"Well, I wouldn't call it a hinderance really, it just makes it difficult to get to know one another when they're not around often." She replied as she shifted slightly, trying to keep herself, or at least her legs, warm. At Merashik's comment about them still being family, she nodded in agreeance. "Very true. There is nothing more important than family, they're the ones you can always run to when in trouble or in need, no matter what."

She nodded in agreement. "Very true indeed. Family is always there to fall back on should you need them.. at least.. some are.. I've heard of families who're spiteful with one another and tear themselves apart.. but could you truly call those families even if they are all related?" She fell silent for a moment, undoubtedly thinking about this over. After a time she shook her head, apparently coming to her own conclusion on this. "I for one wouldn't consider that a very good family if a family at all.."

Kihaku listened as Merashik questioned whether a spiteful family was still considered a family or not. Her last comment caused her to frown and kick the ground softly. "I don't know about that. Just because the members may not be exactly close, they are still family by blood. And I'm sure, given extreme circumstances, even the most scornful soquili would help their family member if truly needed." She stated with a small nod of her head. She was always a big believer of family, even despite how scattered her true family is, it is better than having no one.

"I suppose you do have a point.. Times of trials and hardships do seem to draw families close together..." Nodding she thought for a moment. " So... What do you suppose we should do on such a chilled day?" Her ears perked and flicked slightly as she tried to get a bit of warmth to them in the cold air.

Kihaku nodded as well, smiling as a thought came to her mind. "Yes, I know from personal experience. When I had been found after getting lost as a foal, my family was closer than ever." She explained with a flick of her tail. Her fur quivered lightly as a small, but cold breeze blew by. "Well, I heard running helps warm the body. Perhaps we can go for a run?"

She smiled giving a nod. "A run would be nice.. just so long as we don't find any icy patches or gopher holes that were left over from summer..." She glanced around the area. " Hmm.. How about to the treeline and back? or maybe even a lap around the clearing, trotting in the corners."

"I do not think we will have to worry about gopher holes, they usually cover those up when they're done, but yes, there is true worry about the ice patches." She replied with a small, reassuring smile. At the mention of the tree line, her red eyes scanned the area until she also spotted the beginning of the forest in the distance. "Either would be fine with me. They're both good exercise and will keep us warm."

She nodded with a light chuckle. "true, either would be decent exercise to keep warm with. How about we do a lap around the clearing then." With that, she started out at a brisk trot, heading for the edge of the clearing that way they could get the full use of it in their exercise.

Kihaku smiled and nodded as well. "That sounds great." She chimed softly, watching the other mare take off in a trot. Giggling softly, she soon followed after in a slightly hurried trot to keep in stride. Once caught up, she slowed down a bit and joined her new friend in a soothing little lap of the clearing.

She grinned as they made their way around the clearing. It was not unlike any of the training she and her father had done when she'd been growing up and the fact that he had another female joining her was just more fun. "Almost as much fun as training with my father." She chuckled.

Kihaku smiled as she trotted with the other mare, enjoying the wind in her mane. She always liked taking little jogs daily since she was a foal, whether with her older brother, father or mother. Not only was it good exersize, but it was a good way to get closer to her family. When Merashik mentioned training, she tilted her head. "Training? For what?" She asked softly.

She smiled fondly at the thought. "My father's a warrior... Could consider him a knightly sort.. My mother as well.. I've been training regularly since I was a filly, only then.. it was more play than training.." She chuckled lightly. "Such play was some times more.. reckless than my father would have liked.. Shoulda seen his face when I took my first big tumble and skinned up my front legs."

Hearing the story of Merashik and her family was nice. It was nice to hear of stories of others whose family are still together, and not scattered like hers was. She knew that the 'mother' she had now isn't her true mother, but accepts her all the same. That's not saying that her and her real mother didn't have a relationship as well. "My father wasn't a warrior per sey, but he was a fighter as I was told. He said he used to travel with three others, killing demons and such." She explained with a flick of her tail. "But even with his fighting background, he still proved rather over protective of me, so we didn't do much rough housing."
