Oh, but the return of his stolen offspring is both a blessing and a curse. Sakata had all but given her up for lost, so having her returned to him so easily, and without harm... truly the great spirits are smiling upon the Mizimu'Tungika on this day. And yet, were it not for her presence he would end the war here and now. Before it could even begin. And, rationally, his tactician's mind tells him that this is the best course of action. Move swiftly, while the Dhati 'king' is pinned with indecision and his queen is within reach. Destroy the leaders of the opposition in one fell swoop, and the rest of the rabble will inevitably scatter.

But the emotions of a father override the strategy of the Warleader. To join battle right now would put her at risk, and that's not a gamble he's willing to make. Not now. Not when she's just been returned to him.

So his gaze flicks from the injured queen to the angry king, and then to the helpless betrayer. As Sakata deliberates on the situation a low growl rises in his chest, a growl that is bitten off by the words he utters through clenched teeth.

"She belonged to the Mizi once," he begins, his hard gaze upon Malaika, "and we want her back. Give me the betrayer, Magadi, and you may have your queen. The Mizimu'Tungika will return to our lands, and your Dhati..." that word is spoken with a sneer, "Your Dhati may return to skulking about in our shadows. When the new moon rises, we will see an end to this farce."

In the end, Magadi's decision was made for him. He had been helpless and confused as his eyes passed from the treacherous Malaika to his beloved Ufahami, stuck between murdering the traitor and leaving his beloved at the paws of his enemies or attempting to rescue her and allowing the wicked female to go free. It was Sakata's words that drew him back to reality, to the larger picture this moment represented, and some of his rage seemed to ebb.

He bit off whatever retort bubbled up to his tongue over the Mizimu and chose to instead let the insults roll off. In this situation, Sakata had the upper hand. He had the queen, their inspiration and shining beacon of hope, and his beloved mate. Trading the traitor for his love was not a hard choice, and he drew himself up enough to look across at the male that had once been something of a companion.

"Fine," his voice sounded a lot more confident than he felt, but he was good at using a mask by now, "but she will pay her dues first." The paw on her throat grew a little heavier, pushed down a little more pressure - and then there was a masked face staring her directly in the eyes. "We're going to have to do something about that traitorous tongue of hers," but this was low and ominous, not meant for Sakata's ears but merely Malaika's. She'd done the unthinkable in trying to separate him from the one thing he treasured most in the world and now, well, he'd separate her from something no doubt dear to her.
