The star studded vampire smiled, showing his fangs. "Amusing? I believe that is a challenge, my dear." He moved to kiss her neck. "Let me show you the wonders of the love bite!"
Cade rolled his eyes at his father. "I really don't need to see this or hear this."
"Me either." Zeke made a chocking motion at his half brother and grabbed for Ketra. "Let's go Ket. Don't want you going any more drama queen on us."

Io shook his head in disgust and turned, trying to leave solemnly before he could be stopped, hoping Ketra would go in a different direction.
"You Think you can amuse me more than they could?" Lilly taunted.

"Hm...no good..." He scrunched his eyebrows together, thinking hard. "How about this?" He traced a hoof down her side and used the other one to tangle in her hair as he tilted her neck so that he could nibble on the curve there easier.

"Oh...you don't want me to leave? But I'm really not doing anything for you...Just making a fool of myself..." It was hard for him to keep a straight face. Apparently she couldn't handle her own tactics.

"Didn't know you were the sort to give up so easily," she said, using the tartness to hide that she was bracing herself for a broken heart. Was he really going to just.. leave her? Was she right way back when, to keep herself isolated and alone, to use others just for amusement?

He couldn't keep up the act anymore. "My dear, your little amount of faith in me is somewhat disturbing." Universe leaned in and kissed her. "I don't want to leave you. I don't plan on leaving you. Every now and again though, you've got to give me something to work with." He nuzzled her neck, "I can't always be the one who has to work so hard for your affection."

She buried his face in his mane, trying not to cry, trying not to let him know how shaken she had been. How could she ever tell him it was herself she had no faith in. She still had trouble believing him when he told her she was worth loving. She knew who or what she was, or at least she had once. She had no clue, these days.
And if she really was being fair, nothing she ever cared about being before, he was right, she should have to work too...but she had no clue HOW. This was not anything that had been part of her life before him. What was she supposed to do? How was she supposed to work so that he wouldn't ever see that there really was nothing below her surface?
