I'm in the foundation process of creating the most brutal tournament to ever cross Gaia.

PostPosted: Mon May 03, 2010 4:01 pm

I've come to the conclusion that there will be no prize given out at the end of the tournament. If anything it will be something simple, because as fighters we don't wish for money and stupid avatar items. We simply wish to know that we are the best.

This tournament will be great if it gets off the ground that is for sure. Honest and unbiased judging from a logical stand point. You will not be judged on post creation, writing skills, the winner wins when one man is dead or gives up that is it. Fights will go on as long as they need to go on. You do not rush fighters, you let them settle it on the field with no clock.

I need ideas people. Give me some. I don't always have the time to create so if I could gain some of you to help me create my vision that would be perfect.

Through false sensory perceptions of the flesh...

Raging Rainbow Ravens fall from the sky and peck out the competitor's eyes with beaks made of crystalline sugar, with swirled, colorful markings like lollipops.

In all seriousness... I'm still tryin' to make some stuff. Life hates me, and decides to ******** with my money opportunities, so I may not be spittin' stuff out like a machine. May take some time.

It's quite alright... It just seems every time I come back I understand why I quit. Maybe I am just out of my league now. Just a cranky old crooner being laughed at by all the kids. It is truly heart breaking in a way... But I will not be swayed, I want this tournament so bad, if it takes ten years for it to happen it will happen, I want my final hoorah.

While I'm not complaining, I really would like to know why I've been made crew? I haven't even made an rp post yet. I'm confused.

I've always just suggested that the old MXer ways of roleplaying and fighting died out. Not that they were ever really accepted on Gaia in the first place.

Speakin' of old crooners... Does Kakk still get on?

And I wouldn't say your outta your league Ertai. <_< I'd say... people just do things differently now? I guess? Something along those lines. Totally forgot what I was gonna say.

To Revan: I've seen your profile and the extensive work behind it. I don't need to see you post to tell that you're a good rper, and I think this will give you some more incentive to come around here more often and perhaps spark something of your own, invite people you know and bring your culture, your wants and likes to the table.

Well here is my problem with the way they're doing things now. It seems to me original character creation has died out, it is nothing but text book DnD crap. "Oh my characters sword can break spells and I use magic and bullshit" The main thing they don't understand is magic is like the sword and psionics are like the guns. "oh I have psionic buffers and barriers that protect me from it." Well how? How does it protect you? It does what? Just is? Thats when I being the smart psionic user will be like "Ok your barrier protects you eh? What is protecting your barrier? Ok so I'll deconstruct your barrier down at an atomic level and -poof- no more barrier" That is where people get all butt-hurt is when I undo anything they do. After all magic is energy and with psychic manipulation I can manipulate energy, and when I manipulate energy and you cannot stop it now what? I'm supposed to let your magic buffer and barriers work just because? ******** that.

But I digress, I am still way more skilled and complex then any of these street fighter rip off characters they spew out. I didn't really come up with a story for Ertai, I made his story through the years. Yes he has his background, blah blah a kid and blah blah turned into a machine, but that happened in role play years ago. <******** the ******** the ******** Leviathan Stadium and anyone associated with them.
PostPosted: Tue May 04, 2010 4:10 pm

Magic gets beat by psionics, psionics get beat by better psionics. Thats just the way things go and people don't understand this. Granted my character can mass manipulate energy at a huge scale, hence why I can make voids, shift reality and destroy planes of existence as Ertai. It's not broken, it's not illegal, it's just another type of advanced combat that I don't even do anymore. I haven't done a mass scale psionic attack on anyone in over four years. Yet I am still tossed around as what not to be. Everyone forgets my melee and martial arts skills, my weapons skills, hell even gun skills. I know everything about combat and I've learned it extensively in my character ******** read a DnD spell book and think they can start firing off fireballs and lightning bolts, or throw some chi or chakras, but call me stupid and lame because I use something on a different scale.

MX way of fighting is dead I agree, that was the most brutal era of online combat from Yahoo to MX, we played for keeps. Your character lost or was killed, guess what hes dead just like in real DnD, your character is dead unless you have other ways of getting around it, not this bullshit "ASK PERMISSION BEFORE YOU KILL THEIR CHARACTER" ******** that s**t, I remember being ambushed in threads and chats just to try and kill me and I either fought or died. Simple as that.

Hmm... There's very little(and when I saw little, I mean like microcosm) see in what your saying that I don't agree with. Generally speaking, you're right. In fact, I know you know you're right. Honestly, I see the problem you're facing something along the lines of what I face(d), only more towards one angle instead of both.

My character which my username takes namesake from has been bumped from a good number of RP guilds because he was "too powerful," had "too many abilities," "knew too much," or was simply "too good." I'm sure the latter reason is making you think "THE BLOOD ******** MAN? TOO GOOD?" I play my character on higher realm of play than to make myself look cool. I play them on how they are, how they react, and how experience they are.

On the one side, Revan is an old a** vampire who's job was to fight things that normal people couldn't. Even if he didn't have the raw power to fight an opponent, he had the tact and skill to out due them. This is where I come from: The side of a skilled weakling. Against a character like Ertai, I highly doubt Revan would stand a speck of a chance because the range of skills he posses are of those far beyond a region that Maxwell can even currently grasp totally. But were they to fight, and Ertai wasn't to start off the fight with some plan destroying attack(This is where the microcosm in, but I'll explain that later), he might find that Revan's neither stupid, nor resourceful for what he is and where he's from. At the same time, I honestly don't think you'd do that to me unless i just completely pissed you off.

That small issue I was talking about has to deal with the placement of a character like Erati in some roleplays. He is something short of what i would consider a God class character, not to be confused with a God-Modding character. You see, you're powers remind me of those of another character who goes by the name of Velseize(Usrname and character). His character seems to have a rather large intent on doing things that in a way, force other's characters to fight on a level in which they haven't specified their character's are capable(even me sadly). Within the first four posts in a tournament we're currently doing on said guild, he turned the entire arena area to lava. I mean, he simply just did it. On the one side, the person he was fighting could fly, so she was safe. On the other, had that been a character that could not fly, that would have been it. And while I'm not above doing something that ends a fight in three moves, the end result is almost anti-climatic and boring.

I have my own character on the Guild who can do virtually the same thing as Vel, but where as he literally plays fights within .001 seconds, I don't. Furthermore, it's not just the degree at which he does these "continent destroying" moves I like to call them, but the degree at which he does them, every post within the in character time span of a thought. The biggest wedges that separates some like him and someone like you, are literacy, fairness(in a sort of physics like manner), and execution(while usually tied into literacy, I think you understand what I mean when I divide the two).

So I'll get into side of me that empathizes with you: The Exaggerated Giant.

"All's fair in love and war when you've stated you can do something, and have a legitimate reason for being able to do it." You have no idea how many RP's I've been denied from because Revan can use exploding feather darts. That's technically the only fully offensive ability he has, and I usually limit myself to the feathers for sake not being tossed out of the RPs, but when people see that a single feather has the potential of creating a blast large enough to destroy a large trailer, they flip out, even when there characters can shoot of Hadoken's of light, that do the same amount of damage, at will. While a character with considerable power or powers is not an issue with me(though I admit i tend to stay away from harboring characters of that much power for the sake of my overly creative mind), there are still things in place limiting them from up and annihilating everything.

I often compare the way certain skills are played to what would be considered right in physics and acceptable in an RP, like the concentrated blast of light. To me, if a person is going to fire a large beam of light that has concussive force, the light has to be refracted within itself enough time to do so, in which case, the beam is not going to fire at the speed of light(which Vel claims his does while continuously complaining that my RPing student and I are going against laws of physics).

I'm unaware of this MX style of RPing you guys keep referring to, though this is the third time I've come across people talking about it, I believe, I finish off by saying I can't imagine people getting upset with you for the stuff you say they are complaining about.

Hell, if any of the thirteen people on the other guild(I know I reference it alot, but it just so happens to be a place I can reference) who claim they can attack Maxwell's soul and/or separate it from his body, I fear for them and having to fight Adon.

As for your earlier comment Vexic, I'm still trying to come up with a way to introduce myself in the "The City of Sin" RP. However, as of late, I haven't been my usual creative self and find my posts lacking.

As for inviting people, neither my other friends nor my student are ready for a place like this. Those who were are long gone ever since Gaia became a meeting ground for cretin. But, if ever I cross by someone, I'd have to be stupid not to tell them about this place.

If the above rant didn't make much sense, don't worry about it. I don't believe I explain myself very well and I probably contradicted what I said multiple times... or simply didn't even stay on the original topic. That's just what happens when I rant.

The things they wish to pull against me is that what I do is in theory. Physics theories that I've exploited and blended in with Psychic abilities (Psionics, telekinesis on a much finer scale, atomic and molecular) I explain everything I do down to the smallest details, letting the opposition understand the points in which what I do occurs. If I tell you I am blowing you apart and a molecular level, you have chances if you posses the skills to stop me which some do, then it turns into a battle of wits where one false move ends the fight and your life. No physical action would occur, and most of these fights happen with in moments .001's of a second, small frames of time. This is what I dealt with, learned and adapted to my character through extensive IC experience and knowledge.

Ertai is a God for all intense and purposes but the fact he isn't omnipresent or omnipotent. He can regenerate himself, he can manipulate matter and change it to whatever he wishes just by manipulating matter and reconstructing it to what it is he needs, because in the end everything is made of atoms which make elements which make materials. Often time I play down to the opposition, throwing out my highly skilled abilities and rendering myself with my Vexa (Magic) and throw spells around and such, I don't need to cast them because I'm not a ******** DnD wizard with a spell book, these are more native and well trained skills he has acquired from his conquests through the multi-verse. My biggest fault is I have no back up, I am a one man army, I have little or no allies at all so it's me arguing against an entire room of pricks who see what I do as "God-Modding" and s**t, even citing me to new players I've never met, they just run off at the lips trying to call what I do trash. I've been rping online for wayyyyyyyyy over a decade and the skill level here is nothing compared to that of MX or Yahoo in the early stages. It's all these preteen and early twenties faggots who think I'm cheap and out dated.

Anything they know I've already known.

Granted I make my posts complex and I don't offer much spacing for them to decipher paragraphs, it's just another one of the tools of the trade, why am I going to make it more easier for you to beat me when I explained step by step what I am doing. I'll shell out a few thousand words in one post and let you have at it, and you better not miss a detail or your dead. THAT IS THE WAY I FOUGHT, hence I've had one character this entire time who hasn't died, I've beat any life or death situation I've come across, that is why I consider myself a ******** legend a "self-made" God. I have so much experience and history that I can break down a fight from the first post and manipulate it from there to do what it is I wish to do.

You can make your own establishment in the city of sin or you can make your own thread if you wish to have a Gaia based thread of operations. The City of Sin is apart of Vexa. I did have an expansive detailed list of the world but I deleted it, I'm trying to update and clean house and recreate everything better. Bring people you know here, at the moment I am doing a one on one in Ertai's palace which you can break into or whatever he is weak at the moment. If not I'm sure you can make something up.

I know that simple "psionic buffers" can be undone, which is why I stopped saying that they were specifically made to defend against your character, since I've had my defenses stripped by you in the past. I'd have to come up with something else on the fly.

For arena ideas, you should base some off Mortal Kombat. I know their arenas have hazards and stuff for fatalities.

Magic gets beaten by psionics? I'd enjoy testing that idea sometime, because I've beaten a lot of psions with much less than psionics. I fall more under the ''Depends on how you use it'' side.

People simply don't enjoy this anymore, and many never did. Once upon a time even I had characters who can snap their fingers and shift through universes, manipulate planar boundaries, or blink a person out of existence through one way or another. That sort of 'complex' style is great for exercising the mind, in my opinion, and forces you to pay great attention to detail. One wrong word and you lose, that's how it used to be, wasn't it? I find those types of battles were very engaging, against such like Xetas or Tetragrammatons.

But, it's just not fun on Gaia, for me or the other person. Namely because the opponent typically doesn't have the same level of ''power'', basically not on a God-level or around that. Most people do not enjoy your character for either two reasons (in my opinion). Either A). They are more story-oriented, and don't enjoy having obscenely powerful characters capable of ripping the story apart at will. Even if that's not what you do, the fear is likely enough. Or B) The most likely scenario. People get pissed when a lose. Angsty teenagers and self-proclaimed veterans get even more pissed, though I think they're finally growing up ^_^. They choose to ignore anyone who pisses them off by labeling them something with a negative connotation. In fact, people do it a lot. Though now, playing the ''internetz and rp is lulz'' card is definitely part of the ''in'' crowd now.

No, people nowadays make their ''Street Fighter'' character in a vain attempt to be equal.. in a different sort of way. It's part of a concept that took the RPing world by storm a few years ago. ''People with big powers have no skill. There's no skill in powers.'' Blah blah blah. The people who couldn't play in powers, or didn't want to, ditched them and claimed that only mild powers and melee combat require ''more skill''.. which ranks as one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. Mild distraction. Anyways, people make Street Fighter/King of Fighters characters because they want to fit in, or because they wanna be cool by having mild powers and cool sprites that are ripped and re-colors of games. That's not to say all of 'em are like that.. in fact most aren't. Some of them just have more fun that way, I suppose. I kinda do too, nowadays.

[/useless]

As for citing you... ho'boy. Do you even know? Maybe you do. I've met a gripload of people who sling your name around like crazy, ''lulz, you're an Ertai''.. and can't even tell me properly who the hell you are. Silly, Silly Gaians.

Again, I say things come with fairness, literacy, and execution. Were you to explain everything in high detail, the most I could do would be to complain about the fact of not understanding the exact physics behind them move(which is rare for me not to understand), in which case I'd likely just look it up or ask you directly were that to happen. Sure I might argue with you over exactly what happened, confusion is bound to occur somewhere, but to simply just write you off as god-modding would be the d**k move.

Referencing my character, Revan, again, I don't think I've ever actually lost a fight I didn't actually think I wouldn't win on this sight, unless for the sake of the story, allowed my to be beaten by a desperation move. When I walk into a fight, I expect to fight people of Ertai's level, whether they are God-class beings or not. My very skill comes from treating everything i come across as a fatal threat, so i forcibly leave little room for errors. Though, this is for someone with a much lesser degree of powers, I fully understand what you mean and wholeheartedly agree that Gaia as a site community lacks skill, awareness, and furthermore, openness to what is outside of their knowledge or usual comfort zone.

Ha! That last paragraph, though, you're definitely from the same age as my teacher. Take into account ever detail, including those missed in the whole, and take full advantage of them. Manipulate the wholes and you can very much manipulate your opponent. But, again, I rarely ever take on this form of RPing unless otherwise challenged. I am a more casual player and have taken on more casually themed roleplays, one's you'd probably not enjoy simply for diffrence in either age(.

It's kinda an honor to know that you think as highly of me as I think you do, which is just enough to be noticed. Honestly, I'm not even twenty yet(though that will be righted before the end of this year), and I've only been role playing for around 7 years now. But, the people I did roleplay when I started were like you, which is where I attributed my skill from.

I'll try and make something decent somewhere before the end of the weak. Again though, my creative flow is a bit weak at the moment, and I don't want to disappoint.
