Jez nodded at Z. "Thank you for clearing that up. And now, for the obvious question: what the hell just happened here?"
She gazed intently at the unconscious man's blank, withholding face.

"Strange enough. Question is, why?" Jez peered at the man's face once more, but his closed eyes and open mouth were of little help. "He's unconscious. His brain's not thinking. I only get thoughts that are running immediately through the mind--but you get the whole picture, don't you? Can't you access him, at least find out the last thing he thought or saw?"
She turned to Him, Their faces so close together They were almost kissing. "Jem," She stated simply. "We've been watching this video for ten minutes. We're getting nothing out of this."
He heaved a sigh of exhaustion. He agreed; She was right. Nothing was showing up on Their video cameras. They could watch all night, and still, there would be...nothing.
"Amer--" He cut Himself off. No use angering Her again by using Her name, although She had used His. She must be desperate, He thought.
I am desperate, She thought back.
They spoke the last thought together.
"We should be."

"Once again, I cannot access his mind while he is unconscious. Sleeping is fine, but this is different. Besides, even if I could get in his mind, it's locked up tighter than mine own." Z said, sitting cross-legged on a cushion of nothing.

Jez shrugged. "It's okay. Not that we could get much from him even while he was sleeping, right?" she grinned. She turned to Pearl. "You'll have to help us then. You know this guy?" she gestured to the demon-man.
((I hope it's okay that I called you the demon man, Hell. But I don't know your name yet.))

"You know him better than we do. Anyone here got any medication that might wake him up? He's seems to have gone out pretty hard." Jez peered at the unconscious man. "Look! A... is that a bite?" she asked, seeing the bite on the demon's neck.

Jez stumbled, but caught herself. "Ouch," she grumbled, but straightened, and looked at Pearl. "I wasn't suggesting they were yours. I saw him collapse. You had no chance to bite him... and he's not showing the signs of a recently-bitten...miss?" she asked, wondering her name. "I'm Jez," she replied, extending her hand courteously.

Hell gasped for air behind his mask, which made it sound like he was hissing. The buzzing noise was gone. Hell opened his eye, the light flooding in burned a little, before he was able to see the several figures above him. He felt his hair stand on end, his lips curled up under his mask---- his demon side was, once again, acting up. "Ahhghhhhh, get away from me........." He said, but it came out more like a screech, because of his father's strong genetics. Hell backed up and scrambled away, back into his tree, like a squirrel.
His mask was loose, they'd probably seen the two age-old teeth marks----a gift from the girl his father'd set him up with, a half angel half demon hybrid. She'd been killed, the angels were ashamed of her and set her on a suicide mission---- without telling her, of course--- to attack the demon realm. It was partially that reason that he'd ended up here.Hell shook his head, and tightened his mask properly.

"Pearl." She said simply. when hell awoke, she jumped back, giving him space. She knew what demons were capable of, and she didnt like it.

Jez practically leaped up out of her skin, watching Hell scramble up the tree. "Thanks, Pearl," she told the vamp. Then, louder: "Hey? Hey, mister...sorry, I don't know your name, but...could you tell us why you have bite marks?" she asked, then, without needing to hear him speak, read his thoughts.
"Oh my God..." she murmured. "So many memories...so much pain and sadness...Hell?" she asked. "That's your name, right? Well, um, Hell? Could you come down, please? Get yourself under control first, that is," she added tentatively, feeling stupid for not asking that in the first place.
Quietly: "Hey, Z...what're you gettin' from him? Demon, definitely, bite marks are from a hybrid that's now dead... but I can't get anything else. He's blocking his mind, Z, I can't tell how, but he's cleared his mind..."

Pearl looked up at him in the tree. Her eyes shifted in colors, she was practicing her mind control. "Please come down." She said in a monotone, flat voice, to close to her own. "We wont hurt you. We just want to talk."

"If you know what I am, I suppose I might as well stop hiding it," Hell said, unbuckling all twenty of his mask's buckles, revealing the pale white skin and the dark vine markings that covered his throat, and half his face. He left the patch over his eye on. "Hell, it means light in my mother's native tongue, home in my father's." There was nothing to talk about, and he knew they couldn't hurt him.
