"I s'pose those things might be a little related." Lore rested an elbow on the table and his chin on his palm. He looked at Frost, still wearing his typical smirk, though his expression was a touch more serious, "You want to pin things down. You've got the clipboard, the posture, the teacups.. you like things in their place and neatly laid out in front of you. I understand." He sighed, "I know watching me dance around the facts is getting to you more than the others. You're a smart guy, Frost. If I could tell you everything I would. But for now, all I can tell you is that I appreciate your keen interest and this very excellent tea."

"I do," Frost set his cup back in its saucer, "and I am, indeed I am rather more than just 'smart'.... Classified then, not just playing around? Mmmh, well I suppose the reason for an executive being under guard would be classified. Highly irregular. Have you done something, I wonder? What possible reason could there be for confining you up there? Not serious enough to land you in a cell... or perhaps that is just too conspicuous. Not that the boss and the other two executives marching you off was subtle. Clearly it is not serious enough for you to be disposed of though." He liked puzzles but only when they were solvable; currently this one was just frustrating; if there were any more clues clearly they were social ones that he was unable to pick up.

"Is there nothing you can tell me then, beyond the fact that you can't tell me anything?" Frost asked, refilling his teacup carefully from the pot and adding milk. "It seems a lot of trouble to go to, coming down here to tell me you can tell me nothing.... Unless you simply relished the chance to escape for a while, and to put one over on Not-Frank?... Sir." He did keep forgetting that; it would probably get him into trouble one of these days.

"For what it's worth, secrets aren't really my thing. I figure out in the open is as good a place for the truth as any. But I'm not really calling the shots here." Lore leaned back in his chair, scratching his chin, "I wish I could lay the cards on the table. I promise, if and when the air is clear you're gonna be super disappointed. Whatever theories you're constructing in your head right now are like ten times more exciting than reality." He chuckled and shrugged, "But that's usually the case, right?" He tilted his head, "As to our visit, my room's really boring. Gotta say I'm curious.. will you be telling anyone Frank's been failing at his one job? Be a shame to ruin his whole day like that."

Frost studied the executive intently, steepling his fingers because he understood that this was one of the things you did to indicate you were thinking about what to say as opposed to just sitting there like an idiot. He was most certainly not aware of how stilted he managed to make the motion look. "You are correct, sometimes theories are more interesting than fact... yet the satisfaction of having an answer, even a mundane one, cannot be ignored. Even if it is 'dull'," fingers un-steepled to make air quotes, "I shall be glad to see the pieces of this puzzle put together. As for Not-Frank... I see no reason why I should discuss this with anyone, if you were implying you would prefer I keep this little escaped of yours confidential? I feel the need for clarity on that, I do not take hints especially well."

Lore chuckled, "That's what I was aiming at, yeah."

Frost nodded very slightly and raised his cup in the other man's general direction. "Then consider it done, or rather not done. I can understand that word of this incident getting back to him could be unfortunate for you." He had no desire to cause trouble for the unusual executive. Initially he had been prejudiced against the man because he took that beautifully neat uniform and made it so very scruffy, and he couldn't say the familiar manner had especially enchanted him either though the latter had grown on him. Loreven was interested in those below his own rank. He acknowledged merit, and had not been made conceited by his power. This new mystery of course added an extra dimension of interest. Yes. Loreven was definitely a man worth taking an interest in.

"I do hope that the 'air clears'," more air quotes, "In the near future Executive Loreven. I have never been a fan of suspense."
