Sigrun was a little taken aback by the sudden embrace, but she wrapped her arms around her friend and returned it wholeheartedly. "Good, mahn," she murmured. "I don' ever wan' to see you as an unhappy penguin." Is dis de right ting to do? Well, there was only one way to find out, and Sigrun was more than willing to try this out. She wanted to try this out. For now, she sorted that doubt to the back of her mind in the little file marked, "Not at all important," and turned back to the other matter she had previously set aside.
She murmured softly, "Where did you hear dat lesbianism is uncommon, mahn?"

Desire let go of Sig from the warm embrace, but kept hold of one of her paws in her own. She felt her heart beat proudly to be with someone she was happy with. "I always want you to be happy as well, Sig. I'll be there for you..." She said as she used a free paw to move the hair from her eyes. She blinked when asked the question, "Well, I didn't hear it. More like I hadn't seen it among the family I stay with. Most have opposite gender mates or are single. That's why I asked..." She said a bit embarrassed as her cheeks were colored with some red.

Sigrun squeezed Desire's paw. "I'll be dere for you too, mahn," she murmured gently. She curled her tail around herself and brushed her friend--her girlfriend?--gently with her wing. "Mm, I wondered when I was younger, too. De people I live wit now, dough, dey're all a mixed bunch. Plen'y straight, but plen'y lesbian, gay, and bi, too." She scooted closer to Desire, then hesitated as she remembered her own nakedness. I don' matter much now, dough, mahn, she reminded herself.

Desire rested her head on her girlfriend's shoulder with a smile. She felt that everything in that one moment was perfect. Just the two of them, enjoying a day together like any other couple could. "I never would of guessed that I fell for you, Sigrun. It's like a dream only real because this is actually happening and I'm not sleeping. You know, I dream about us... like this..." She confessed as she blushed lightly, using a paw to move her hair behind her ear. She nodded in agreement to what her girlfriend said about there being plenty of straight, lesbian, gays, and bis in the world that were happy.

Sigrun held Desire's hand, brushing it with her lips. "I never would have guessed I would fall in love wit you, mahn," she murmured back. "I hoped I would find someone someday, but I never knew I would find someone dis easy." And maybe it isn't, a little voice in the back of her head said firmly. Maybe she's not de one. You can' be dis lucky, Sigrun, mahn!
But she pushed that away. The future would come in, well, the future. There was no sense worrying about it now. Yes, preparations should be made--there should be forgiveness, there should be a willingness to communicate and understand, diplomacy, tact--make this relationship last as long as it could. But for now, I just want to enjoy dis. "Wanna go for a swim, mahn?" she asked.

Desire blushed lightly at the kiss on her paw. She nuzzled Sig's cheek with the top of her beak. "Sounds like a wonderful idea, Sig! A dip in the pond is always refreshing." She said with a smile as she looked over towards the water's edge. She moved her gazed to the clothes that lay on the ground close by. "I can show you how to catch a fish too!" She said with excitement as she rose to her feet. She pulled lightly on her girl's paw to have her follow suit.

Sigrun stood up, wings spreading to catch her balance. She smiled at Desire and waded into the pond. The water felt good on her skin and on her fur. that's what she loved about the water. It always felt so good. Jus' like lookin' at Desire. She blushed at that thought. "Could you show me how to catch a fish, mahn? 'Cause I'd love to. Who taught you how to fish?" she asked. She remembered her uncle's attempts to teach her how to fish when she was a kit. She had always been more interested in swimming after the fish than actually catching them.

Desire smiled as she looked over Sigrun then looked over towards the water. "My father taught me since I'm more like him than my other sisters. They have armor like mother, but I have dad's beak. It's not very hard!" She said as she explained then dived down towards the bottom of the lake with grace. Her silver eyes peered around to find a decently sized fish to show how to catch it.

Sigrun blinked at the fish underwater, admiring their flashing scales before shaking her head and trying to catch one. She snapped at it, but it easily swam away. Though her tail sliced easily through the water, her wings weren't particularly aerodynamic--they got in the way of swift swimming. She sighed internally and swam after the fish anyway, just enjoying the feeling of water. She wondered if Desire felt like that sometimes.

Desire followed after a small group of fish. Her tail swished back and forth as she swam as if it were a fish tail. She watched as Sigrun just observed the fish. She admired the dark eyes of her love against the contrasting white fur. She moved over towards Sig with a smile then motioned her to follow.

She paused in her pursuit of the fish as Desire swam past, her tail as graceful as any aejger back home. She was certainly an accomplished swimmer, her love. Her lover. Such an idea made Sigrun blush and grin simultaneously--not the part about the good swimming (though that was a blush-worthy subject, if she thought long and hard enough about it), but the lover part. She's younger than me--but she's an adult, mahn. Sigrun followed her, wondering if she might still be able to fish like her.

Desire's attention was taken from the fish to a few fresh water clams on the bottom of the pond. She remembered as a kit she would bring a few home, but had to take them back because that was their home. This had made her think about her mother and father. She wondered what they would think of Sigrun. Her ears drooped a little at the thought of her family not accepting her mate. She swam near the bottom, picking up a clam. She wondered if there was a pearl inside, but didn't want to hurt it. She looked for a sturdy twig, using it to open up the mouth of the clam. Inside was a small pink pearl. Her eyes sparkled at the beauty of something so small. She took it with care, placing the clam back with the other ones. She waved a open paw to Sig as she swam closer.

Waves of fresh-water plants partially obscured Sigrun's view as she continued to watch for the darts of silvery fish. What sort of fish were they? Salmon? Trout? Something else? She waited until one swam past her nose. She snapped at it, this time managing to just barely catch it. In triumph, she swam to the other side of the pond, where Desire was hunched over some tiny creature. Fish still gripped tight in her jaws, she peered over Desire's shoulder curiously.

Desire turned to see that Sigrun had caught a fish. She held out her paws to show her the little pink pearl she had found. She smiled happily then looked at the small school of fish. She held onto the pearl tightly as she headed off to catch one for herself. She was going to savor her catch since it was a special day for them.
Poking towards the surface with her free paw. She held onto her catch so it wouldn't try to get away. This had happened before, but she was only a kit. Rising to the surface she tossed the fish onto the grassy plain. She sighed happily as she doggie paddled to the shore with the pearl in hand. She shook herself off, creating a light shower of water. "Such a refreshing swim." She said aloud as she waited for Sigrun.

Sigrun smiled and nodded at the pearl, following Desire back to shore. Her fish went next to the fish she had caught earlier, along with another new one. "Looks like we've got enough for dinner, mahn," she laughed. "Or lunch. Is it closer to lunch or dinner?" She wasn't even sure she cared what time it was. If it's afternoon, dere's more time to spend wit' her. But if it's night, we can do some cuddling. It had been a while since Sigrun had had a significant other. She wanted to cuddle. Instead, she stretched out on the grass, letting the sun shine on her wet, clumping hair.
