"Yup," he said quickly, confirming what his little friend had just stated. "There is lots of different music because there are lots of different people making it! Culture, language, place of residence and lots of other things can influence it! I think that is one of the most interesting things about music!" He laughed, "I myself have seen just how different parts of the world create their own folk songs. Something about the strange difference from place to place is enticing."
Rock looked down at Cabri, "Why don't you sing a song you like?"

"It is!" Cabriole giggled; its interesting how music can differ across various cultures, and how every piece of music can be traced back to its place of origin by the way it sounds and its lyrics. Blushing slightly at the request, he shuffled his hoofs about, looking down at the green grass - there were many songs taught to him, some in a different language. However, one of the ones that really made an impression on him was the first ever tune he had heard come from a thing called the 'music box'.
"Um, well... I heard the tune for this song called 'Greensleeves' coming from a little box that produce music when you turn this knob on it and open the lid," Cabriole replied, clearly rather nervous; he hadn't been asked to sing by anyone outside of his family before and it was rather unnerving, "So I asked if it had lyrics and it does... It goes like this..." He cleared his throat in an attempt to hide his nervousness before opening his mouth, the first few notes started off wobbly and muffled, but the lyrics became clearer as he sung on.
"Alas my love you do me wrong To cast me off discourteously; And I have loved you oh so long Delighting in your company.
Greensleeves was my delight, Greensleeves my heart of gold Greensleeves was my heart of joy And who but my lady Greensleeves.
I have been ready at your hand To grant whatever thou would'st crave; I have waged both life and land Your love and goodwill for to have.
Greensleeves was my delight, Greensleeves my heart of gold Greensleeves was my heart of joy And who but my lady Greensleeves.
Thy petticoat of sendle white With gold embroidered gorgeously; Thy petticoat of silk and white And these I bought gladly.
Greensleeves was my delight, Greensleeves my heart of gold Greensleeves was my heart of joy And who but my lady Greensleeves..."
Parts of it was clearly out of tune, but he had a good singing voice, inherited from his musically-inclined parents. He paused after finishing, his eyes darting about before he gained the courage to speak again, "S-So... Um, how was it?" He asked, his tone full of uncertainty.

The song was slow and quite quiet. Not a song Rockstar recognized and so he had opened his ears eagerly to listen to the melody, but just as it started, the blissful expression on his face slightly shattered as a few off notes were sung. As the song and the little singer continued some parts really were off key, while others too quiet or too hastened. Rock tried to listen as best he could, but he couldn't help wincing at the few really shattered notes. He kept his peace until the little foal looked up to him for a critique. He wiped his face of the cringe and smiled down at him encouragingly. "I really liked the song, I have never heard it before. Some parts were a little bit off, but nothing that can't be fixed! The most important thing is to want to improve." He chuckled. "What I noticed is you were nervous, which was natural, and rushed through some parts. Try keeping it smooth and fluid throughout." He winked his blue and kneeled down to Cambri's level. "It is hard, that's a given. But once you master not speeding through the song and parts you're not perfect with, it will be like second nature!" Rockstar knew the colt wanted to learn, and it was evident he did have talent for song! But it needed to be polished, and rock was more than willing to help out!

"I do! I do want to improve!" The colt nodded eagerly, missing the stallion's cringe. All he saw was the smile, and it helped boost his confidence levels; perhaps he wasn't as bad as he had though! He nodded as the older male continued, keeping in mind the areas of improvement and his suggestions. Some he had heard before, such as rushing through certain parts of the song, but smooth and fluid? That was new! He nodded again, taking a mental note.
"I hope so... Second nature..." He paused as he smiled, wondering if he'll ever be like that when he's an adult... Then again, he is his father's son, "I'll get there one day!"

"Well thats great! There will; always be room for improvement! And you can't go anywhere without practice, trial and error and lessons! Even with skill." He smiled. "Here, do you want me to teach you some exercises for singing clearly and fluidly?" Rockstar knew many himself, most being lung exercises. Using the lungs and diaphragm was key to singing, but building those muscles and organs guaranteed steadiness neared in clarity.

Cabriole smiled happily, nodding in agreement at Rockstar's words. His eyes widened at the question, "Will you really? Yes please!" He looked up at the stallion with a huge grin, unable to contain his excitement; his first real lesson outside of his family and herd! He can't wait to tell his parents, siblings and Cuauhcoatl!
"What kind of exercise will we be doing?"

Rockstar favored the colt with a broad grin of his own. The foal's excitement lit up his eyes and made him jump from hoof to hoof. God he missed having students.
"The first exercise I will teach you is an ancient secret. SO dire, powerful and complicated I doubt you will ever truly grasp it! Cities and great empires have fallen and been build using these ideas!" He boomed with a deep, story-teller's voice. Biting his lip in a smile at the end. "Now lend me your ear so i can contain the secrets within you!" He leaned down and whispered into the colt's ear. "We are going to take deep breaths."
his head immediately reared up then and exploded with the badly contained laughter. A tear even wetting Rock's dark lashes as he laughed at his own silliness. "Haha, so we are going to take three very deep breaths first, and then i will sing out a single note. And then you will also sing it and hold it for as long as you can without letting it waver. Got it?"

The colt blinked, eyes widening in awe as Rockstar spoke. After talking to the stallion just now, he was more than eager to hear more about this "ancient secret". He kept nodding, waiting with bated breath as wiggled his body with excitement. When Rockstar asked for him to lend him his ear, Cabriole nodded, leaning in towards him with anticipation... Wait a moment! That's no secret!
For a moment, he stared at Rockstar as he laughed, not knowing how to respond. The joke only hit him a minute later, and he couldn't help but giggle at his new friend's silliness, "Aw! You tricked me!"
He then smiled at the request and nodded; he knows how to do that! It is something basic, after all.

Rock laughed and nodded. He was still just a foal inside, and he laughed a good practical joke and leg pull as the next colt. "Ready now, maestro?" He asked with a wink. As he himself readied his lungs for the breaths. He always felt that having the teacher do the same thing as the student was the best way to get the lesson through.
He took in the first, very deep breath through his nose, held it, and gently let it out through his 'O' shaped mouth. He hoped the colt noticed that the breath taking was like flow. No sharp movements, just grace. He took in the other two breaths the same way and then watched his pupil.
And when he saw that Cabri had done the exercise perfectly, he smiled and let out a simple note into his voice. He held it for a total of 23 seconds and then had to regain his breath. "Your turn." He nodded.

He smiled as the stallion demonstrated what needs to be done, observing how he did it before imitating his teacher's actions. When Rockstar smiled after Cabriole's turn, he smiled back, pride swelling in his chest; that smile was an encouragement, he was sure! Knowing that he did it well certainly helps boost his self-confidence!
"Alright!" Cabriole answered surely with a smile, taking in a deep breath through his nose like he was showed earlier. Then, he lets out a simple note as well, wavering and unsteady at first but quickly becoming stable. However, near the end of his breath, the colt's note started to waver again before he found himself chocking on his own note. A loud gasp for air ended the exercise; he had held the note for about 18 seconds.

"Fantastic!" Rock burst just as Cabri finished. He had unconsciously been holding his own breath in anticipation as the colt held the note for a surprising 18 seconds. Excitement swelled in his chest as he was getting more and more eager to teach his new student all he knew. His mind was already reeling with some of the funnest, and hardest, exercises and song-games he knew. But he had to remind himself that they were only starting at the basics. He took in a breath to calm his jittering heart and gave the happy colt one of his brightest smiles yet.
"When he sing out the note, just before you do try imagining it in your head. That why when you actually sing it won't waver the way it did slightly with you because you already have an idea of how it will sound. Does that make sense?" He laughed and looked at the bright colt expectantly.

He couldn't help but grin at the praise; being praised by one's family is different from being praised by someone outside... The feeling is different although the pride he felt is similar.
"In... In my head?" The colt echoed, looked alarmed as he appeared rather hesitate to try out the idea. His resistance came from the fact that normally, songs and notes arranged in his head don't come out the way he had intended them to be. He paused, looking down at his hoofs before looking up again. Slowly, he nodded; if his teacher wants him to do something, it must be for his own benefit, right?
As he took in a deep breath, looking unsure of himself, Cabriole decided that he would just be using a simple 'la' note... Can't go wrong with that, right?
"Laaa...." He released; while it didn't waver as much as before, the note only lasted for 15 seconds, shorter than his previous attempt. He looked up at Rockstar worriedly, "Was that better?"

Rock grinned brightly and nodded enthusiastically. "Much better!"
He had noticed the colt's hesitation before singing the note and he felt he needed to address it. It was obviously about his previous instruction and he wanted to make the boy confident with his singing and technique for the future.
"It does not matter too much that you held it a bit shorter. Once you keep practicing, your lungs will grow stronger and you will not only be able to keep the notes unwavering, but hold it longer too!" He smiled brilliantly and nodded at his own advice. "And when you imagine the notes or songs in your head, you may not always sing them exactly that way. But don't be discouraged and keep trying to challenge yourself. You will be really surprised with how far you can go in just a few weeks time if you are dedicated!" He knew his lesson was coming to an end and even though he was bursting to continue and give Cabri more things to do and more songs to sing, he knew time and practice were key - the colt needed time to get used to this practice.

Cabriole beamed, his cheeks turning a slight shade of pink; he was enjoying all the encouragements and compliments... Of course, he remembered his godfather's words about being humble and tried not too get too proud of his improvements, small and subtle as they were - after all, like Rock said, he still has a lot to improve on.
"I guess I need to trust in myself more... The thing is, when I'm not trying so hard to do things right, I tend to be better..." The colt nodded, heaving a soft sigh before brightening up quickly at the stallion's words. He nodded his head before speaking in a serious yet joyous tone, "I am dedicated! I love singing, after all! I think its a joy to be able to perform for others! One day, I will be as good as my parents... And you!"
{End in next 2 or so posts? x3 I would love more RP of them if you're up for it!}

Rockstar beamed with genuine pleasure at the colt's last statement and couldn't help but spend a moment basking in the feeling of happiness.
"You need to have your goals for the future set high, so that even if you fall short, you will still be great. But the goals for present need to be small steps, gradually getting bigger and bigger until they become leaps. But you need to know yourself and the best way for you to learn and practice first! Learning someone else's way, even if it worked wonders, is not the best way." He chuckled and nudged Cabri gently with a smile.
