Tamo accepted the gesture of affectionate apology, and returned it while a gentle smile of his own.
"I did, actually," he said, taking stock of his muscles. They still had that slightly heavy feeling of just waking up, but they weren't stiff at least and a bit of moving about would remedy the heaviness quite easily.
"And you," Tamo asked, looking Cao over. The other male seemed to be quite fresh, especially in comparion with the sluggishness he was probably still exhibiting. It was almost embarassing, he must look so lazy in comparison. But it was something that he'd always done, so he was able to curb the blush before it had a chance to really set in.

"I did as well," Caolan replied.
He could see that Tamotsu was still sluggish and not wholly awake, but didn't comment on it: he knew that his upbringing--being forced to wake up at dawn--was the exception, not the rule.
"What do you want to do now?" he asked.
((I think we should figure out where this is going: we need to think of something that will make them admit their ~undying lurve~ *brick'd* for each other, but what? XD ))

Tamo hummed under his breath as he thought. "Perhaps just walk around? View the mountain and see if there's any good places to take shelter in. I think that was our original goal, and that coming to this forested area was just to get a feel for the lay of the land."
It was a fine, brisk morning as well, and Tamo certainly wasn't opposed to just walking. If they got hungry he was sure they could find something around the mountains, if only plants or small game.

Caolan nodded; that had indeed been their original goal.
"I found a good cave last night," he informed Tamotsu, and began to lead the way back to where he had stayed. The area seemed like the perfect place for Caolan: desolate, deserted, without another fox (besides Tamotsu) for miles and miles. He wondered if Tamotsu felt the same way; if the orange fox would want to live here as well.

Tamo gave a nod of his own and smiled. "Then why don't you lead the way and show me the cave you found. Where there's one there's bound to be others, so even if we decide against it in the end I bet there's a least a couple more options to choose from."
He moved to stand next to Caolan and lightly brushed his shoulder against the smaller males, looking at him expectantly with surprisingly warm black eyes.

Caolan automatically shied away from the touch, but then relaxed again, when his rational brain reminded him it was just Tamotsu. He wasn't used to being touched, and even less accustomed to being touched in an affectionate way. His older sister trying to get under his skin by poking and prodding at him; his mother bodily picking him up and moving him around, since she somehow seemed to both over- and underestimate how capable kits were... Dervla was the only member of his immediate family whom he really knew (as Caolan had never seen any reason to seek out his three siblings who had grown up with his father), and whom he got along somewhat decently with.
Instead of apologizing for backing away, Caolan brushed Tamotsu in return, letting his actions speak for him, rather than his words.
He led the way back to the cave where he had stayed, one of many that riddled the base of a mountain. It was the definitely the best of those in the immediate area--large enough for a fox to enter and turn around in, but small enough that it kept his body heat close to his body so that not much was lost to the surrounding air, as well as with a definite end, so there was no risk of something creeping up on him from deeper in the mountain in the middle of the night. None of the rest of the openings fit all of those criteria. Mostly, they were far too small for even a kit to squeeze into, although there were a few that were quite large, and disappeared deeper into the mountain.
Perhaps one day Caolan would explore those, to make sure he wouldn't be sharing his new home with a bear, or anything else dangerous. He had little desire to explore for exploration's sake; he wasn't his mother.
Caolan led Tamotsu to the cave he had spent the night in, and waited for the other male to make his move--if he wanted to investigate Caolan's cave, or look about at the surroundings, or anything else.

Tamotsu wasn't hurt when Caolan moved away from him. He knew the male was naturally reclusive and not at all social. Usually that involved a discomfort with touch. What did come as a surprise though (and a touch of thrill), was when Caolan actually moved to brush against him as well.
Since he was behind Caolan the male didn't see him grinning like a fool, but perhaps that was for the best as well.
He looked around at the mountain with interest as they approached, watching the scenery and making note of the other various crevices along the way before they finally stopped in front of the cave Caolan had been leading them to.
Tamotsu approached the crevice and wiggled inside to look around. "Little small," he said, head popping out of the crevice. "If you want to share we'd be squished up together." He tilted his head. "That alright?"
