This is...new. Here I am writing in the journal of my new child, a girl child named Oriana. I'm not quite sure why she came to be in my possession, or why someone would really choose me as her adoptive mother. This is the first time I've ever had a child given to me that had an adoptive parent before they came into knowing my fantastic parenting styles (if I do say so myself). Thus far, Oriana (I am now going to call her Ria for length matters) has been a very good child. She has slept most of the afternoon away, giving me time to figure out just how I am to care for her and perhaps why I am to care for her. Ema came to me earlier, she seemed distressed about something and handed me Ria. I was slightly confused (more as to how she had found me in my moutain home than to why she was giving me a child) before I really grasped the fact that I was being given her child. She left quickly, not answering my questions and instead leaving me with a journal, some notes and, of course, Ria. From the notes I have found that the girl I now call Ria use to be called Ana, a name I cannot call her for I myself have already a child called Anna. I found some dislikes and likes and some scraps of information regarding her manner, but nothing to really allow me to know the child. But, I suppose, that will come in time. For now, I write to relieve some of the tension building in my body. It wasn't until after Ema left that I got the call from Time, informing me of Angela's death. The blow was hard and Ria awoke at nearly the exact moment; not giving me time to really get over the blow of losing my daughter-in-law. Maybe that is why Ema left. I do know that she had been leaving Gaia more and more often. Life itself must have called her away from her former life and her children. I only hope nothing ever calls me that way. And if it does, well, I know I will never leave my children with a nun. Ema did good in that. Oh, I suppose I must stop this pen to paper writing and leave to fetch Ria. I think she has just discovered I was not watching her sleep. My, even her cry is cute. Such an adorable child, why I remember when Anna was her age. Except Anna had the gorgeous brown curls but Ria has the exotic green hair. Complete opposites in looks; but perhaps alike in nature? I read that she is good with distinguishing animals and it seems she has a kindly personality. Such a great adventure like to come.

VeilsOfWhite (7:54:58 PM): Sam was still slightly reeling from what had happened earlier as she walked in the park. It was a nice day out and she couldn't help but feel her anxiety quickly flow out of her as she felt the warmth of the sun caressing her face. Such a simple thing and it was even having an effect on Oriana, who seemed to be immobile, though Sam knew her to be awake. "Look Ria, a butterfly" Sam was saying, trying to coax the littel girl out of her slight stupor. Ria looked around, placing the animal in her mind, and she reached toward it, gurgling slightly as though trying to feel happier. Shadaloojunkie (8:06:10 PM): Flitch was sitting on a park bench, nose buried in his book. It was a lovely day today, and he didn't want to waste it by being indoors. So he'd taken his books with him and taken up residence on his favorite bench in the park. Here he could sit beneath the large trees, safely in the shade yet dappled with just enough sunlight. Very nice. At hearding voices, the blue-haired Sin peered over the rim of his book, his large blue eyes watching the lady and the baby. The baby seemed... vaguely familiar. Had he met her before? If he had, it had certainly been a while... VeilsOfWhite (8:08:22 PM): Sam and Ria both looked at the butterfly a little longer, it's golden wings glittering in the brilliant sunlight before it floated off; the breeze taking it from them. Ria seemed dissapointed by the disappearance of the butterfly and Sam was quickly trying to cheer her up. "Look, ants!" she said suddenly, pointing to the ground by the park bench. Ria immediately honed in, peering at each of the ants in turn as Sam let her closer to the ground. Keeping an eye on Ria, Sam looked around. "What are you reading?" she asked a blue haired boy she saw sitting on the bench. Shadaloojunkie (8:12:51 PM): At the woman's address, Flitch smiled and held up the book so she could read. "Romance of the Three Kingdoms," he explained. "It's a book about a war that happened a long time ago." Still smiling, the blue haired child closed the book, so that he could now focus fully on the woman and infant. "Is she a Sin'aeis?" he asked with a tilt of his head. "I think I've seen you a long time ago..." VeilsOfWhite (8:14:48 PM): "Romance of the Three Kingdoms? Pray tell, which three kingdoms?" Sam asked curiously, she was a great lover of books. Unless they had to do with nuns. "Sin'aeis? I think so...the name sounds very familiar, I can place reading it. Though, you wouldn't have seen me. My friend Ema sort of...dropped Oriana off today. No explanation was given, but I think it may have to do with the death of her other daughter..." Sam said absentmindedly, looking over at Oriana again. Ria looked over and smiled at both of them, an ant crawling over her palm. Shadaloojunkie (8:21:58 PM): "Ooh..." Flitch frowned. "That's sad. I feel sorry for your friend. But Oriana... I think I've met her. I'm Flitch." Once again, he glanced at his book. "Oh... three ancient kingdoms in China. But they were called the Wu, Wei, and Shu. It's good, but long..." VeilsOfWhite (8:26:03 PM): "Most things that have to do with history are long" Sam replied with a smile before plopping down on the ground at the foot of the bench, she had always preferred dirt to wood. Ria stopped and crawled over to Flitch, sticking out her hand (which was still covered in ants) "It is sad but...that is life. It ends, it starts. Lucky for us, Ria is just at the beginning" she said still smiling before she absently scratched one of her ears, it folded slightly over itself the point pointing downwards before she released it. "So, you're a Sin? And you know Ria? Very good, I don't know her very well myself." Shadaloojunkie (8:28:23 PM): Flitch giggled, patting Oriana on the head absentmindedly. "Actually... I haven't seen her in ages, so I don't remember her at all. I think I was still just a baby when we last met. Odd though... I think we're roughly the same age. Odd, huh? Oh well. People grow at their own paces." VeilsOfWhite (8:30:48 PM): "Yes, it is odd. My daughter Anna was like that, everyone grew around her but she didn't. I always found it strange because she was the most mature, which I suppose makes sense; if you are more mature then it takes you longer to grow into a greater person." Sam smiled again, her speach seeming silly even to her ears. Ria laughed at Flitch and stuck her hands back to the ground, finding another animal instead. This time a ladybug graced her fingers. Shadaloojunkie (8:35:20 PM): Flitch giggled, then shrugged. "Maybe. But people are strange things. They like to change in their funny little ways." Again, he giggled. "Ah, I don't know what I'm talking about. But still... it's nice to see Ria again. How long have you been taking care of her?" VeilsOfWhite (8:36:15 PM): "Oh a few hours, not long at all" Sam replied, again gazing to Ria. It was nice to meet another Sin, it made her feel like she wasn't going to completely screw Ria up. "So...what exactly is a Sin?" she asked VeilsOfWhite (8:38:38 PM): "Oh a few hours, not long at all" Sam replied, again gazing to Ria. It was nice to meet another Sin, it made her feel like she wasn't going to completely screw Ria up. "So...what exactly is a Sin?" she asked, Ria looked up in earnest at teh question as though it sparked some hidden curiosity she had. Shadaloojunkie (8:42:49 PM): "Oh, so it wasn't explained?" Flitch shrugged, sliding to sit on the ground as well. "Okay... where to start... Oh well. Not too much to say, now that I think of it. We're just regular people, really, but we are based off of... food. It's our element or something. We also get a couple of special features pretaining to our element. See?" He held up his hand, showing off the translucent webbing between his fingers. "I'm fish, so I got webbed fingers. AND I'm not a boy," he added with a small giggle. "But I'm not a girl either. I'm just Flitch." VeilsOfWhite (8:45:34 PM): "Ah so you're unisex? That sounds fun, you could be a guy one day, a girl the next. Frivolous, but it could make for laughs." Sam said with a grin, Ria seemed to find this funny and she laughed before tumbling over onto her tummy so she could crawl. Sam looked at her, suddenly seeming more awake before relaxing again. "And no, Ema didn't explain it. I have to go and find the adoption agency that she could Ria from sometime, so she (and I) can meet more Sin and learn more about...well everything." Shadaloojunkie (8:53:38 PM): "I can show you sometime," Flitch offered cheerily. "Only it's not an adoption agency. It's really more of Chaco finding homes for all of us. He's sort of out leader," Flitch added. "Though we never really see much of him..." VeilsOfWhite (8:54:38 PM): "Chaco...let me guess, he was made from Chocolate? WHy is he the leader?" Sam asked curiously, taking the crawling Ria off the ground and placing her in her lap. Ria didn't seem to mind this change much and proceeded to drop worms on Sam's pants. Shadaloojunkie (9:00:02 PM): Flitch shrugged. "He just is. He's older than the rest of us, knows more about the Sin'aeis, and... well, he's just in charge..." VeilsOfWhite (9:01:22 PM): "Makes sense, I suppose" Sam said before getting up, Ria still clamped tightly in her arms. "I'm sorry to cut this meeting short but I have to go. Have a good day, Flitch, it was nice to see you." Sam said and Ria waved goodbye, throwing a worm at Flitch for good luck. "Eh...sorry about the worm" Sam said her eyes slightly widening though she smiled at Ria before she turned and walked out of the park.

Yesterday was eventful, I seem not to be able to muster anything more description. It was just eventful. First, Ria came to me, then at the park we meet the young boy Flick...wait, it was actually Flitch right? I'm not sure if I really remember-names escape me. So Ria is a Sin...how interesting! I suppose she's after a strawberry, well...I know she is. That's whats written down in Ema's book. She was very good last night, only waking once for food before delving back into the land of sleep. I wonder if Aaron visited her in the night. Which reminds me, I need to call all the kids and have them up to the house sometime soon. I'd like them to meet her.

-Oriana has been very peaceful lately, though I think she is only now beginning to understand Ema's dissappearance. This, of course, makes me think that she will soon become fussy and cling to me, as if she thinks I too will abandon her. I hope I never do what Ema did to her. Ema, I know, had good reasons for what she did. Other goals took hold of her and this one just didn't match up in how much it gave back- I get that. I just hope that I can circumvent such things. Ria called to me earlier, I think she is beginning to speak. She said something that sounded like "Sim" so I figured she was talking to me. I mean, the only other beings in this house with me are Cal and Ama and they are both Balan. Cal being the orange one and Ama the pink one. She likes them, Cal and Ama, and she is constantly figuring out what they are related to. A few hours ago, as I read her a story, she pointed to a cat in teh book and then to Cal. She was right they do look similar.

Sam sat in her kitchen, facing two of her grandchildren and her son. Little Ria sat in Chloe's lap. "A mother again, Sam?" Time, her son, was saying as he glanced at the small child in her daughter's lap. The fact that she was once again trying to raise a child seemed to amuse him. It also seemed to amuse Ria, who started to laugh at Time and clap her hands. "Sim!" Ria announced, pointing to Sam then to the large pink Balan that swirled around her feet. They all laughed. "She's beautiful." Chloe said softly, still holding the child. In the young girl Sam could already see the workings of a natural mother. Too bad Sam herself lacked these workings. "Yes, a pain though. I really hope she won't be a nun when she gets older" Everyone stared at Sam with a sigh; except for Ria who clapped again and said "Nun!" That really was pivotal to Sam and she turned ashen. "No, nuns are bad" she quickly explained and Aaron rolled his eyes. "Dude, they are just fat chicks who like to wear black. So goth." he said, Sam was quite sure he was speaking a different language. "Dude, speak English. I don't speak Surfer Dude" she said before taking Ria from Chloe, who anounced her arms were growing tired, and set her down on the floor with Ama (the pink Balan). "Cat" Ria anounced, exercising her power to identify animals. Chloe smiled. "Yes, he likes you" she anounced, exercising her ability to read animals minds. Sam really wasn't liking the whole 'being left out of the animals' scene. It was then that Ria yawned and Sam picked her up. "I think its time for someone to go to sleep" she said, bringing the small girl to her bedroom. It was, perhaps, then that she noticed that Ria was much like Anna. They were both extremely happy children.

-Life has been so hectic lately, it almost seems as if I've had no time to just relax. Ria is doing well, she's met all of the family now and they seem to like her. More importantly she seems to like them. Despite how hectic it has been, nothing new has really happened. It's just hte menial everyday tasks that have caught me up in this warped world of rushing minutes. I feel bad, I really do for if I was not so busy I would have brought Ria out to meet more Sin. Until Friday I can't...I just hope she will be ok with that.

-We are all sick in my house, every single one of us. Of course there are really only two of us in the house (not counting the pet) but that really doesn't matter. What matters is that we are two light-headed, throwing uppers who sneeze out gross metallic boogies (ok maybe not). It's gross, it's more than disgusting and you know what- we ain't enjoying one churching minute of it! Yes, I said churching, got a problem? 'Cause I sure don't! Ria's taken it better than I have. She's just all 'ok whatever, this is life,' while I alone curse this forsaken planet into oblivion as one of its inhabitants (bacteria) cause me to feel gross. She's so cute too, all sick and huddled up in blankets sucking that dear old thumb of hers. I can't pull off such cuteness. I look like a booger monster. When Ria get's older, we can be the booger sisters. That could be cool. Peace, boogie peeps.

"Holy mother of cows! Who's there!!?" Sam yelled, slightly stunned to have heard a voice, besides her own, in the small confines of her kitchen. Thinking only of the fact that there may be an evil rapist in her kitchen, she turned her body quickly around, a frying pan held dangerously in her uplifted hand. Gazing around the kitchen, Sam saw nothing but the beads of light that shone in through the filtered curtains their descent to objects completely unraveled in it's brilliancy. For a few moments she was stunned by the silent spectacle; until she realized that what she thought was filtered light was really just clouds of dust. "Ew" Moaning in disgust, Sam set down her frying pan and resumed her work; she hadn't yet noticed the small bundle of joy lying at her feet. "Elf" the voice squeaked again, mocking Sam in her haste to find another weapon -this time a tomato. "Tomatos! Come out you vermin, come out!" She yelled again, seemingly blind for a few moments. It wasn't until she went to go put the tomoto in the fridge did she notice Ria. Well, notice is the wrong word for she really tripped over the young'n. Ria tumbled over as Sam fell with a great crash upon the floor. "Elf!" she exclaimed again, this time laughing and Sam looked at her questionly, a pencil poised ready to attack. 'Ria, talkin'?' Sam couldn't believe this and she silently pondered hte obvious fact. So much for children growing up fast, this one was supersonic! "Elf?" Sam questioned, getting onto her belly and squirming over to Ria. Ria nodded and grinned again. "Elf" she said again, patiently, this time pointing to Sam's ears.

-Ria spoke the other day! Though...she called me 'elf'. Whatever happened to 'mom' I'm not quite sure. Though, I suppose it's better than nun or something. Today we went and stopped by my daughter, Rik's, house. She just had a child of her own- a small boy named Skylar. He is nearly as gorgeous as his mother. They got along well, though he is a newborn. I wonder what it will be like when he gets older.

-Snow is falling steadily outside as I write. I am deeply angry at this snow, for it is blocking all ways out of my little mountain hole. I doubt I'll see life for a little while, at least not until I or someone else fights their way through the awful white mess. Ria is in love with the snow. You would think, as she is a baby, that she would despise the icy, wet cold that is exuded from the substance...but no. She seems to yearn for it, so much that she sticks her hands upon the paned glass and strokes it as if the snow will come to her sooner.

Great. Today, Valentine's Day, has always been widely regarded in Sam's household as the day of fake affection. Why fake affection? Well, because Sam could never really get a date and therefore she found that everyone else must, surely, be faking theirs. Uh hem. Maybe that wasn't suppose to be said. ANYWAY, today was that dreaded day of the year and Sam was nowhere near as peppy as she really should have been. After all, the day was warm, the sun was shining. But no, St. Valentine had to go and spoil the day. Bah humbug. Ria, of course, seemed to like the day of flowers and love. Or, as Sam put it, she liked to act like the devils reincarnate (AKA. nuns) and be happy about love. Sam hated to think she was teaching the child such good things so early in life, after all too much good was bad, correct? And so, Sam sat in hte kitchen, fuming about the fact that Ria was on the floor being all happy and baby like as she sucked on a heart shaped piece of red paper that she had wanted so much. Ria was really starting to be too much like Anna. Speaking of Anna... Bah. "Ria, Valentine's day really isn't a good day!" Sam proclaimed...again. Ria, down below, could almost be seen rolling her baby eyes as she exclaimed for the 80th time that day: "Elf love!" Elf love. Interesting. Yet, what does she really mean? Maybe she is trying to push Sam into dating. Or maybe not. If Sam really thought that death glares would be going Ria's way that instant and instead Sam was laughing. Maybe that was where Ria was getting the impression about V-Day. Ria ignored Sam's laughter and instead continued to naw on the heart. It was pretty and she wished so hard that her incessant sucking could bring it to life. THe thump thump of a heart was great to hear. It reminded her of the animals and the trees.. Where were her animals? Ria didn't know. And she looked around for the pink one, the one that Sam epitomized the colors of the god-forsaken day. She looked for a few minutes before going back to her paper heart. What a fun day...

-Ria is adjusting well to the cold weather that has suddenly hit my region of the world. Not that she likes the cold weather, like her strawberry element. I can tell that once winter decides to lose her icy fingers and instead regain the tips of spring she will be very happy. In the meantime, I am dealing with a crabby baby. I did mention she was adjusting well, but what I mean by that is that she hasn't tried to cut off my fingers yet. Why she would attempt to take my fingers, I haven't really thought about yet.

-I'd like to think that Ria is growing, expanding into that little person she is suppose to be. But I don't think she is. It's hard to tell with babies, for they don't have the means to tell you anything. She is a cute handful, my cute handful, but... I can't wait until she gets a bit older.

Ria looked at the sky, the melted snow making puddles around her. "Elf" she started, staring at a cirrus cloud gone awry. It looked large and soft...but thin and transparent. Ria wanted to sit on that cloud. "Elf!" she whined, waiting for her mother to come over, her elf. It was long moments before she saw the black haired elf come into view. She didn't look quite happy, but did she ever? "Elf!?" she repeated this, hoping that Elf would understand through her limited vocabulary. Elf walked over and sat on the ground besides Ria and looked in the direction of her pointed hand. When Elf did this, Ria always felt special. She'd sit there and watch whatever Ria watched, just to show she cared. "The cloud?" Elf asked, pointing to what Ria was pointing at and Ria nodded and clapped her hands. Elf laughed. "Ria, I can't give you the clouds" she said with a smile, before Ria felt herself being picked up and swung around like an airplane. She was laughing...until she spotted the blue jay. Then that took her attention.

Cuddled in Sam's arms, Ria looked to be the typical baby. Plump cheeked and happy, she sucked on her thumb vigorously while her eyes roamed the room. The daylight of a nearing spring made the child all the more happy and she gurgled expectantly. More animals to catch, to find, to see. Sam, on the other hand, was yelling into the phone about twins...
