Nobody trusts him? Satoru's brow crinkled at the statement, surprised. True, Rorret sometimes seemed to speak over his audience's head, and yes he had a funny way of going about doing things, but every brother had a corpse in the dirt they hid from others, or other such quirks. And he had brought new life to the pack, so that was good right? Or maybe Sato should pay more attention . . .I did a good job, he asserted mentally. I'm proud of him, even if I don't talk to him as much anymore.
Should he ask after Rorret? Would it look bad if he did?
"I-I'll do that, sir, just as soon as I'm sure you're good to go. And I dunno about the stomach showing - the younglings might take advantage," Sato pointed out. "Show them, um, show your face, the sign of the brotherhood on your head too. I think it'll make a good impression?" It certainly did for him.

His eyes snapped open, muscles jerking slightly -- the startled reaction of a wolf who had nodded off to sleep and woken himself. Sato was talking. He tried to parse the words, but it was too complicated to bother with.
"I...I should go back to sleep," he said, finally, trying to seek out the golden wolf's eyes. "I...thank you."
It didn't matter that the other wolf was his inferior...That, under other circumstances, Firdaws could use him for target practice. They were all brothers, and this particular brother had done him a valuable service.

"Oh, yes, yes, I'll let you sleep, sorry!" The omega bobbed his head and stepped back, pulling the bowl with him so that Firdaws would not roll over it on accident. "Sweet dr- Er, sleep well, sir," Sato almost mumbled, flashing a weak smile before taking the bowl into his mouth to bring back. All the mannerisms, the phrases, the posture taken when his wards were pups had bubbled up during the care taking of the hunt master; it was embarrassing.
But thanks given was enough to wash that away.
