"Attributes..."
That was a little more difficult, since some did not show their true colors until they were tested, and some could turn out not to be suited after acceptance. That had not happened yet, but some of the cubs seemed so quiet and timid at first, it was a relief to see them grow into their heritage.
"Of course, strength, pride, ferocity, size, and skill are all important attributes to have. You can have the colors and talk the talk, but you have to know how to walk the walk, too." Uuo glanced over at him, tail flicking. "Attitude plays a big part. It's kind of a broad aspect but basically what you need to know is that we won't take anyone that can't fit to the image of the Firekin, the ideals. If you need a basis, use someone like me, or Azarax, Ursa, Kenna, or the Regents for examples." She rumbled, looking out again and squinting at the blinding light on that particular spot on the horizon. "You might do well to ask them what specific traits are or aren't acceptable."

"It sounds simple enough then, I'll be cautious, thank you for the information." He nodded and followed her his paws moving along the warming ground with much more ease. He had been running at night learning how to push the tips of his paws into the sand to keep his speed up. Lessons learned from living in this harsh terrain, and he knew he had much more to learn.
How many more were trying to join, how many willing to learn to live in such a challenging environment? Still he couldn't be the only one who relished a challenge. "There are no dens for guards to stay closer to the outer-lands?"
