We're going to start from the moment he threw the Star Burst and took the slash.

((So in other words, my third post? Alright.

Elliot, if you could (I'm posting this here so that the judges note of it, as well), make a post with regards to my third post given the Judge ruling. I'm going to go strikeout my 4th post since it no longer applies, to avoid confusion.

I'll make a new fourth post from your reaction.))

We Came To Fight

(Thought a meter was three feet... *retakes highschool physics*)

We Came To Fight
Nah, the audience was straight. Elliot had used his star-bursts countless times to the same effect. When people see, or think of bombs they think uberbangexplosion. His were relatively smaller. Hell, the cop in his earlier match took a direct hit and the b*****d still kept fighting. El was only sad the audience didn't get to see Tenkai asplode. S'all good though.

Elliot hadn't taken his eyes off of Tenkai to so much as blink, so of course he saw his uncanny approach.

The thing about the kusarigama is that depending on how you hold it, even if you drop the kama, you don't really drop it. The scythe dangled in mid-air, connected to the chain Elliot held in his right hand. This was partially the reason he decided not to begin his throw until after the pull. His move depended on Tenkai still being two meters away, which he clearly wasn't. Elliot could drop his bomb and grab the hanging kama just as easily as Tenkai could draw his sword. And he would.

Tenkai Matsumoto

SHHHHIIINNGGGG!!!

"Fuujinzan!"
(Wind God Slash)

Tenkai would cut Elliot from the right side of his chest down towards his left arm, right as it whipped around to throw his weapon. Strengthened by his ki, the strike was strong enough to displace the air around it. Normally Tenkai used this as a projectile "air blade" attack, but left it much weaker this time so that there was no chance it would harm the audience. Fortunately, this meant that using the attack at point-blank range was still effective, and yet weak enough that the "air blade" would disperse before it could do any fatal damage to Elliot.

"Did anyone tell this dude announcing your attacks was played out?"

The tug of war trick was a little different. You don't see it at all, you're just pulling and one minute and another your on the ground. With Elliot, even in the fire light it would be hard to miss a fully grown samurai hurtling forward and interpret what that could mean for him, and respond correctly, mentally bracing himself at the very least. Besides, if Tenkai was using it to propel himself forward, this meant Elliot was catching more than dead slack, but rather had some weight to help balance himself.

In anycase Elliot's yank came after his step back, meaning the only thing set off balance was his right arm. As it came back, Elliot would feel the bump of the kama's wooden handle against his tensed left knuckle and reach out for it, switching weapons once more. As Tenkai drew back for his swing, our boy El would readjust himself.

"FKSCHWING!!"

Tenkai's sword would fit into the right angle of the kama like a baseball in a mitt, catching it almost midway down the blade as he extended his arm. The metal rings that were tightly wrapped around the top of the weapon's handle would protect the wood from being diced by the razor sharp edge of his katana, as well as rob it of its forward momentum, presumably preventing the wind blade. In the split second that their weapons would lock Elliot would play on his manipulation of light, inducing a flash similar to the one that was meant to come along with his explosive, the light spawning from Elliot's eyes.

And then, he'd step forward.

((It's 3 AND a half (3.6666). That half really makes a difference in situations like this.))

(I know, the difference between a successful block or losing a hand)

((3.2 actually, if Google is right. But a katana's blade length is a few inches over 2 feet long, excluding the hilt, which can equal around 3 feet in total, excluding the arm length.

Though I should have probably made the blade specifics a bit more in-depth. >< It's definately not a short katana, but I'm not swinging around some sort of nodachi.

I'm still a bit confused about your post, though. ._. If your kama's chain is in your right hand, wouldn't it be hanging by your right hand? How would it be against your "tensed left knuckle"?

It seems a bit too speedy that you're able to reach over to it by the time my sword comes in, but that's not really the problem. I'm using a 2-handed swing and you've only just grabbed your kama with one hand. How does that perfectly halt the swing entirely? And this is without factoring in the energies being used in the swing.

But I don't want to keep this any longer. I'm going to roll with this again.))

"FKSCHWING!!"

A quick defense...

It was very fortunate for the both of them. Tenkai may not have been able to release his Fuujinzan, but he had also prevented Elliot from using whatever that glass ball was. Perhaps this was the right...

Chikushou! (Damnit!)

That flash!

That wasn't normal for a weapon clash. Did that glass ball do that? No...it happened at the clash of their blades, not where he dropped the bomb. It had to be some sort of trick. Tenkai could feel the energy coming off of Elliot as the flash came. Something was coming, and Tenkai had to act fast or else.

Elliot stepped forward...

...and Tenkai pushed his arms off to his left, against the kama, while pushing himself away from Elliot.

The force of his two-handed grip against Elliot's one-handed kama defense would push Elliot's left arm roughly towards Elliot's inside, to his right. This put Tenkai further to Elliot's outside, while the force of the parry would push into his body. With Elliot taking that step forward, the parry would put him very much off balance, enough to cause him to hit the ground hard on his right side.

Tenkai backpedaled a few steps before halting his momentum abruptly on his right foot, stumbling a moment before landing on his left knee. Tenkai's parry would be enough to disorient his opponent until Tenkai's sight could clear up.

What a shame. This is the first I've been drawn on a human in a long time, and not even a taste of blood yet...

This is not the time...

Tenkai mentally chastised Muramasa, keeping it in it's place. Although Tenkai hated having to draw blood needlessly like he had when fighting Snow, it was going necessary for the tournament.

(The chain was dangling from his right hand. As he pulled back, the kama, hanging from said chain, swung to his left from the pulling motion, bumping against the knuckle on his left hand. His left then let go of the sphere and grabbed the kama that was floating directly infront of his hand.

I'm sure, even before his enhanced speed, that he could do this in the time it takes for you to approach me, draw your weapon and slash. I'll admit I probably should have put more about the trembles it put through his arm, infact I meant to, but I forgot. In hindsight my description makes it sound like it stops on a dime. It doesn't. But it does stop him from getting cut.
And I don't think it matters whether he just got it or not. Once it's solidly in his grip, it's good as it's gonna get, whether it's been in their for a second or an hour. He's been holding it for about as long as Tenkai's been holding the handle of his sword for that matter. And even though you're using two hands that doesn't exactly mean you're going to over take me. If you start this demo at :40 seconds you'll see that the kusarigama wielder block his two armed opponent pretty cleanly. I'm not saying to take the video verbatim, the strength behind his swing is probably debatable, but it does look pretty hard. For what it's worth I've trained in karate (same style as in the video actually) for a number of years, and have used a kama personally. Blocking the sword swing like that is an actual move( more or less.) I think we should also factor Elliot's enhanced strength as well. Like I said it wouldn't stop it perfectly, but it would stop it no less. Close only counts in hand grenades as they say...)

So Tenkai was pushing against our boy Ell. To have any kind of force with something like that, one had to have their feet firmly on the ground. In other words not going anywhere, or at least not quickly.

Elliot's left hand wasn't the only one that had switched weapons.

As he stepped, his right would move to the ninjato sheathed at his left hip. Then...
"SCHWOP"

He would draw the blade, swiping at Tenkai's knees, still planted if not just moving, splitting at least one of them and ending his mobility for the match. Or so Pope hoped. With Tenkai's hands locked in his push, a block or counter didn't seem likely.

Tenkai had tried to push Elliot over, but unless he was the hulk, or at least really friggin' strong this wouldn't work. Elliot's step and attack would be as on motion. If Tenkai was sticking around to push, he was gonna get it. Of course even if he didn't stick around he was probably still gonna get it, unless he could manage to get both his knees away. Not only that but El was stepping towards Tenkai, meaning his push would have to contend with Elliot's arm strength plus his body weight in order to tip him. If that where to be done it would take some time as the battled it out, during which time Elliot would have...well, you know.

(I'm really scatter-brain right now, like I said in the absence thread. I think I burnt myself out explaining the OOC from my last post. If any Qs you know what to do. Sorry and thanks for your patience btw)

(( x_x This is the third time I have to redo this post. Damn Gaia keeps eating it.

I can understand what you're saying, as I've taken karate myself. But kama positioning has a lot to do with that, too. And blocking a bokken with a kama 1-handed in a demonstration is a bit of a different case than blocking an enhanced sword swing 1-handed with a kama you've only just recently regained your grip on and stopping it completely. >.< There needs to be a tit-for-tat.

I'm also confused on why pulling a kama back to the right causes it to swing to your left. ._. But I shouldn't be arguing this. I'll have to roll with this, though there's not really much I can do since your attack happened in the middle of your last post's time frame. x_x))

((Judge Note: I must be frazzle-brained myself, as I just noticed I wasn't clear enough here...

Quote:

I should have made it more specific that I'm pushing away from him in the opposite direction of my push, towards my right. If I was just backing up, my parry wouldn't be as effective and I'd be in the line of attack. It doesn't matter TOO much considering one thing, but....err....I'll just post.))

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tenkai wasn't exactly sure if he managed to put Elliot off balance for the moment, but he wasn't going to stay in range to find out if he had. He pushed off with his parry to get out of Elliot's line, hoping to--

!

That was when Elliot's ninjato came in.

All Tenkai could make out of Elliot's draw was the sharp sensation of danger in the back of his head as he reached for his hilt. Tenkai was lucky to have pushed off with his parry, as the straightness of the ninja-to gave it's initial arc a straight path. But if it was short enough to be properly used for iai, Tenkai wouldn't make it clear of the arc in time...

CSHING!

Fortunately for Tenkai, there was no sound of rending flesh or splitting kneecaps. The blade grazed and scraped against Tenkai's right knee armor, saving him from immobility. The blade would pass by and miss the left as he moved back, and although Elliot retained his balance, Tenkai's parry combined with his creation of distance would buy him at least a bit of time.

But now what could Tenkai do? There he was, down on his right knee, eyes recovering from the flash. By now, Elliot would be just about resuming his position to attack, as Tenkai was out of the line of attack about six feet away. The monk needed to think of something fast.

Of course, Muramasa's bickering gave him an idea.

With a swift motion of his left hand, Tenkai ran his left palm down the blunt side of the blade towards the tip. As his hand passed by, the blade lit up in a wreath of blue fire. At first it'd look like this was some sort of elemental attack, but "fire" could only describe appearances. He was focusing his spiritual pressure into the blade, and it was the first clear display of special ability Tenkai had shown in this tournament. Tenkai's Fuujinzan had been interrupted, and even if it wasn't it wouldn't be as bright as the spirit fire dancing off of Muramasa.

The crowd bustled slightly at this turn of events. Just what was Tenkai planning anyway?
