Damadra crossed her arms, clearly angry "What's a masquerade anyway? Sounds like more work." she said glaring at Freyak.

Freyak turned to Damadra, "They actually aren't half bad. A masquerade ball, or bal masqué, is an event which the participants attend in formal costumes such as 15th century gowns and suits wearing a mask. I've been to quite a few, Masquerade balls were sometimes set as a game among the guests. The masked guests were supposedly dressed so as to be unidentifiable. This would create a type of game to see if a guest could determine each others' identities. This added a humorous effect to many masques and enabled a more enjoyable version of typical balls." he lectured, turning back to dust the pedestal the golden fairy bust was sitting on.

Damadra gave Freyak a bored look and pretended to snore, "Couldn't you have given me the Reader's Digest version? I just had the best sleep i've had in months."

Hours later, Kirin was eagerly awaiting the return of her Master at the mansion entrance. She was getting tired of holding the full basket and three large party outfits. From a bend in the fabric that looked like an oversized hood on Kirin, she saw Alaster and Alice walking up the sidewalk. "Miss Alice!?" she blurted uncharacteristically, nearly dropping the heavy basket.

Alice smiled at the sight of Maid Kirin, she had always been such good friends with her. "Kirin!" she cried out enthusiastically, rushing ahead from Alaster and lifting the heavy outfits off of Maid Kirin.

Maintaining his strolling pace, Alaster casually walked up to Maid Kirin and Alice, taking the basket and outfits politely. He opened the door and waited for Alice to walk in, smiling sweetly at her. "Ladies first."

Alice still didn't smile back at Alaster, walking inside with Kirin and ignoring his comment. "I heard hot shot here was throwing a party." Alice said to Kirin.

Maid Kirin fluttered into the dining room, "Yes, Miss Alice." she nodded, flying into the kitchen and flying out with plates of meals Damadra had made.

"Looks delicious." Alice smiled and said to Kirin, acting as if Alaster didn't exist as she walked into the dining room. "Kirin, i'm going to head to my wash room and freshen up." she said, looking down at the dried blood on her dress and walking upstairs.

Alaster sighed, walking into the living room and placing the basket on the coffee table. He slung the outfits gently over the back of a couch near the table and walked back into the dining room.
Freyak came in through the door moments after and firmly slapped Alaster's back, "Women. They love you one moment and loathe you the next. Don't worry, she'll be loving you again in five minutes." implying mood swings, Freyak let out a hearty laugh.
Alaster smiled, "You're nuts."

Upstairs, in Alice's old room, she dug through her closet for a change of clothes. 'Half of this doesn't even fit me anymore.' Alice thought frustrated. She considered simply washing her dress that now lay in a crumpled heap on her floor, but that would take too long. "Kirin? Could you go get me one of your sister's outfits?" she said to Maid Kirin who was now waiting politely at her door after having finished setting the table.
"Yes, Miss Alice." Kirin said, leaving the room and returning moments later with a Maid's Dress from when Damadra was the house maid. "Here you go, Miss Alice." she said handing Alice the dress.
Alice gave the dress a strange look. It was almost her size, which was fine for now, she just couldn't picture herself running around in a tiny maid's costume. ". . . Thanks." Alice said, taking the dress from Kirin and changing into it.

Alice walked out of her room and down the steps toward the dining room. The dining room table was long, lined with twelve chairs on each side and two from the front and back. Alaster sat in the front chair at the top of the table, so of course she spitefully took the bottem chair opposite from him to stay far away. She sat down and stared at her plate for a moment, "You know, i'm not here because i want to be. Only because i have to. If Morganna hadn't shown up, i would never have set foot within a hundred yards of you." Alice said coldly, refusing to look at Alaster.

Alaster looked at Alice with a plain expression, unsure on how to react. "Well," he paused searching for words, "Things.. happen for a reason. Weather you or i like it or not, you can't change it. All you can do is look at it from a positive standpoint, at least you're back." he smiled at Alice.

Alice shot Alaster a viciously icy glare, "At least i'm back?" she said, still peircing him in her stare "How is that a 'positive standpoint' for me? The only reason i left was to get away from you!"
Freyak uncomfortably left the room, returning to the kitchen.
Alice raised her voice, rising out of her seat and slamming her hands down on the table. "And now that i have someone much worse after me, i have to come crawling back to the monster i ran from!" Alice impulsively grabbed an empty wine glass placed in front of her and chucked it at Alaster.
