"Yes, they were at the Ball, too, I heard." Another uncomfortable shift in position, complete with a frown. Quick, how to mask her discomfort, uhh.. Oh! "I can't help but wonder why they insist on interfering with us, it's ridiculous." There, that should be acceptable.
Oh, the egg, yes. "I also heard that it fell into the lava.. I'm not sure how anyone managed to get it out from there, but they did." Something about fire-types? Could they actually go in lava..? And survive...? It seemed a bit far-fetched of an idea, but stranger things have happened.. Like Galactic suddenly feeling the need to show up and throw a mankey wrench into Team Rocket's plans.

"It certainly is," she said with an indignant 'humph.' "They'll regret provoking us once we've razed their base." As she was certain Rocket would. It wasn't unlikely that they were already in the process of seeking out Galactic's base of operations; in fact, it was unlikely that they weren't. The elites were skilled, and Aila was sure that they would make short work of the whole ordeal.
"Into the lava?" She blinked in surprise. "I wasn't aware of that... That's amazing. Leaves you to wonder just what the things are made of..." Certainly not all pokemon eggs could withstand such temperatures. What made the shell of a Ho-Oh's egg so special?

Her elbow was resting on the arm of the chair, her slim fingers hiding her mouth as she frowned at the bed. At Aila's comment about razing their base, her mouth formed an 'o' of surprise, eyebrows raising a bit. She certainly hadn't though of anything like that. Oh Arceus, she hoped to high heaven she wasn't picked for that mission... "Indeed."
"I've no idea," she said after a pause, brows knitted again. "I guess because it was a Ho-oh egg, it would have to be able to withstand such temperatures. I've no idea how they got it out successfully, either. I heard mention of fire-types or something, but how could they survive those temperatures..?" Maybe because they were fire-types and had the ability to breath fire at will, they had to have internal temperatures of several hundred degrees anyway.. Hm. It was something interesting to think about, in any case.

"Hm. There were a few fire-types amongst us, and when we arrived at the nest site there was a pair of Charizard near the lava. I suppose it's not impossible that we sent them diving..." As a trainer to a grass-type and two steel-types, Aila had felt increasingly useless on that mission. Having lost consciousness shortly after sending Fleur forward, she could only hope that the Venusaur had done at least some good. A thought struck her, or rather, a curiosity, "Do you know if many others were injured?"

She frowned as well - she had been doing that a lot today - and set her mind to puzzling out the fire-types in the lava to keep her thoughts away from Galactic. It still seemed odd that anything could survive in lava... It was lava, after all, but then again, perhaps fire-types would be able to... Maybe non-furry ones. She had a feeling any furry fire-type that jumped into lava would come out bald. ...it was an amusing thought.
"Ah?" Oh, anyone else. "I don't know anyone else that went on the mission, so I couldn't say. I'm certain others were injured, there's always at least a few that get hurt in every raid, it seems." They were dangerous, after all. It would be nice if no one did, but that was pretty much an impossibility.

"Ah. Hm." Aila had an increasing worry that she was the only person who had been injured on raid - bleeding in front of the agents and elites, so disgraceful... Claire's offhanded observation of how frequently injuries occurred on missions did little to assuage this worry.
"Well, I suppose I can bear with it since we were able to retrieve the egg..." She would be able to bear it more wholeheartedly if they had been able to retrieve the Ho-Oh, of course, even more so if her injury had furthered the completion of their goal. She couldn't help but cringe at the thought. She might as well have stayed at the base if she was just going to be knocked out halfway through...

"At least it wasn't a total loss," she pointed out, though wholeheartedly agreed. She had berated herself for weeks about her poor performance during the field training mission in which she caught a full team of Pidgey. "Granted it would have been infinitely better if Galactic hadn't shown up and stole it, but we can't do much about it for the time being." Maybe eventually, in a mission she wanted no part in.
Zeus was still fervently searching for the offending Thing. He would not stop until it was found and destroyed.

She gave another quiet 'humph,' moving to cross her arms in annoyance before remembering that her left was unresponsive. "If I could move from this bed, I would have lined up for that mission yesterday." She couldn't imagine any of the Rockets would be willing to forgive and forget, especially those who had been on the missions Galactic had interrupted.
A pair of large, dark eyes peered out from the darkness between the bed's headboard and the wall. When were these people planning to leave...?

"People can sign up for it?" She asked suddenly, eyebrows raising in surprise. That meant she wouldn't get picked for it, so she didn't have to worry about... oh. Oh. "Oh, hypothetically speaking, of course. I'm sure they're working on trying to find out the exact location now, though I don't know how soon they'll find it." It did relocate fairly frequently. It was always an annoying process.
The artificial shiny growled in frustration before giving up on the other corners of the room. With a huff he flopped down on the floor near his owner, glaring suspiciously under the bed. How did it escape him..? Where had it gone? It couldn't have gone far, or they would have seen it scuttling around.. Bah. Evil Thing.

"Ah, I think so? I know the majority of the participating agents are specifically chosen for their skills or knowledge, but I believe volunteers with the right qualifications are accepted as well." She tilted her head slightly, an eyebrow slightly raised. "Why? Is there a mission you want to participate in?"
Round eyes disappeared and reappeared as their owner blinked at the Pikachu's surrender. Surrender was good. Leaving would be better. It watched and waited from its nook.

....crap, that meant she could still be chosen. And probably would be, because she had been in Galactic and they'd think she knew more about it and crap. Not good. But she simply shrugged at the question. "I'd love to participate in any mission in order to put my skills to use, and I suppose.. to prove myself, I guess," she finished with half-shrug. It was true, of course, for most missions - except anything that could be related to Galactic, or any that might involve them in any way. Arceus, she did not want to have any part in those.
Unfortunately for the Thing, Zeus wasn't one to give in for very long, he was much too stubborn. He growled again, and set about exploring under the bed once more. How had it disappeared from under here without anyone seeing it? Maybe if he studied it more he could figure out its disappearing trick, so he started sniffing around the under-side of the bed, beginning at the foot of it.

"I can understand the sentiment," she said, nodding slightly. "That's part of the reason I chose to join Rocket myself." A consistent opportunity to steal and infiltrate with meaningful results had indeed been a strong pulling factor, especially when added to various other opportunities, one of which she had already blown once in the previous mission. That had been a blatant lapse in judgment.
The dimly reflective orbs receded slightly further into the bed's shadow and slightly higher from the floor. Why was the little yellow thing so persistent?

She nodded as well, glad she took the bait. Claire had no intentions of talking about her relationship to Galactic today. ...she also had no intentions of talking to Aila at all today, considering they weren't good friends or anything of the sort, but it was funny how life threw such little curve-balls. "Is it?" She asked curiously, reaching a hand up to tuck a lock of black hair behind her ear. "If you don't mind my asking, why did you join?"
Zeus was slowly making his way towards the head of the bed - the bottom of it, of course - avoiding the mangled web of strings and crap that had been unceremoniously shot into his face before. He would find the Thing and then he would destroy it. How dare it avoid him for so long! He would hunt it until it was found, and then he would kill it personally. Kill it dead.

Hm, well, it was obvious from the mission at the PokeBall that her intentions were less than pure - at least to those who had witnessed it, and to those who might have heard it mentioned from others - and so Aila saw little point in withholding her purpose. "I joined for the opportunity to kill my brother. Though now..." Though now it was such a difficult task to even think about. She had no will to carry out the murder except through what little she received from her promise to her mother. Her expression wavered with a distinct lack of resolve.
The round circles were partially eclipsed by what could have been sad or frightened eyelids, and their owner turned to face the bedside table. A quick burst of String Shot shot out from the dark crevice, striking the pokeball that sat on the table and causing it to topple to the floor where the release switch was struck. The result was a very flustered Pidgeotto certain its human was in immediate danger.
"Geotto!" It surveyed the room quickly-- Ah! Enemy detected! Gui moved to place himself in front of the Pikachu, disregarding all type differences and the confused shouts of his trainer.

All memories of the PokeBall had been pushed to the back of her thoughts, so she didn't remember seeing Aila or the small girl with the same name. She frowned slightly, curious about why she'd want to kill her own brother. "Are you having second thoughts..?" She asked in a more gentle tone, not sure about her reasons for wanting to kill him in the first place. Granted, she would have loved to murder her own sister, but that was more of a sibling thing than a real desire.
And then suddenly another String Shot exploded (not really) from somewhere and it made Claire jump when the Pidgeotto appeared. "Wha--?"
The Pikachu completely ignored the bird and scurried further under the bed, towards the headboard. The Thing was here!! It had to be! The attack had come from somewhere behind the bed or something, he saw it! It couldn't have come from anywhere else and it was there and he was going to freaking kill it.
