(( Kasumi is trying for the role of Zero! ))

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Kasumi coughed nervously. It was at Belladonna's insistence that she try out for the school play, and without the witch, she wouldn't even have a costume. She paced around backstage, gathering her courage. What was she thinking? Zero was a dog! Zero didn't even speak! But she had to do her best, for Belladonna! Kasumi wasn't the performing type and she resisted at first. Gathering up her dress, her dyed hair was courtesy of Ectoplasmic Essences. Her hair wasn't completely white, but temporarily gray. It would do, for now! Her ghostly ears hung from a headband on her head and she wore a small glowing pumpkin on her nose. With her long hair and long train, surely she could be a halfway decent ghost dog!

Right?

She cautiously appeared on stage, twiddling her thumbs and looking down at her dress. Right! Introduce oneself first! "Umm... hello! My name is Kasumi and I will be auditioning for the role of Zero the ghost dog today. Umm... thank you!" Coughing again, she had to steel herself for her performance. Think ghost dog! Think floating! I can float, right? Yes, float! THINK GHOST DOG.

With tremendous nervous effort on her part, Kasumi managed to float about six inches off the ground. Her dress's train floated along behind her, but since Kasumi wasn't used to floating, her hair fell forward over her face. She didn't think much of this and tucked her arms and legs underneath her. Right, dogs have to make a noise! At first, Kasumi couldn't help but make a throaty, guttural choking sound like she had broken her neck or something.

"EhhhhhhHHHhHHHhh... oh I mean... Bark! Bark bark!"

After floating about the stage and barking her best, Kasumi ended her audition by standing up and giving a bow. "Thank you very much!" She then walked off stage, hoping it was enough to impress Belladonna.

(Sarias is auditioning for the role of Jack)

User Image“Heh, amateurs.” Sarias mumbled, her stitches twisting slightly as she smiled deeply to herself. “They actually want to bring attention to this place by running a show? How very, very sad…well, I shouldn’t be mean, they obviously need help” Pulling herself up from her seat way back in the auditorium, she slowly made her way down the long aisle watching students dressed up in ridiculous hand made outfits perform pathetic auditions, one of her own kind prancing about the stage like a dog of all things, although there wasn’t much acting involved in that one. Her hips sashayed as her tendrils licked at the seats either side, any student sat watching would feel a cold wisp wrap briefly round their necks and then disappear as her form went past.

Gathering her nerves (there were quite a few people in this place!) she walked up the steps and was happirly greeted with a blinding light. Her nerves steadied instantaneously as the spotlight shone onto the stage leaving the audience in darkness. At least she wouldn’t have to see their gawking faces.

“My name is Sarias Blacksling” she purred at the invisible judges, not really sure where to look but giving a “I didn’t really need to say my name, you know me already” look just in case. She knew she had to ooze confidence to win their vote, some other students may miss out the confidence part, but not her.

"I will be auditioning for the role of Jack Skeleton, I feel its hide time for a female role to take on this lead, - and not have the cop-out of a hermaphrodite like last year
The last part was barely audible but still she was unsure if someone heard or not. Who cares, she will blow that last thought right out of their minds.

Walking towards the back of the stage she gave the off hand help a detectable nod as they hit the prepared music for this role. Cooly she thought herself into character, this too wasn't difficult, Jack skeleton, the best in Halloween Town? She will give him a run for his gold pumpkin seeds.

As soon as the music started she twisted on her heels to face the concealed audience, a look of bewilderment and excitement across her features as she open her hands palm out wards to the crowd, arching them in front and across her face as she began to move across the stage, bent over slightly as if creeping, unsure of her surroundings.

"♫ What's this? What's this?
There's colour everywhere! ♪"

She twirled across the stage acting out the song, sprinkling imaginary snow and catching them in her palms.

" ♬ What's this?
There's white things in the air♩"

Her smoke tendrils fanned out out across the stage grabbing at 'carefully place' baubles and Christmas toys and reacting to them in mock surprise as she brought them closer.

" ♪ What's this?
I can't believe my eyes
I must be dreaming
Wake up, Jack, this isn't fair! ♬ "

Spinning with her arms outstretched to the sides, the twirl of her wisps flashing with the colours of the items they had wrapped around, they gathered closer to her until she was a blur of sparkles.

" ♫ What's this!?♩"

Stopping suddenly on the last note she forced herself up on her tendrils, pushing her form off the stage until just one large tail of smoke held her up as the other fainter wisps held onto the Christmas gifts and fanned out from her. The illusion was that of a Christmas tree, Sarias the rather large fairy at the top as her tendrils worked down in steps each grasping a toy or tinsel.

She waited a moment for the image to reach everyone then slowly let her self down, smiling smugly to herself. Sure she messed up the arpeggio on the second verse, but she had nailed it none the less. That's what winners did after all.

(( Carry will be trying out for the part of Oogie Boogie! ))

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Carthusia was nervous, stressed out and overall at the end of her rope. As soon as she heard the announcement for the annual school play, she read up on the parts, did her research and sewed a dress for herself until her hands nearly bled. She was new on campus and hadn't met anyone else yet, but this could be her opportunity! She could show everyone, her family especially, that she could do this thing!. The demoness psyched herself up by checking out a book on Halloween History from the library and read up on the script parts set out for the students for auditions. She wanted desperately to be a part of the play, and thought she would be a much better Oogie Boogie than Sally. She didn't have a high enough soprano voice for the part of the patchwork ragdoll woman, but the most vile creature in all of Halloween? One who boiled the blood of man and scared the piss out of the other denizens of the night?

Sign me up, she said!

Placing an order with the nearby Thrallgreens, Carthusia managed to snag three boxes of Clearall's Nice and Slimy hair dye for this purpose. Her normally sunrise-inspired hair was now a dull swampy color, and she used the leftover dye on her wings. As she fanned them out in front of a mirror, she definitely took on a more Oogie Boogie shape. Excellent! Now she just had to get over her feelings of inferiority and stage fright... ugh. No, don't think that way! Pretend they're in their skivvies! ...wait, that's gross and distracting. No, pretend your family is out there! SHOW THEM WHO IS BOSS.

YES.

Stomping her way out onto the stage, the young lady of avarice faced the judges with her chest puffed and head held high. She imagined one was her mother and one was her father. She would show them who the scariest Oogie Boogie was! "I'm Carthusia, and I'll be showing you the best Oogie Boogie out there!" Yes, command confidence! Own the stage! Show them you're practically Oogie Boogie's great granddaughter or something! She had to keep mentally coaching herself to keep from breaking down into ridiculously terrified tears. She set down her doombox in preparation for the event and clicked on the music to start her performance. Think Oogie! Feel Boogie! BE OOGIE BOOGIE.

Her gruff, alto voice was soft at first as she started the song. "Well, well, what have we here?" She looked down to a place on the stage where the one and only Imaginary Sandy Claws would have been captured. Remember, you are the baddest sack of bugs to ever scare! BE PRODIGIOUS. "Sandy Claws, huh? Ooooooh, I'm really scared!" Hands on her hips, she mockingly taunted the imaginary man strapped to a spot somewhere in front of her. As her confidence grew, so did the volume of her voice. She stepped about Sandy Claws, fanning out her wings to look more rounded.

"So you're the one everybody's been talkin' about! Ha HA~"

Clapping her hands together, she bent over to stare at that spot on the floor. Her rough voice rumbled with each passing verse. "You're jokin'! You're jokin'! I can't believe my eyes!" Stepping around Ol' Sandy in a circle, she continued. "You're jokin' me. You gotta be! This can't be the right guy!"

She pretended to lift someone by the arm to examine them more closely, taunting and mocking them. "He's ancient! He's ugly. I don't know which is worse!" She pretended to throw the person down again and stood over them, smiling "I might just split a seam now, if I don't die laughing first! Ha HA!"

Coughing, she ran over to stop the tape in her doombox and nodded her head. "Right! You know what to do!" She then skittered offstage, ducking behind the curtains to tear off her gloves. She started to chew her nails while hunched over, heart racing. Oh my candlejacking... holy...

It was going to be a long wait.

User ImageShe supposed this wasn't the worst idea she'd ever had.

Riley carried her burlap bag costume hung loosely over one arm. She wasn't about to wear the Jack forsaken thing while other people were doing their auditions. It was itchy and ridiculous, and it wiggled in odd places. Perhaps the costume itself could go up there without her, and perform the piece itself. There had been nothing but bugs and foul intent inside of Oogie Boogie himself, hadn't it? Alas, she'd gone through too much trouble to let the costume somehow discover a life of it's own and steal her glory, now.

There was a pause, and she heard her name called. So it was time. She glided out of her chair and up the aisle with a quiet shuffling that occurred mostly from the burlap bag, then took the steps at a cautious pace. Once she'd finally managed to enter center stage, she dropped her bag and turned to the judges in the audience.

If anyone watching her entrance had wondered exactly how she planned on auditioning for a singing role with no mouth, their questions were at that moment answered as a smooth, silken voice stole into their thoughts. All at once.

Hello, the voice said, My name is Riley. I am a student here at the Academy who will be auditioning for the role of Oogie Boogie today. One hopes you will enjoy my performance.

With introductions out of the way, she took a step to the left, directly into the bag she had dropped beside her, and bent down in quite the ladylike fashion. It didn't seem probable that someone with this penchant for grace would make a good Oogie Boogie, but as she pulled the burlap over her body, and slipped her arms in, the lithe illithid body disappeared. In it's place was a writhing, formless brown body, that wriggled in certain small spots every so often. It was quite groteque, to be honest.

Riley only pulled the bag up to just below her eyes; it seemed her pointed head and suddenly writhing tentacles would be free to add to the spectacle of her performance this evening. There was an area of burlap just below her eyes that seemed folded, almost creviced like a smiling mouth (like a sock puppet's mouth), but it remained immobile as Riley secured her costume. Junko's additions would make sure the costume didn't slip off while she performed, and assured adequate stability. She topped the ensemble with a loosely attached hat.

Four of Riley's hair tentacles slunk down under the folds of cloth on either side of her head, and seemed to disappear.

In Riley's fingerless burlap hand, there was a large pair of dice. Skulls had been etched crudely onto their sides, indicating numbers. This prop had been the least of her concerns.

A beat of silence passed while she seemed to collect herself, and perhaps give the judges a moment to process her appearance. It was then that something similar to a thump could be heard. Silence, then another thump. A rhythmic pulse, coming from backstage. Someone was hitting.. something.. slowly enough to give her a beat. It was all she needed.

The fold of cloth curved upward, clearly moving itself into the position of a menacing, devious smile. Burlap parted, showing that the mouth was truly nothing more than a deep fold in the cloth, but thanks to the tentacles that controlled it, it moved in perfect, creepy timing with the powerful voice that echoed through the minds of everyone in the auditorium.

Well. Well. Well. Each word was pronounced with a bellow, and punctuated with a dramatic pause. What have we HERE? Riley was doing her best to maintain a lower octave than what her normal 'speaking' voice would be.. which wasn't that hard, being it was easy to make thoughts sound the way you want them to - that, and other reasons that allowed her to maintain a surprisingly accurate male voice.

She pointed her burlap-covered hand at the gnome in the center of the judge table, while her body shifted sharply to one side. She chuckled deeply. Sandy Claws, huh? Her arms wrapped around herself, shivering and holding on while she spoke the next line; Oh, I'm REALLY scared.

So YOU'RE the one everybody's talking about? The formless figure glided stage right, arms folding to her chest in disbelief. When it stopped, her head lurched back to glare at the gnomes with distaste, and the tentacles on her head came to life - swaying left to right to the beat of her drippingly sarcastic laughter. Ha. Ha.

Sometimes, it felt really good to be bad.

This was one of those times.

The next few lines were sung in a flurry of motion, bounding liquidly across the stage with arms swaying to the beat. Her voice, booming through their thoughts, was punctuated by soft whispers, a caress of sound following each normal phrase.

You're joking. you're joking YOU'RE JOKING. so funny I can't believe my eyes. they deceive me You're joking me, you gotta be. gotta be This CAN'T be the right guy!

Her bounce stopped and she froze in place, holding her arms up to indicate choking.

He's ancient. so ancient He's UGLY! so fat I don't know which is worse.

With a quick turn to the audience, she held one arm up, and reached over with another. There was a loose thread there, and she idly tugged it as she sang, letting the seams loose.

I might just split a seam now, And as she did so, live spiders skittered quickly out of the seam, desperate to be free of the prison they'd been captured in for hours - and Riley's last line was sung with a throbbing, low, threatening voice.

If I don't die die laughing, first.

Spiders scuttled all across the stage, in every direction. Some may even head for the gnome judges, but it was assured there would be spiders found in nooks and crannies of the audition hall for years to come.

The low beat of thumping that had mysteriously come from the background suddenly stopped, and Riley's arms dropped to her sides. Audition over, it seemed. She looked none the worse for wear.

The mouth stopped moving, and her tentacles reappeared - she unfastened the hooks that held the costume up, and it flopped lifelessly to the ground. Dozens more small spiders crawled desperately out from the wreckage.

Thank you for your time, Riley's normal, gentle voice emitted to the judges as she picked up an edge of the burlap and dragged the costume off behind her.

Sorry about the spiders.

User Image(( Tybalt is trying out for Zero! |D ))

Tybalt watched the other students as they played out the roles of their favoured characters. Some of which were pretty good. Others? Not so much. Not that he could say anything. He was a lousy actor. Probably one of the worst. Though it didn't stop him from at least trying. He didn't want to be one of the few students who didn't try. On the bright side, his preferred character had the least amount of lines--if any at all. It couldn't get much better than that! This way he wouldn't have to fret about forgetting his lines. Not to mention singing... He had never really tried it before and he didn't want to try anytime soon. Especially in front of other people. That could have some rather embarrassing results!

Noting that it was his turn now, the black--err now white dog ( thanks to some white foundation and quick-set hair dye ), neared the stage wondering how exactly to go about this audition. Then again, what exactly could he do? All he really remembered about Zero was that he floated about and didn't speak or make any sound at all. Ahh... In a way, the lack of lines made things even more difficult if he really thought about it.

"Err Tybalt, trying out for Zero?" He mumbled; allowing his body to fade enough that he was looking more translucent then he was solid and making his legs fade completely. Giving the the illusion that he was floating. At least his natural ability could aid him in this.

((Junko will be auditioning for the part of Sally!))
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
She was all set! Junko had finished her projects for her friends, or at least gotten as far along as she could that would allow her to do something for herself without feeling too terribly bad about it, and she had even finished her own mini project for her audition. She'd heard about the auditions coming up and she had also heard it was mandatory. The word mandatory actually kind of worried her, because she wasn't exactly sure if she had the talent for this, but she'd certainly try! She'd thought about who she could audition for, thought long and hard...and the only character she felt she could even begin to portray was Sally, the leading lady. Quite an ambitious role to audition for, she knew! But it was her only option. She wouldn't be too upset if she didn't make the role since she wasn't exactly the most confident and she knew it, so even if she didn't make an acting role she was more than happy to offer her services to make costumes, but at the same time the longer she worked on this dress for it the more she felt more and more...like Sally. Sally liked to sew, right? And so did Junko! Maybe this wasn't so bad after all. Junko wanted to be Sally! It was difficult to do since Junko had never made a patchwork dress before but she managed it quickly enough, though it did have her own influences she just couldn't help doing that! She even used a bit of makeup to draw stitching on her own body, giving herself drawn on eyelashes as well. There! Just like Sally, right? Oh...but her hair! Her hair wasn't red and she had no wigs! It had taken a lot of bribing but Junko did eventually get Her to agree to be quiet and not move around and ruin this for her, brushing her hair and sighing with relief when She relaxed it and let it just hang.

There were lots of other girls auditioning for Sally! And they were doing really well too, even Yaya. She couldn't compete with Yaya! She was so pretty and elegant...sigh. The other auditions were really good too! Junko had never acted before, and she'd never really given singing an actual effort before. She hoped she did okay! Suddenly it was her turn and she was forced from her worried thoughts, gulping as she slowly walked out onto the stage, blushing with nervousness. Junko smiled and made her best effort to look sure of herself, not wanting to look like she didn't want the part as much as she really, really was starting to want it. Junko gave a brief bow. "Ah...hello! My name is Junko and I'll be auditioning for Sally today." As if it wasn't obvious enough from her get-up. She cleared her throat and smoothed out her dress to calm her own nerves as best as she could and then she finally took in a deep calming breath. Okay...time to do this! Now or never! She had no music but that was okay, she'd just do this without it!

She closed her eyes and placed her hands on her chest for a moment, a small frown on her lips as she began to sing*.

"I sense there's something in the wind, that feels like tragedy's at hand.." She started to walk slowly across the stage, her eyes opening and staring up at the ceiling. Jack was already Sandy Claws and up in the air, right? She was pretty sure! She wasn't used to the heels she was wearing, stumbling for just a second and trying desperately to make it look intentional. She couldn't let that mess her up! Continue, continue! "And though I'd like to stand by him...can't shake this feeling that I have..." She moved her hands to rub at her upper arms, looking away from the sky to close her eyes and turn her head down enough that it was clear she was looking away sadly but her face could still be seen by those watching. Her shoulders hunched forward, trying to curl up within herself. "The worst is just around the bend...and does he notice...my feelings for him?" Her eyes opened a little and she turned them up to the sky again, still not looking very confident...not in her own performance, it was all the character! This song was just so heartbreaking; she couldn't help but get into it. She leaned against a nearby wall and slowly slid down it, turning her gaze down to the floor again as she sat down and curled her legs beneath herself. "And will he see how much he means to me? I think it's not to be..." Junko let her voice die off then lest she continue on with the song. The script for the audition had said to end here, and she didn't want to get in trouble for doing the rest of the song if they weren't supposed to.

Junko let the moment hang in the air for a moment, before she finally pushed herself back to her feet. "Thank you for your time." She said politely, nearly shaking with nerves. She then slowly made her way off stage, trying not to stumble in the heels she was wearing. She did it! She auditioned! And...and she didn't think it went too badly! Sure she'd nearly tripped but she was pretty sure she recovered pretty well from that, right?

((OOC Disclaimer! The file may or may not try to download itself on your computer, apparently. I apologize if it does, I tried to avoid that. XD It's just me singing Junko's audition. No visuals, only audio. And it's only 50 seconds long.))

User ImageThe idea of a MANDATORY audition for the school play was a bit unnerving for a witch who wasn't much for anything with such an imposing name, but the idea of bucking the system by auditioning for The Great Jack was just too good to pass up! So with all the excitement and drive she should have given toward her classes, Belladonna set upon piles of cloth to make the perfect Jack Meets Belladonna outfit. Of course it had come out absolutely perfectly and with a great amount of theatrics, Belladonna sauntered around backstage. Her stomach couldn't help but drop a great deal when she watched as another girl auditioned for Jack, and dear Jack she was GOOD! But the idea of hopefully performing alongside Kasumi was enough to make the witch take a deep breath and clack forward onto the stage.

She clacked because of the heels, but she felt pretty gosh darn fantastic in her outfit, complete with matching skeleton-bone socks to make her exposed legs look well, more skeletal! A pink doombox was placed by the witch near the back of the stage and she quickly whirled around to the judges.

"Hello! I'm Belladonna and I'll be auditioning for the part of Jack!" She paused, gesturing backstage quickly. "And, my cat Binx... He'll be... um... Helping!" It wasn't much, Binx would just throw some fake snow and the poor cat WAS dressed like an elf of all things, but it helped set the scene!! So with a dramatic flair Belladonna switched the doombox on and waited for the music to start.

Instead of the medium tempo song that everyone else was singing, the music that pumped from the doombox was upbeat, with a faster tempo and a good deal of guitar. The Amigos de Armor had kindly helped her prepare the background music ahead of time so now that Belladonna could flit about the stage, grabbing at pretend objects.

"What's this? What's this?!" One of the 'what's this?' was asked on one side of the stage and the other was asked on the opposite side. At this point a green hat bedecked Binx trotted mournfully across the stage. "There's color everywhere!" He scurried off as Belladonna chased after him, turning at the last moment to have her attention caught by something else. "What's this? There's white things in the air! What's this?!" Graceful hands scooped up fake snow Binx had so kindly dropped on stage for her and tossed it into the air, so that white things really were in the air and Belladonna completely avoided the thought of where she had gotten the fake snow from so that no emotion besides extreme curiosity and wonder crossed her face.

"I can't believe my eyes! I must be dreaming!" A splayed out hand was passed in front of her eyes before both hands grabbed the sides of her face, bending over a little as though shaking herself visibly. "Wake up Jake, this isn't fair!! What's this?!" With a quick snap of her head she had spotted something else and was up, dashing off across the stage to inspect something else.

The music halted after that and she turned, curtsying and clacking off the stage, scooping up her doombox on the way out. Well! That had gone well she thought! Binx hadn't said anything untoward, she had remembered all the lines and she hoped her emotion was well displayed. It wasn't hard for the witch to pretend curiosity as she naturally was. She might just figure out who that other girl who auditioned for Jack was, as she hadn't met her yet!

((Alcie will be trying out for the part of Shock.))

User ImageWhen she had heard that there was going to be a Nightmare Before Christmas play, Alcie nearly jumped out of her seat. Like every other young scareling, she was introduced to it at a young age and became enraptured with the entire thing. Even though she's grown up a bit, her love for this story has not changed. It had taken her awhile to decide on a role to try out for but she finally decided on Shock. The little rambunctious, feisty, intelligent scareling of the trouble making trio. It sounded just like herself.

As she stood at the back of the stage awaiting her turn, Alcie felt the jitters creep up on her and she was feeling a little worried that she was going to forget the lines. Oh boy... She wasn't afraid of public speaking or anything but she held high expectations for her and expected nothing less than perfect. Alcie had been studying these lines and practicing her singing every moment she could but who knew what could happen once those lights hit her.

Taking a deep breath, Alcie gathered up her confidence and stepped out onto the stage. She had requested the use of a large cage as her prop to be honest, Alcie had an idea of what she wanted to do but she really hadn't practiced it too much... Improvisation was better wasn't it? Her costume choice was obvious considering Shock's outfit was very clear. She had tried her best to replicate Shock's dress but she had a rather difficult time (thus accounting for the patchwork feel of the dress). It had taken her awhile (mostly because sewing wasn't her forte) to create the dress and the witch's hat but Alcie was very happy with the end product.

With a smile on her face, Alcie introduced herself, "I'm Alcyone and I'll be auditioning for the role of Shock." Closing her eyes just for a second, Alcyone tried to channel Shock's character and it was time to perform!

The lights dimmed and during that time, Alcie went inside the cage that was out on the stage. The lights turned back on and focused on her. Her voice was rather eerie and creepy as her voice echoed throughout the auditorium. "Kidnap the Sandy Claws, lock him up real tight." She pressed her face between the bars of the cage and tightly held onto the bars as she sang the first line. Even though her singing was only average she felt a surge of confidence and Alcyone continued on with the song.

"Throw away the key and then" Pulling a key from her pocket, Alcie tossed it to the other side of the stage nonchalantly and kept a mischievous smirk on her face. "Turn off all the lights". As she sang this line, the lines abruptly shut off and there was an ear piercing scream. After a few seconds, the lights slowly turned back on and Alcie had moved outside of the cage and stood in the middle of the stage with her hands on her hips.

Alcie's voice continued singing but more of in a story telling tone now, "First, we're going to set some bait," For this part, Alcie had prepared a plate of chocolate chip cookies. That's what Santa Claus was supposed to like right? She pulled the plate from behind the cage and placed it inside and grinned at the audience as she set the plate on the floor.

The water demon exited the cage and she addressed the audience, "Inside a nasty trap and wait,". She glanced at the trap and then began singing again, "When he comes a-sniffing we will,"

As she sang, Alcie moved over towards the cage and grabbed the rope attached to the door. "Snap the trap and close the gate!" Alcie began cackling wildly and she gave the rope a hard tug and the cage door came slamming down to a close.

Her song came to an end and Alcie smiled widely at her audience. "Thank you for your time." Bowing quickly, the water demon slipped behind the curtain. Her heart had been pounding so fast but she loved the adrenaline rush! Even if she didn't get the part, the audition had been enormous amounts of fun for her.

(( Simone trying for Sally! ))
User Image
Simone's interest had been piqued at seeing all of the notices for the mandatory school play. At first, she had been less than thrilled about having to try out for something so soon after her arrival on campus, but upon seeing what play they were going to be putting on the demon allowed herself a few moments of excited fluttering and pacing before she darted back to her dorm. The Nightmare before Xmas! It had been a favorite of hers since she was but a little scareling. She and her mother would sing together and either her brothers or a friend or two were sometimes roped into reciting scenes just because. Good times, good times.

There were so many good parts, but the role that would be getting her effort and her attention this time around would be none other than the role of Sally. Before even thinking about heading to stand before the judges, she would need a costume. Simone had a few old little numbers she could sacrifice for the sake of whipping up a costume. After some trial and error patching up of the dress, the avarice demon tried it on in front of her full length mirror. After giving it the wiggle test and some other movement trials, she dubbed it fit to go to the public. There was something missing however. A moment later, Simone had that 'Ah ha!' moment and slithered out of her creation, jogging over to her vanity to find her a stick of brand new black lipstick. Drawing on the stitches attributed to Sally, carefully so that her drawing wouldn't wear down the tip, Simone started with her face and worked her way down, skipping the parts of her that were going to be covered by the dress. To include them would be silly, not to mention a waste of lipstick. Finishing up at her ankles, she recapped the lipstick. One last touch, a splash of color for her lips, with an overcoat of balm for a hint of shine!

Slipping back into her creation, Simone pulled on some of her stripped socks and heels then headed out, pausing a few feet down the hallway. Quick check list. Full makeup? Check. Suitable outfit? Check. Pretty good knowledge of the material. Big check! She smiled, straightened up to her full height and marched her way down to where auditions were being held.

Slipping into line, Simone took the opportunity to scan the gathered collection of students who were trying out, mostly to start learning faces even if she didn't know their names yet and a small part to see who else was tryout out for Sally. The demon had arrived in time to watch a girl trying out for Jack. Interesting. She certainly seemed expressive enough. And there was another girl trying out for Shock. It seemed that she might be good for her chosen part too. The judges were going to have to

After a few anxiety building moments, the line cleared in front of her and she walked out onto the stage, chin up with a relatively relaxed look on her face. Stopping center stage, Simone looked to judges, flashing them what she hoped was a winning smile, toning down the bedroom eyes a bit, which were practically a standard for her. "Hello. My name is Simone and I'm auditioning for the part of Sally."

"Well, here goes," She thought as she moved to the right side of the stage. Taking a deep breath, Simone bowed her head slightly and began walking. "I sense there's something in the wind," She gestured with her hands, worried and slightly frustrated movements before outstretching her arms to twirl in place at 'in the wind'. She resumed her slow, sad walk. "That feels like tragedy's at hand" Simone drew her hands up, closed in loose fists, before opening them to drop as she walked.

"And thought I'd like to stand by him," The demon brought her hands up again to gesture away from herself to indicate 'him'. "Can't shake this feeling that I have." She folded her hands over her heart, her head bowed at a slight angle, brow furrowed. Slowly dropping her hands, Simone turned to face more directly to the judging panel. "The worst is just around the bend," She spread her hands as she approached the front of the stage, lifting her gaze to look directly into the judges' eyes, got to connect with the audience, after all. "And does he notice...my feelings for him? And will he see how much he means to me?" The avarice demon stopped a couple of feet back from the edge of the stage. She closed her eyes with a sorrowful dip of her head, lowering her voice to match the mood. She wrapped her arms about her waist, hugging herself as if in self consolation. "I think it's not to be..." Simone finished, letting her voice trail off slowly at the end.

A brief moment passed before she dropped her arms and straightened up again. "Well, thank you for your time, gentlemen. It is appreciated." She dipped in a slight curtsy and headed off stage. Once behind the curtain, she huffed a sigh and smiled. Well, that was that. Now it was a waiting game.

((Rain is trying for Sally))

Rain was great at playing -- and beating things -- with her guitar but she wasn't sure she would be any good at singing. Still, this was an awesome opportunity for all the students. Heck, this was a tradition that had been going on for a very long time! Of all the characters, she felt she related to Sally most so that's what she was auditioning for.

She set up her amp, plugged her guitar in and stepped out onto the stage. She wasn't even sure if she could bring a musical instrument but she was rather attached to the guitar. Besides, it would feel weird to sing without any music whatsoever.

There was one thing she didn't like about Sally. She felt that Sally lacked the anger that her hardship and disappointments should have caused. It needed more emotion and that's exactly what she was going to bring to the table. She started playing the tune on her guitar, giving the song a heavy metal twist.

"I SENSE THERE'S SOMETHING IN THE WIND
THAT FEELS LIKE TRAGEDY'S AT HAND
AND THOUGH I'D LIKE TO STAND BY HIM
CAN'T SHAKE THIS FEELING THAT I HAVE

AGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
CAN'T SHAKE THIS FEELING THAT I HAVE

THE WORST IS JUST AROUND THE BEND
AND DOES HE NOTICE MY FEELINGS FOR HIM?
AND WILL HE SEE HOW MUCH HE MEANS TO ME?
I THINK IT'S NOT TO BE

AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I THINK IT'S NOT TO

BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"

Screaming sure felt good!

Tahki looked miserable as she 'fluttered' onto stage. Her huge wings beat softly behind her and the look on her face was less then excitable. Oh she loved wearing animal pajamas but not in front of people. The very fact she was in front of people now in her zero pajama's was quite terrifying.

Though her face seemed to be frozen in an awkward annoyed scowl. The gryphoness didn't say anything for quite some time. Just frowned and fluttered.

After long awkward moments of this the gryphoness opened her mouth. "Tahki Yuki trying out for.." her voice was quite mono-toned and almost annoyed, "...Zero..." The gryphon sighed and took in a long deep breath.

"RAWWWRROOOOOOOOWFFF!"

The 'bark' came out as a cross breed between a lions rawr and a woof. Hands fond their way to Tahkis mouth and the gryphons face turned bright pink. Tahki took a quick and awkward bow and flew off set as quickly as she could.

How embarrassing.

User Image((LW is going to audition for the part of Lock))

She was hesitant to be here, auditioning. The she-wolf wasn't used to making herself stand out like so. It was bad business for someone that was a prankster at heart. But word had reached the she-wolf's ears about a play that was to happen (and rumor had it that it was 'mandatory'). And not just any play. It was the Nightmare Before Xmas play. There was just no questions needed to be asked after that. The play itself was a good enough excuse for anyone to audition for it! That in no way made it any easier to get up on the stage and actually audition.

It had been a little difficult for LW to choose which part she wanted to try out for, but come on! How could you say no to dressing up as a devil and showing that inner deviant? Lock had her name all over it. And she didn't even need to find a tail for a costume! Little devil horns could be attached to a headband and put on. And finding a red outfit shouldn't be too difficult for the she-wolf, right?

As it was, she was able to put together some sort of devil outfit just in time for the auditions. And she'd done a little homework and rehearsed the song that she would have to sing if she wanted to get the part. Of course, the she-wolf wasn't one hundred percent sure if she really wanted the part. But she could try and see what happened! Those violet eyes peeked out to look around and watch the person before her. It did nothing to help qualm her fears of getting up on stage though.

Breathing deeply and curling her tail about her feet, the she-wolf shuffled onto the stage as the previous student exited. Oh man! It was even worse actually being up there in the spotlight! Staffers were going to know her face well now. Oh Jack damnit. Ah well. Looked like there was no turning back at this point. Besides, after watching other students LW had realized this couldn't be any worse than when she danced! The she-wolf loved dancing and didn't care who in all of Halloween saw her dancing. So, keeping that in mind, she announced herself.

"Names Little-Wolfe and I'm tryin' for the part of Lock."

Now announced, she had to go through with it all. The she-wolf jumped back and landed in a crouch, tail curled up and animated in a mischievous way. Her eyes flashed and a sly grin formed.

"I've got something, listen now," she cupped a hand to her ear and gestured for her 'audience' to listen now.

"This one is real good, you'll see" LW grinned and leaped up and stood tall, gaze sweeping over all that watched her.

"We'll send a present to his door"

"Upon there'll be a note to read" the she-wolf mimed wrapping a present with a devious glint to her eyes and shuffled along the stage like she was leaving it at a door. Then she held her hand out like a sheet of paper and wrote along her palm with an invisible pen.

"Now, in the box we'll wait and hide" LW pounced towards where she'd left her invisible present at the door and crouched down like she was hiding.

"Until his curiosity entices him to look inside" this time when she jumped from the 'box' she acted as if she was nabbing something. She stood, frozen in a pose that suggested having grabbed a person, before straightening. LW bowed, mumbling a "thanks" to her watchers and promptly scampered off the stage for the next student to take her place.

Vaith sauntered on stage, taking a moment to stare at the line of judges with a frown. (What else?) He shoved his hands in his pockets, only lifting up one hand briefly to address the crowd before his view. He stared at them with a rather disinterested view.. or at least, that's what one could interpret his expression as. But there was no hesitation in his tone as he spoke up, his thumb pointing to himself, gesturing as he spoke next.

"I'm Vaith. Trying for Zero, thanks."

He shook his head and ... promptly sat. Yes, the reaper simply sat there for a full moment, leaving a variety of reactions. Befuddled, surprised, bored.. There were a lot. From behind him, a little dragon familiar flew up to cover the male up in a white sheet. His natural appearance, with reaper horns and a tail, emphasized the dog shape naturally. If.. you didn't look to closely. The ears and tail were, perhaps, a bit too pointy but hey, it could be a wolf!

Speaking of wolves...

"Woof."

With that one and only line, he stood up and walked off stage. With the sheet on.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Shehk had been disappointed. She -had- been aiming to try out for the part of Zero, but once she'd realized the school was going to prevent her from climbing up on stage in canine form as a dog with a sheet over her head, she'd had to go to plan-B.

She was already there, pinstripes were commonplace for her and..
...

well.. why should she let this opportunity die off? However, it was just the look on Arel's face that got to her...

and the fact she didn't know the words at all.. well.. she'd work around that. Somehow.

However, once she got up on stage and opened her mouth, it seemed things were going to be normal enough.

They weren't.

And honestly, Shehk didn't care. Once she was done, she took a quick bow for her audacity, before she BOOKED IT to the back of the auditorium. Good grief, where had she gotten rubbed-on to be so...well.. -rebellious-?
