The ghoul paled further and looked away, "I-I don't remember a lot, I'm sorry, I just...um..." She stared down at her hands and didn't offer anything more.
"Jackdamnit..." the familiar swatted his reaper's ankle, and when she failed to respond, turned his glare to the zombie ghoul. "Really, what is it with you people? First the purple thuglite, and now a wanna-be zombie inquisition? A little belated don't you think?" After grumbling and huffing about for a few moments, he went on, "Here's the deal, not long after the band thing, she got suckered into entering some strange guy's portal, ok? She ended up in that place. More strange people chased after her. Fog hid her and screwed with her head. Months passed by and she didn't realize it. Then she found you guys and got skewered."
"It didn't mean to," Emily spoke up again. "The fog...it tried to help, really. Just..." the small ghoul appeared to shrink in on herself, "...I know it's like to help and then...things go wrong."

Sammy sank her shoulders slightly, if Emily didn't continue she wouldn't press, but in the end it seemed her familiar was more then willing to play along.
"Forgive me for not storming down and demanding to know what happened the moment we got back, I had a half mortified ghoulfriend clinging to me and it wasn't high on my lists to go nagging everyone post island about it. Most of us put it aside and kept it to ourselves." She couldn't place who would try to take Emily into a portal, possibly that fellow who showed up just at the end of the free for all?
"The people chasing you, were they reapers at all, or something like a reaper with weapons?" She paused tilting her head a bit, "It was trying to help? By hiding you?" She recalled feeling paranoid the whole time in that fog, like something was always chasing her till she stumbled on the underground lab herself. Was it trying to 'help' then?

A long silence, and then, "I...I don't think they were...reapers. I um...when I first found those labs I found a cloak...it was cold and I...I didn't mean to steal anything, really! I would have returned it! But the person who came through the basement portal....he looked like a reaper but...when he started attacking and yelling..." the bit of confidence she had when speaking in defense of the fog began to wane, the ghoul's voice growing softer and softer, "...maybe he was a different type of reaper but...he called himself a hunter."
She finally lifted her eyes to look at Sammy, "And that's what they do. They hunt." Her gaze flickered to the door, "...and there's nothing that can hide you, here."

"it was the same portal we went through to get out of the labs..." She recalled the scythe like weapon the 'Reaper' had used, also a number of traps as well. Exactly like Emily described it. A hunter hunting them all down. Slowly Emily would look up and Sammy would lock eyes with her, following her gaze briefly at the door before going to rest on the 'fort' Emily had built up. Suddenly the idea of barricading her own door sounded... pleasing?
Slowly Sammy tried to put a smile, it was a small one, but none the less she tried to grin at the news she was gathering, "Well, you know what they say, maybe it's time we make the Hunters the hunted? The last time someone who wasn't from Halloween came here it was Jingle Berry, sure it took four of us but we stopped him all the same. No 'Hunter' would be stupid enough to come here and fight us on our grounds."
Right? She tried not to think what might happen if the stranger they had fought did come; Jingle Berry was one thing. He had a certain honor in a way; the Hunter though. Those traps, the slaughter, it was more then simply sending kids off the path and back to the base camp.... it was intentional vicious slaughter in her mind.

The ghoul's gaze dropped again, "...I don't think that's a good idea." The set of her mouth was both tense and trembling, and her withdrawal from the conversation was palpable.
"If you're looking to like, rally the troops? Man the defenses? Look elsewhere," the cat wandered over to the door, it's message clear. "You got what you came for, and it's not like she was the only person on that island. Go bother that Firth ******** or whoever else you guys 'rescued.'"

"No, maybe not, but it's a thought?" She watched as Emily started to shy away before turning to face her rather worked up Familiar.
"No I'm not asking Emily or you to jump to some call to arms. I'm doing this because of people like Emily, Siddie, or Shehk, people who I see every day who aren't ready for this. I can't help anyone if I don't know what I'm fighting." She glanced back at Emily before returning her eyes to the cat. "I don't want to see something like this happening again, not to Emily, not to anyone, we don't deserve that."
She started to open the door turning back one last time, "If you ever want to talk... or somewhere to stay with someone else, my rooms on the second floor of the demon dorms. You can stop by whenever you like."

When the door shut behind her, the sound of locks being tumbled and fumbled with sounded loudly in the hallway. It was the only answer Sammy's kind offer would receive that day.
