Riley's stomach clenched painfully when she heard Lizzy's voice. She shouldn't have been surprised to hear it, if she found herself alive as well - but it still hurt in a strange, good kind of way. Riley's body tilted dangerously backwards as Lizzy lunged for the ghouls, pulling them out of the group hug to have a femme moment. Riley's arms wrapped around Lizzy, feeling the warmth and life within them for a moment to solidify her existence.

You had me worried there for a second. Riley whispered into Lizzy's mind, giving her a quick wink as she brushed the ghouls hair with one hand. She felt like she hardly knew Lizzy, and that sudden reality seemed to slap her in the face. Before disentangling herself to return to the larger groups continued hug, Riley whispered one last thing to her new friend.

You and me. Let's have a chat later. She reached down and squeezed the ghouls hand, then fell slowly back into the boils enveloped arms that hadn't quite let her go just yet.

Sin had gone through the portal so fast she hadn't realized that students she feared lost forever had luckily been saved at the last second. Still her mind was reeling, she was shocked, and everything still hurt. She moved off to one side her arms wrapped tight around herself as she watched. Alive...they were alive...Junko and Riley...and others returning. She managed a smile, faint but genuine and then turned her gaze back to the portal.

She wanted a certain someone, she needed to see them alive, but he hadn't come through yet. Sin was terrified still, and while everyone was hugging and kissing and crying...and happy she couldn't be. She just stood shaking slightly and trying to keep a firm grip on her emotions. This wasn't the time nor the place, she tried to imitate her mother instead. Calm, casual even in the face of such an ordeal. Her mother...she would call her the second she got back to her dorm room...which would be soon. Soon just as soon as she saw him come through alive...

Her arms ached to hug her friends, to tell them how afraid she had been, to promise she would be there for them. She busied herself with pushing her hair back trying to turn the wild strands back into the beautiful updo they had started in so long ago. Show composure Sin, Jack damn it's not like it's over yet.

Everyone was so happy to be back, but Sin was still scared, still traumatized. Those portals had appeared on school grounds before, what if this wasn't done? She would save her rejoicing for when the Headmistress announced that everything had been handled, that they had succeeded, that they were safe.

With a un-ceremonial stumble and a trip, Astra rolled out of the portal and laid there in a daze on the ground. Her mind still somewhere back on that evil island were there was reapers trying to kill everyone, huge dragons flaming her, evil jericho's flaming her, and then everyone just being slaughtered. And then teachers giving her detention for it, like it was her fault.

Eventually, she sat up again, and looked about to find...

everyone was here

everyone

....Okay, that was it. her brain was fried. She was still seriously injured and had just been through hell and back. How old was she? who cared. How did everyone get back? A answer she probably knew but couldn't think of it. The only thing she could do now, was sit there and cry and wail like a baby. Jack it all, she wanted to be wack everyone who was involved in this jack forsaken trip with her staff and then shrink them to the size of a bug and stuff them into jars

but above all, she wanted a hug.

Sarias was just getting use to the view of the island. The children didn’t talk, there was no pain, no hunger, no LW!. A ghoul could get use to this - even if it did feel so very, very empty. But what the hell! She had done this before, that very first time. Before she was called back ghost she had to wait she could do that again couldn’t she? But…how long would she wait? Before it had been so long, so long and she was tired of waiting. She wanted to let go now. She was tired.

“Let me go home”

Her mind grabbed handfuls of thoughts that were running free with every second that passed. Hours consumed her and with the quickening of time she was losing her self once again. The same with what happened before; she would no longer remember the students, friends and enemies she had made in this un-life time. She would be something new again. Maybe even reborn? Would she like that? She didn’t think so. She had been happy, surprising yes, but she had been. She had so much left to do, to accomplish to achieve and now…

“Let me go home”

The familiar tug pulled at her, like a rope wrapped around her middle at the back pulling her through herself. Like a black hole she started to consume herself, although there wasn’t anything to consume she felt her arms and legs folding in on themselves, crushed between the forces that dragged her back. Was it happening already? Was her conscious ending? Would she truly die now? Or did she need to go back? Was she finished?

“Let me go home”

So many questions. Why was death like this? Why couldn’t she just be at peace? She so wanted that, she was so tired, so tired and yet…

“Icky…

…let me go home”

****

“Uhhhh and the after taste…for ******** sake…” Sarias, ever graceful, was alive. Currently face down in raising sea water she had been thrown out of the portal like a rag doll landing some distance down the beach. Even death didn’t want her…not yet. Her skull pin reactivated as soon as she had escaped the portal mouth and her face had the pleasant feeling of slightly off sea water lapping at her nose. But she was alive.

Pushing herself up she looked around, her non-existent heart skipping a beat as she saw Mei, alive and well, others seem to be congratulating, crying. So many students lost and they were all here. Walking up to the gathering group she stood to one side, one hand placed roughly on her hip, the other expecting her nails as if she didn’t give a hoot.

“Please, all this sentimental crap is making me sick, lets not have the first thing I experience back in this dimension be nausea, ok?” She gave each one a stony stare, her eyes crisp and red like the light had never faded. Her sweeping look finally landing on Riley and she grimaced looking her up and down and with all her power, all her self will, smiled and meant it.

“But I can’t tell you how jacking happy I am to see your stupid face ghoul, and yours” she stated to the next person – “and yours” even Junko got a mention. Finishing on the last person, because every person had to be mentioned, she looked down past them all to the others.

“What happens next…”

Sitting on that beach with only the occasional company from passing students had been, without a shadow of a doubt, nightmarish. Being alone would have been bad enough, but when coupled with the intermittent flare up of phobia inspired vision or cruelly murmured lies whispered n the curve of her ear it had been utterly traumatic. By the time two figured emerged from the f** to make their way to the sizzling, smoking portal she had shrunk down into a curled little wreck on the sand. Knuckles molten from the grip she had on her own sides where arms crossed like a shield across her abdomen.

She had watched, in what started as abject horror, as the two began banging and mucking about with the portal. Terrified of what they were doing, more terrified that they'd see her. So scared in fact she'd bitten her lip to keep from making a noise, crawling painfully away from the glow of the fire to hide on the edge of shadow beside the raise of a dune. Practically flattened against the cold sand beneath her as wide eyes stayed glued on the portal.

That was the way out right? The way home? That's where Demi had come from, and others. What were they doing to it? At first she had to assume they were further crippling it. Breaking it beyond any hope of repair so they would be hopelessly stranded. And then the faint blue glow flickered, flashing brighter for a moment before fading again. The sparking slowed to a sizzling halt and the smoke billowing up from device thinned before curling off into nothing. They.. they were fixing it?! Why would they do that?! With a last solid bang and echoed curse the glow returned to something of it's former glory, and after admiring their work the two departed.

For a time it was quiet again. The silence riding the air almost heavy enough to suffocate under. The murmur of voices even began to trickle back on the edge of her mind, an she shook her head fiercely before burying her face in the palms of her hand. Not again not again not again. She repeated it in her mind, over and over. A constant mantra to drown out anything else, and so successful she almost missed the sounds of voices and shuffling bodies moving along the beach. With a tense cringe the djinn recoiled from the noise, at first, before lifting her head to peek though dark fingers, and the sight that met was enough to stop her heart in her chest, steal the air from her lungs. They were back! THEY WERE BACK!

She watched in stunned awe as students began to emerge from the fog, shuffling into the portal, and with the sight of the faculty looming among them, Yaya was sure they were heading home. Home! For a moment she couldn't even move, the relief of it leaving her numb, boneless. Then, very carefully, she got to her feet. Limping forward to stumble against a random body shuffling along in that long line. Apologizing and clinging to them for balance and support as they moved ever closer to the portal.

She had thought.. Had she seen a glimpse of acid green? A halo of blonde? "Sharra.." I'm coming. I'm coming, please wait!"

At last she and her crutch made it through, and the lurch of appearing back on the grounds of the academy was enough to send her to her knees. The impact sending a painful little shock up the line of her thighs, but she was home. Pain was trivial, she didn't care, she had made it back, they were safe. Oh Jack they were safe.

With a start she jerked her head back up, searching the crowd of emerging students, searching for that monstrous arm, those lovely, poisonous eyes. Where was he? "Sharra!" She needed to see him, now. Needed to know he was alright. Needed to melt into his arms and never again let him go. "SHARRA!"

He was getting rather tired of falling, gravity should be nicer to demon dogs.

Damien was tumbling out of the portal and simply just sat there on the ground. It wasn't sand, or air, or bloodstained wood, just regular ground. He had to hold back his urge to kiss the floor. He made it back from the island. Everyone made it back, that part of it was over. It was like a horrible weight was released from on top of him.

He sprung up from the floor and checked to see if it was real, by pinching himself, the sharp twinge of pain proving that it was indeed, not an adverse effect from lingering "fog". "We're back." he said softly, partly to check to see if his voice was still there, more so to prove to himself that it was true.

His eyes roamed around to see the faces of everyone who came before him, crying, happy to shock and disbelief. But there were faces that were still missing, faces of the people he met along the way, that helped him and Damien would not leave his spot until he saw them again. He would not budge one millimeter until they were home.

"You guys had better be safe too.."

Arachne untangled herself from the hugging in time to see that another few students had turned up, one of them being Sin. She hurried over, looking around for Rosciel, and like Sepheran he too didn't see to be there yet.

She put a hand on the ghoul's arm and then hugged her, murmuring;
'I'm glad you're okay. I'm sure he is too.'

After all, Riley had seemed to die in a horrible, and final way, and although she hadn't seen it, Lizzy must have to. And they were both here, healthy and whole.

Oh Jack, this entire trip had been nothing but a horrible, terrible, traumatic experience and all the manananggal wanted to do was be with her friends. She hoped they were alright. After hearing all those voices and seeing all those images, those horrible, gruesome, blood-wasting images, Tess was hard pressed not to rip her hair out from worry. The only thing keeping her grounded (in a manner of speaking) was that she had Amrita with her.

When the resurrection portal died on them, things went from bad to worse for Tess because if those visions she'd seen had been real then she'd never see her friends again! So when the staff arrived and set to work on fixing the portal, the winged ghoul practically lit up with hope and hugged her undead friend as tight as she could.

But when the students who'd left to explore the island came back, she couldn't help but wonder why their expressions were so solemn. No, not really, she didn't wonder. She was in denial because their numbers were so few and she was able to put two and two together. And what's worse, she didn't see Lizzy among them.

But when the portal was fixed and released the black cloud to form the rest of the students, it seemed all was right again. Holding tightly to the vetala's backward, she pulled them through the portal and saw hugging. And most importantly, "Lizzy!!!!!!" she practically screeched, tugging Amrita along towards the group to join in on the hug.

---------------------------------

Everyone made it and that was cause for celebration. It didn't make the pain of having seen them die in the first place go away. It still gnawed away at him. It was likely to always gnaw away at him but he'll deal with it.

Somehow.

Petro had seen the invitation from Lizzy, but all he could do was give the pink-haired demoness a small smile of relief. He didn't think he should be there. He'd been nothing but dead weight to the group. He'd held them back. Delayed them. He should have done more even if he didn't know exactly what he should have -could have- done at the time. But rather than dwelling on his shortcomings, he limped over towards Astra and offered her a hand.

"Glad to see y're okay. Think Lizzy'd want y' to join the hug," his eyes were gentle even if there was no smile on his lips.

Carthusia was still reeling in shock from it all, watching student after student die and disappear, through the lab, through the death march tunnel of blood and dismemberment... it was all too much. Before she knew what was happening, she had walked herself down to the beach, down to the portal where miraculously, those she had seen fall were back in the land of the living, talking, hugging, crying to each other. Pride didn't know what to say. The only thing still ringing in her ears were the sounds of blades and last words uttered by the last breath she thought they would take. But now they all faced detention.

Who cared, though?

Stepping forward, Carry looked for anyone she recognized - Bella, LW, Calder, Christof, Sammy, Siddie... oh Jack, Riley and that dragon kid, they all died together too. Since she couldn't find anyone in particular, Carry addressed the entire group. Tears streamed down her face and she fought to keep her voice steady. "I... I am... so glad you're...alright. All of you..." and she sank to her knees, quietly sobbing in relief. Thank Jack. Thank Jack. Thank Jack.

It had all happened in an instant, his world (such as it was) reeling, falling, and then, darkness gave way to light, voice, and he was...

Wait, he was dead, wasn't he? He was sure he had died, and yet he was here. Sheridan dared to open his eyes, gaze falling first on the familiar sight of Ammityville Academy, and then the other students around him, Riley, Aksaja, Jericho, they were all there. But how...

He was alive? Really alive? He looked up, oh thank god, the stars. The stars! How long had it been since he had seen those glorious lights in the sky. There was no more island, no more fog, only a beautiful sky and beautiful land. Oh he'd never have thought he'd be so happy to be at -school-.

His wings spread, a snap of his tail, he lifted his head to the sky and ROARED! They had made it home, they were alive, oh how good it felt to be alive!

"I thought I would be gone forever, actually," She sent a mental thought to Riley as she smiled sheepishly, "I am glad to see you safe... And sure, let's!" Riley's invitation did surprise her, but they had just gone through something terrible together! That made them sort of friends!

---

"Arachne~" She giggled, holding hold ghouls closer as she patted them on their backs; it felt nice to be able to call out to each other. It was frightening when she was nothing but a mass of FEAR particles floating above the island... There were those children (whatever happened to them), but... Nobody to talk to. Here, it was warm... Comforting. She had never been so happy to see a friend before.

As Arachne left to take care of other friends, she left Mandy as well, allowing the ghoul to have some alone time.

"T-TESS, AMRITA." Her eyes widened, as she started to tear up again. There was a wide, goofy grin on her face as she threw herself at the two ghouls, pulling them into a tight hug like they did before the boat trip that took them to that horrible island. The way they smell (uh, yeah), the awkward way she had to put her arms around them due to their height differences... It was so familiar. So welcoming. She never want to let go again.

"I missed the both of you so, so much," She whined, using the back of her hand to wipe at her tears before reluctantly letting go to look at the both of them - safe and sound, in one piece... Patting Amrita on her head (one more regret off that list!), she shivered as she held the hands of both ghouls, remembering how terrible her hallucinations had been... She was so glad it was all over now, although a part of her felt... Unsatisfied at this ending.

"I love you both," She pouted, pulling them into another group hug before looking over in Petro's direction and realizing that he had gone to Astra's side. She pulled both ghouls over, gave Astra a gentle hug and slightly awkward pat on the head, before turning to the boil and giving his arm a quick hug since he was not dressed, uh, appropriately for the occasion.

"Petro! You're safe!" She heaved a sigh of relief.

Nothingness begot substance, and with that returned feeling and realization. He could feel the coolness of sand against his bare chest, between the fingers that curled down, into that welcome, camp chill. It was real, it was real! And yet, he didn't want to move, didn't want to breath. Afraid to shatter it, as if the faintest twitch might send him back to the hopeless oblivion that had plagued him.

And with that thought came a question, multiple questions. How had he come to be laying on the beach, and how long had he been there? Almost reluctantly he drew his first breath, releasing it in a slow, sound groan as he managed to lift himself upward on hands and knees. Head shaking to clear the remnants of a headache at throbbed behind one squinting eye. He felt like he'd been hit by a truck.. No, fallen. That was probably closer to the truth.

Really, then when and why didn't matter so much. Not when he stopped to consider the fact that he was alive. Well, relatively. He was back to his current state of spectral undeath.

Getting slowly to his feet, a hand snaking back through ruffled hair to press fingers in a percussive line along the back of his neck, he trained his half lidded gaze on the glow of the portal and made his slow approach for it.

Emerging from the blue glow, the first thing the ghost saw was the backs of his own eyelids. Squinting away from the brightness before blinking, in relief, at the cluster of students milling about. Sarias Blue hair caught his attention first, and he reached out to the ghoul. Catching her arm and pulling him back into brief, though tight hug. Sentiment be damned, watching her fall had been.. Awful. He let her go quickly though, smiling down at her with a mix of relief and worry before giving her shoulder a squeeze and moving past her into the fog. There was someone he had to find. Well, there was a few someones, but one name was written in bold across the top of his list, and he had to find her.

He spotted her in a group of others, some he knew and some he didn't, but it didn't matter. The sight of her, smiling, happy in the arms of her friends, was enough to catch his breath in his throat, and he was running before he knew it. Catching the ghoul up in shaking hands to pull her gently from the others and back against him. Sweeping the ghoul clear off her feet to swing her up into his arms. Cool lips stealing taste of familiar heat before she'd even have a chance to react. Her name whispered against her own mouth as he held her. Kiss breaking only so he could press his cooler cheek to her's. He had thought, alone in that endless oblivion of awareness, that he would never see her again, and that thought had been nigh unbearable.

From the Aether, Jericho found himself plummeting. He didn't care what was going on.. it didn't matter at this point. That is, until he felt dirt and grass below him as he was shoved through a portal and onto the ground. The dragon's eyes snapped open, and saw the world of Halloween around him once again. The voices of the other students could be heard nearby as well.

Confusion flooded him as he was certain he was supposed to be dead right about now. Slowly, he pushed himself to his feet and felt his heart jump as he saw everyone gathered around. The people who had survived as well as those he had seen die were all here. He was stunned.

The island and its damn fog was gone, and they were all home..

Further back, he saw Riley, Lizzy, Aksaja, Sharra and a few others all in an embrace. He faltered for the moment, as his mind flashed to the moments of death. Seeing Sharra impaled, Lizzy incinerated... the feel of Riley's and Malodore's hands before he was gone as well. Shaking his head to try and rid these images, he came barreling through the crowd so he could wrap his arms around them.

"We're alive..." he said as his voice wavered, "We're alive...."

Amrita wasn't much of a help when it came to keeping Tess 'grounded'. She worried and fretted and nearly burst into tears on several occasions; they were taking so long why were they taking so long where were they she wanted Lizzy aaaaaaa~

Thankfully, she had Tess and Tahki with her, and a few stragglers that sometimes wandered nearby to comfort them. A lot of drawings in the sand and several unhappy games of eye spy later, and they were home! Thank Jack they were home! She was being crushed in a Tess-Hug, but they were home! YEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS~

Now all that was left was to find Li---

Amrita looked surprised when she was tugged along, and then felt someone grab and cling to her, and again when someone pat her on the head, murmuring her name and being all happy about it. It was a lot of sudden movements and noises for the Vetala to process, but when she realized she should, she looked up.

Oh, there she was!

"LIZZY!" She cried out, clinging to the ghoul in a near-koala grip. The little Vetala started to sob all over again, but it was with joy and relief this time. As always, she stayed glued to the Demoness, but this time she grabbed Tahki and pulled her along, too. NO ONE WAS GOING TO BE LEFT BEHIND, JACKDAMNIT 8C

Petro was there, too! Amrita squeaked out her YAY YOU'RE ALIVE due to still being choked up by tears of relief, and she looked around the crowd - Jericho, Riley, they all seemed to be here! Except...

"H-hey..." She sniffled, wiping at her face with the sleeve of her sari. "W-Where's Charlie?" She asked first; she was positive she had seen him on the beach! "A-and Christof...?"

Admittedly, Mac was starting to get bored of the whole stay-put-and-stare-with-them thing; he couldn't imagine an eternity of it and thankfully, he wouldn't have to. He felt pulled, and then he felt sand, and before he could process what else was happening, he felt home. The FEAR in the air, the scenery...home. Home! He was home and--- The Reapers hands flew up, patting himself down -- alive! HE WAS LIVE!

"Yeeesssss!" He hollered, throwing his fists into the air. Alive! Not dead! Not in a million pieces like he suspected! The pain was gone, he was sure his throat and ribs healed (the throat one was just an assumption, but it was pretty safe to assume his ribs were fine, what with the whole not being in pain when he breathed), and he wasn't dead. No more staring for the rest of existance.

Wait.

If he was alive, that meant...

Straightening, the Reaper started to scan the crowd, his black eyes narrowing. He had a pair of pink haired Demons to kill for dying.
