xD For math, I just didn't qualify. I got a B+ in my course last year, 1st semester, & needed at least an A- both semesters. I could have contested it and probably gotten in, is what I mean, but I already have a rather full schedule otherwise. xD
But I think the idea is that kids who sign the contract KNOW they won't be able to drop out,so they either don't take the class, or they take it and do what they must to survive it. *shrugs* Like I said, we have a really tight-knit community, so if one person is struggling, their friends usually help them by studying with them or editing their paper, taking a few extra minutes to explain a concept, etc. The cool thing about being in advanced classes at our school is that we get the really passionate teachers, which in turn makes the classes easier and more exciting. Because, well, when a teacher loves their subject, they make it easier to love. <3 Like I always considered myself to not be a science person, since it's been my worst class for the last two years, but I absolutely love it this year. :3
Also, they had students from the AP classes come in and explain the difficulty of their class last year, so we'd know what to expect. xD Better yet, our teachers have a sense of humor. The first thing out of our history teacher's mouth: "I'm always here to talk to if you're have difficulty with the work, or other stuff. Like if you're depressed. You're probably going to get depressed this year. And you're probably not going to get an A--even those kids that have never gotten anything lower--and if your parents expect you to get an A, you can send them in and we'll have a talk so I can set them straight." *cue nervous laughter* xDD
ETA: Also, thank you SOSO much for the leaf! >w< I've always wanted one--such a fantastic green head item. <3
