaji suddenly realized just where he knew Kallista from! Yes, she was a wingrider at Ista, and he had probably seen her around- but the bluerider was firm on the idea he knew her some other way. He'd seen her name somewhere.. Their wing assignment! With the intense overcrowding, many of the wings were being shuffled around. M'zaji found himself within a new wing, and these two greenriders were both part of it.
"Forgive me," he began, laughing in good nature. The waves crashed up on the shore loudly, causing him to have to raise his voice slightly. "I believe I'm also part of your wing- tsunami, no?" M'zaji grinned widely, then his face took on a solemn look. "Oh, I agree! All these people, gathered together- why, we're making enough commotion to scare off the most hardy and determined wherries!" M'zaji offered Kallista a small bow, arm outstretched to allow her to walk past. "Well, I wish you the best of luck! Perhaps, have your green contact my blue if you find anything? I'd be more than happy to do the same," he suggested, a smile once again tugging at his lips.
Kaedrelath extended his wings once more, slightly pleased that Astarteth had taken to the waters rather than join him in his wallow. While some company would have been enjoyable, he certainly relished his space. Oh, we are well enough. How does today find you, and yours? Kaedrelath responded politely, though his voice was soft, and slow like a lazy forest stream, the water bubbling happily but without any sort of rush. The blue's thoughts mirrored Astarteth's; a nap would be most pleasurable!

Kallista snapped her fingers and laughed. How fun this was to meet two of her wing mates. A shame, really, that she and T'ka did not get the same wing assignment but oh well. At least they were finally a part of a wing. "I am and yes, we are! Finally got our assignment and how nice to find two of my wing mates here."
She was out and she was socializing. Things really were going well. Moving past M'zaji, she grinned at his cheekiness. Nodding to Kella and the one called Abi, she spoke once more. "Maybe we should go off in pairs? Two sets of eyes are better than one. But no more than that I think. And yes, I don't mind having Astarteth bespeaking to Kaedrelath in case I find anything."
Astarteth was having fun blowing bubbles in the water and she wondered if the dolphins would come again. It was always fun to play games with them. We are happy. Kallista is looking for a present for her clutchmate and I am enjoying the waters. Very warm. Maybe the dolphins will come to play.

M'zaji was grateful to be introduced to not only one, but two!, of his wingmates today. He hadn't been familiar with any of the names on the list. So, at least he had some faces to put with the names now! The bluerider ran a hand through his hair, fumbling through the short curls. "Ah, pairs! That sounds like a great idea!" M'zaji supported Kallista's suggestion emphatically- not knowing that Abi had already suggested the same thing. The bluerider looked around.. and found himself alone. He assumed that Kella and Abi were searching together, as were Kallista and C'ren; since the two greenriders seemed to know one another, it was natural to assume they'd venture off together. "Hmm," the bluerider pursed his lips and looked around at his choices. Maybe someone would select him as a partner?
Looking up from her fervent searching, Kella inclined her head to Kallista. "Umm.. Abi suggested that already. Yeah. That's why we're in a pair," Kella stated rather bluntly, waggling her thumb back and forth from herself to the youth beside her. "But, good idea!" She grinned at Kallista, though her tone dripped with sarcasm. Maybe it was the heat, but Kella was growing increasingly cranky. Nothing was screaming at her, indicating a clutch of firelizard eggs. Increasingly frustrated, Kella frowned and kept on searching.
Kaedrelath rustled his wings, adjusting them to better catch the sun's rays. One of the blue's favorite pastimes was sunbathing; he was quite the expert when it came to the best methods of sunning. He warbled amiably in Ceylith and Astarteth's direction, but still remained in his cool, sandy wallow. Do you think they'll actually find a clutch? M'zaji sometimes has difficulty finding his boots in the morning, the blue took a playful jab at his rider, rumbling in amusement.

Kallista frowned at the mouthy girl but refrained from trying to be rude. "Considering I just arrived and did not hear his suggestion, good ideas bear repeating."
The green rider was not known by many but she was known for a fairly even temper. And since Astarteth had had her first Flight, both rider and dragon had calmed down considerably. Still, she didn't appreciate disrespect. "Since you two are already a pair, M'zaji we could always search together. Or, there is Valad, I believe you said your name was? And the boy near C'ren. Plenty to pick from..."
It will be something if they do. If I was a flit with all these people around, I would hide for a long time. Astarteth replied, splashing water on her back with her tail. My rider barely remembers to care for herself, it would be something if she could keep an egg for her younger clutch mate until it nears Hatching.

After hearing Kella's rude comment, even though the dark-skinned girl had attempted to veil it, the bluerider frowned deeply. He was really in no position to reprimand her. The scowl across his face made her glare right back. He muttered angrily under his breath, and was sorely tempted to speak with her. That was no way to speak to a superior, in a voice laced with sarcasm and contempt. M'zaji shook his head and sighed. He turned to Kallista, opening his mouth to apologize for Kella. He quickly closed it, not intending to clean up after the candidate's mess. "I'd like that! We could be a pair, but maybe it would be better if we each worked with someone who didn't have a quick means of communication?" With a jerk of his thumb towards their dragons, he indicated their ability to send messages quickly. "That way, if one of us finds the clutch, we can broadcast it quickly. We don't know how close it'd be to hatching, and we may have to gather everyone around it quickly," he guessed as best he could, and explained himself to the greenrider with a smile. But, he wouldn't mind a chance to get to know her better!
Kella didn't bother to respond to Kallista, so absorbed in her search she was. Her eyes sought out some sign, any sign! Cracked shells might mean they were too late, but they also might mean that firelizards returned to the same spot to lay their clutches. Thoughts of fleeting firelizards ran rampant through the girl's head, and more than once she swore that she saw an egg, only to pick it up and find out it was only a rock. Kella cursed loudly, enough to make M'zaji blush. How long would they have to search for- and why was she the only one who seemed that engrossed in searching?
Kaedrelath rumbled in amusement. Both he and the green had taken jabs at their riders. I agree. I wouldn't stick around if there were this many people fumbling around, the blue snorted, blowing up a small whirlwind of sand. Another thought- what if they find the clutch, and it starts hatching here? Your rider won't be able to bring an egg for a gift. Kaedrelath liked to look at a situation and consider all possible options.

Abi trailed behind Kella, occasionally drifting to one side or the other, studying the sand around him. He never seriously searched anywhere that the wave seemed to touch, but he did occasionally find swirls of water around his ankles as the waves crept up the shore. He had been right: the water here wasn't cold. Refreshing, crisp, but not numbingly, bitterly cold, like the rivers he had been used to in his childhood.
He nudged a suspicious looking pile of seaweed- well past the tide line- with his toes, but it hid nothing other than sand. Lots and lots of sand. From a small distance away, another curse slipped between miss Kella's lips, and Aabsinral smiled again. He had been smiling with more intensity- though not more frequency- since arriving in the Weyr than he had in many years. Even though he had spent only one night at Ista, it already felt more like home than the kitchens of Keroon had.
At the rate things were going, though, it seemed there was more chattering and talking than egg-hunting. Listening to the snatches of conversation was pleasant, for Abi, but he had not real interest in rejoining them. From what he could tell- his idle pace had already taken him far enough down the shore that the nearby waves were making hearing a bit hard- people were pairing off.
He liked that miss Kella- at least in his head she would have the title for months to come- had chosen him for a partner, and worked his way back within a few dozen steps of her. It would be good if they did not get too separated. He didn't enjoy the thought of trying to find his way back unsupervised if he got lost.
He tipped a large looking sand dune aside, but only more sand sat beneath the wide peak.

"Ah, true. Well... I don't want to bother C'ren. He seems caught up with his dragon and flit. Maybe I can team up with...Valad, you said your name was?" The green rider posed the question to the other teen who was standing near them. She had been waiting for him to say something but apparently she was going to have to drag him into conversation Amazing, her dragging someone to talk. "I am going to head towards the dunes. You can follow me there if you choose."
Astarteth was enjoying the conversation greatly. It was not often as she liked that she had someone's complete attention. Besides her rider of course. And she most certainly deserved any attention that came her way! Hatching? I don't know. Kallista most likely knows. Little ones have to be fed. I hope she brought food.
This worried the young green and she looked for her rider. What will you do if your clutch mate's egg hatches?
Kallista wrinkled her nose. I guess I will feed it. Let's hope that doesn't happen though. She was making her way towards the dunes with random piles of seaweed and driftwood. If she were a gold flit, where would she put a nest?

'This is rather amusing, but I best get going and leave you to your silence.' He smiled at C'ren giving a little wave before scuffing out the diagram and picking up the pail. 'Hmmm. If I was a gold flit I would want to lay my clutch by a good food source and fresh water. So, let’s hit the water and find myself some more shellfish and keep my eyes peel for some sort of spring.’ He ran his free hand though his curls. ‘Probably get cleaned up as well. My pants are a mess.’
“Well…if anyone is interested. I’m going to find myself some shellfish and look around for some tide pools. I think the queen would want her nest by a good source of food easy to get to. Just hatch flits are hungry little things….Ooh! My name is ‘Rish, forgot to introduce myself.” He grinned, heading towards the water edge. “Guess I see you around.”

It was hot. The waves were loud. The sand was getting EVERYWHERE, as sand was wont to do. Kella grumpily plodded onwards, her eyes cast down at the ground. "Stupid flits, hiding your clutches where no one can find them," she grumbled unhappily. Kella was beginning to think that maybe there wasn't a firelizard clutch anywhere. Rumors were rumors, after all. Maybe someone at the Weyr was bored and wanted to stir up something interesting, so they spread this tale around. Kella wouldn't put it past The Nose. Nandeli was certainly a professional at that sort of thing; spreading rumors and gossip. Another likely explanation was that some drunken dimglow was out on the beach one night, and swears they saw a gold and her eggs- but in all reality, it was probably just the sun and some rocks. "Awesome," Kella muttered unhappily and sat her little bum down in the sand.
She picked up a rock and tossed it around, from hand to hand. She bounced it in her palm for a few minutes, then looked up to see that Abi had wandered a few paces away. So, she pelted the rock at him. "OI!" She called, trying to grab his attention without getting off her a**. "You find anything yet?" She shouted, holding out her hands palm out to display her lack of discovery. A frown flickered across her face, and she let her shoulders slump forward.
The bluerider, on the other hand, hadn't even really begun to search! His entire time on the beach had been spent meeting Abi, Kallista, and the various other people who had shown up. M'zaji was a sucker for casual conversation, and had been lured away from his original mission. But now he was back on track, and ready to begin the hunt!
The boy wandering down towards the shoreline looked promising; rather, M'zaji's stomach growled hungrily at the mention of shellfish. The bluerider was not so sure about the firelizard clutch being to close to the water, but a little searching certainly wouldn't hurt! "Hey there! 'Rish? Nice to meet ya!" M'zaji offered a grin and a wave. "I'm M'zaji, that's my blue Kaedrelath over there, lazy git," the bluerider gestured towards his half-asleep blue, sprawled on his side in a cool, dug-out wallow of cold, wet sand. "So! You mentioned shellfish? Sure sounds tasty- and I think there may be a few hungry hatchlings around!" The bluerider's spirits were high, and his happy nature was nearly-contagious; a huge grin spread across his face and he looked up an down the beach. "So! Where to search first?"
Kaedrelath lazily lifted his head to peer out at the water in Astarteth's direction. If she didn't bring food, I'm sure she can find some on the beach, the blue informed the green with a reassuring warble that probably did not carry out over the rolling waves.

'Rish looked back giving a lazy smile. "We are actually looking for shellfish flats. So we are looking for many small holes in the sand where when the wave washes over them they bubble. Shellfish are under the sand there which are very good eating." He hissed as the waves swapped his sandals and pants before retreating. “Probably should take of my sandals,” he mussed before kicking them off, tying the leather thongs together and swinging them over a shoulder.
“Think is, the clutch won’t be this close to the shore but if we can find the best flats or some tide pools we might get an idea where the queen would hide her eggs up father, above the tide line. She’s going to want a close source of food for her babies. If we can find a source of fresh water near by well, seems like a prime area to search to me.”
