He watched her, nodding. Locked inside was right...and they'd spewed forth like magma from the bowels of hell. He was a silly boy. Shaking his head with slight chagrin, he refocused on her; too late to take it back now. As her wing brushed his shoulder, he froze, watching her with ears tipping back, suddenly nervous, though he wasn't sure why.
She wasn't the first beautiful mare who'd spoken with him, or given him the time of day...but by damn, she was the prettiest. He swallowed the lump in his throat and his goofy smile returned as she blushed. He didn't look away, his hair falling into his eyes, but his ears pricked forwards at her next words.
"Life-changing decisions?" His head tipped slightly to the side, bangs falling away from his face and he pulled his angel wings closer to his body. He hoped she'd continue... "Perhaps I can help?"

"Well, for me yes.." She said and decided to share with him, since he had confided in her, it only seemed fitting.
"I was asked, to join a large herd that will be made up of smaller herds. And well, since I am nature inclided, to be Alpha of their nature portion...but do take this on, I also had to admit, I cannot do it alone." She sighed, she didnt like depending on others, burned from it in the past the only other she knew she could depend on was her brother, but he had his own family and life and she wouldn't trouble him.
"So, in admitting that I cannot, and that I want to take this role..I find myself in the aid of someone bigger, and stronger than I am on my own..A guardain of sorts." She wasn't sure if she was explaining this right. "Though, I want no stick in the mud soldier, moreso of someone who I can enjoy life with and who will shoulder the burdens with me, not treat me like some weak mare you know?"

Domovoi listened with interest, his eyes never straying from her face. The wind bustled along, ruffling his pink-and-gold feathers and he tucked them closer to his body; feathers didn't hold up like the warmth of fur, after all.
"So lemme get this straight, Niobe" he said after she stopped talking, rolling it all through his mind and getting it in order. He took a deep breath. "You've been asked to lead a portion of someone's herd? And, with the possibility of a kalona--whether he be bloodthirsty or not--stalking you, you need someone to guard you?" A soldier for the princess. He smiled at the thought. "But you want someone who can not only do his job, but do it well...without ever making you feel like just some sort of weakling." Perhaps...someone who could fight the baddiest, but perhaps without killing them. Someone like his mother.
He paused mid-thought.
Or him... His ruby red eyes widened slightly as he came to that realization. He fit her description--he was large, capable, and had the training to be a defender of the innocent... He could easily defend her, defend both of them...even with his wariness of blood. "But you're not a weak mare at all," he said softly, almost inaudibly as the warmth of a blush crept across his cheeks. "At least...I don't think so."

"Well, not only me but the herd as well, though I suppose as the herd grew more stallions and mares would be more apt to that, so well yes, I guess I would be the main one to require the protection." She admitted, though she didnt like to be a burden on anyone, and she felt that if she did find someone that fit what she was looking for, that in time they would only feel her request as that, a burden.
"Yes, but I also want this other to be a friend. Someone I could share my life with, even if it was in an unromantic way. " She was quick to add in, she didnt want anyone to think she was looking for a mate, or was mate hunting.
At his words, she smiled and felt more at ease about sharing her problem with him. "Thanks, Domovoi." She said as she shook back her mane, she definitely felt at ease around him, it was nice.

A friend. Domovoi shifted his weight, long tail flicking to the side as he considered that: he didn't have very many. Okay, beyond his sister--who he didn't adore all that much, to be completely honest--he had no lasting friends... But then again, he'd never really looked. He'd always considered himself a loner...but...there was that nagging need for companionship, always. Come to think of it, he hadn't felt that feeling since he'd started talking with Niobe.
"Of course not," he assured her, a goofy smile plastered on his face. "But someone you can be yourself with, at ease with. Someone you don't have to worry about looking like a fool in front of, yeah?" He tipped his head to the side gently, his mane creeping across his gaze.
He paused, maybe a little dramatically, then looked her in the eye. "Well... I must say, Miss Niobe... I have the size, the wings, and the training..." A small blush, a wide grin. "And I could use the companionship. And maybe it would make Mom happy, to know that her son is fulfilling a role in life. Maybe not -killing- the badguys, but...you know. Keepin' them at bay!"

Him?! She stared at him openly, but as she thought of all the reasons to tell him no, that she couldnt ask this of him. That he was to young to waste his life.
"You would take this on Domovoi?" she asked him seriously, this was something of great importance, and not something that should be jumped into lightly. Though, she had to admit to herself, that she liked the idea of it being him.
"Though, Id rather no one be killed unless it was the last resort." She said with a firm nod of her head. "But, I would be happy to have you, if its what you really want to do." She nodded her head, she could definitely see things go well with him.

He watched the emotion play across her face with a small smile on his, ears pricked forwards, intent on the black and pink mare in front of him. He could see them being friends; hell, he'd already shared his life story with her and she'd not blinked an eye or judged him... And she was trusting him with her problems, too. And they'd just met -- think about months spent together would grant. He smiled.
"I would," he said. "I'm not as big as my mother, but I'm as big as most stallions and bigger than a normal flutter. And I'm strong--Mom's made sure of that." He thought of the training they'd done together, the miles upon miles of running and the sparring that would make him ache for days when he was out of shape. Even now, time spent away from his mother, he kept up his muscle-tone. He'd done it to keep busy before--maybe he had a reason for it all along. Fate? Destiny? Perhaps he would start believing it.
"No worries," he chuckled lightly. "I'd rather not kill if I didn't have to... If we're being honest? Blood makes me a little dizzy in the head if there's too much! But I wouldn't hesitate if they were trying to kill you." His voice rang sincere, solemn.

She gave a soft laugh at his comment of being bigger than most, and smiled. "Well, your definitely bigger than me." She said with a smile and and chuckle. "Though never let that fool you.." She winked and shook out her mane.
At his mention of blood making his head woozy but was quiet taken back by the rest of his sentence. He would kill for her. Why was her life worth anothers? She wasnt sure about that, and really hoped that it never came downt to that, because she wasnt sure she had the right to ever ask another to kill.
"Well, it seems you've found a middle ground for what your mother wants of you, and of what you want for life." She smiled and nodded her head.

He flicked his ruby-hued tail and smiled. "Don't worry, Niobe," he said softly. "I won't." He'd been raised to respect women, especially ones that could join you in flight. Mother had done plenty of preaching. She didn't exactly believe that wings were -better- rather than, if you tied yourself to a wingless mate, they would never be able to join you in the air, which could be wonderful. Domovoi pondered taking a flight with Niobe sometime and smiled gently.
"It seems I have. She'll be pleased that I'll have responsibility...and that I'm keeping the 'innocent' safe from the 'evils' of the world. Heck, a whole herd of innocents, even." He laughed brightly, eyes creasing in mirth, but grew serious once more. "Niobe. I need to find my family and tell them where I'll be. Could I meet you somewhere once I've told them? I don't want them to worry." Especially not Dad, who could be a bit eccentric. Oberon would probably think his son had been kidnapped by the Unseelie Court or something. Domo almost chuckled at the thought.

Niobe grinned up at him, and shook her head with a laugh. "Im going to keep you on your hooves." she said with a nod.
But as he spoke of his family, her mind turned to hers. It was time she told them as well, she glanced around and then back up at him, oddly enough she didnt want to part just yet, but understood the need to. "Well, in about 2 weeks time spring should start its hold on the land..follow the blooming flowers." she said with a wink and a smile.
"Until then Domovoi!" And with that, she shrunk into her butterfly size, and fluttered away on the breeze.
