Jericho lowered his head. Though the whispering voices were warning him to hide away, he didn't have the strength to do anything but sit there on the ground in defeat.
"No hiding it now we suppose..." he said, his voice sounding a little hallowed. His wings shifted a bit but then he also tore away half his shirt. The dragon's right shoulder had completely greyed out, and there were other patches here and there around his torso.
"We were supposed to fight it.. to overcome it together.. Day by day the infection grows.. we're scared..."

"... D-did Riley have it too...?" She asked, eyes darting from the grey on his shoulder to his torso and his wings; it was getting difficult to tell when 'we' meant 'we', and when it meant 'I'. Her head hurt and her heart hurt. For calling herself a friend of his, she wondered why she didn't try to dig the truth out of him earlier, seeing how she had her suspicions that something was wrong with Jericho since that whole 'gender-swap' incident, "Did you tell anyone else about it?"
She wasn't bold enough to touch his shoulder or torso even with how upset she was at the moment, but she did reach out to gently touch the part of his wing that had been infected, wondering if he could feel her. Part of her was afraid; what if he turned out like Red? Or those Christmas creatures who had attacked them? Would they have to fight Jericho then? Would they have to destroy him the way they helped destroyed Red? She was never close to the professor, but if she had to attack Jericho with the intention of destroying him to "save" him...
"It's alright to be scared," She reached up to ruffle his hair, somehow gathering enough energy to offer him a smile - a strained smile, but one nonetheless, "We'll find a way... Somehow." Hope had better redeem itself, because they really needed some right now, "Do you have any clues about how to stop it from... Spreading?"

Slowly, Jericho nodded to the question about Riley, though hesitated about the next question.
"Just.. Malodore and Shehk. We.. l-let Shehk drink some of our blood before knowing it... had to let her know... We might have endangered her," he said before tensing some. She hadn't shown any signs of infection, but he was still worried nonetheless. They still didn't know how Insanity spread. And there was the chance it could be stewing inside the Pricolici.
Looking towards Lizzy, he sniffled before lowering his head once more.
"We... we spoke with Invictus. The heirs know more about this than most do. They have it too.. milder. But you can see it in Cymbeline most," he said before shifting, "He had a theory.. th-that we need direct human fear. That we need to directly scare them to have them fear us specifically. '

"I see... I hope that... She didn't get infected..." She took his hand in hers and gave it a squeeze, even if she felt as frightened as he probably was, "I don't know how we're going to do it, but we'll find a cure. Malodore is smart. He'll be able to... Be able to find one if we all help him." Hope. One last chance for hope.
"Direct human fear... That's..." She frowned, mulling over it before sighing, "We don't have access to any humans other than the hunters, and I really don't think that they fear us... There's no way for us to test out that theory. Does it work if... If we use our fear?"

Jericho squeezed Lizzy's hand in turn. Yes.. Malodore would find a way. It had to. Oh Jack. If Riley really was gone, the doctor had to feel terrible right now. Probably even worse than how he was right now, especially if it witnessed whatever had happened.
"We... We don't know. We've been waiting for the horsemen business to be over with so that the three of us could focus on finding a cure. We.. don't know if they managed to find anything while they were there. Probably not.."
His face contorted again as he thought about it. Riley couldn't be gone yet. They still needed to fight this damn affliction together. He did not want to be alone in this..

"You're not alone," She said suddenly, almost like he was reading his mind; then again, it wasn't difficult to guess what was going through his mind simply by listening to and looking at him. She imagined that losing Riley, he must feel pretty lost and empty right about now, "Malodore... You have to be his support, and you have to let him support you. You have to let me and Shehk support you. No more secrets, or I'll be... I'll be really angry with you."
With all the wrath of a Foxfire.
"Starting tomorrow morning, let's wait for our friends to come home together, alright?" She offered him another strained smile, "It was getting lonely waiting by myself anyway... But your wings... Do you mind if others see it?"

Looking up at her, there were tears welling up in Jericho's eyes once more. It didn't take much before he had started to cry once more. Trembling some, he let his head hang down again, nodding to her as she suggested that they go wait at the portal for their friends. Though, he he paused when she asked about his wings.
"..We.. We'll find a way to cover up..."

"I can find you a cloak that you can wear over your wings, but... You understand that we won't be able to cover it up forever," She didn't want to think that far ahead, because it would mean that they had failed to find a cure before it got worse, "And... This might sound weird but don't be afraid to cry. Crying... Sometimes is for the strong who had to be strong for too long. Whatever we see when they come home..."
She paused, "Whatever we see, and whatever we hear from them... Whatever happens, remember that I am here for you. And Malodore, and Shehk, and all your other friends, alright?" She was worried about Riley - about what might had happened to her - but she was also worried about the dragon's current state of mind.

Nodding slowly, Jericho was unable to say anything back once again as the tears came out uncontrollably once more. A part of him was afraid of what they'd find coming back. He wanted to know the truth, and yet at the same time, it scared him. Just thinking of the various possibilities, he bent over and curled up, sobbing hard and loud.

And she allowed him to cry, letting go on his hand to pat his head and his back - although not at the same time; he had to get it out. He had to get it out now because it was probably not going to get any easier, and it would be bad to bottle up anything.
"I'll come pick you up at 9 in the morning tomorrow, alright? I... I have everyone's numbers in my phone... From Seeds," She grabbed Jericho's hand, and placed the eyephone on his palm before curling his fingers around it, "You can text others with it. Tell them that your phone is no longer contactable. Tell them to call and text you through this number instead. I'll be alright, I have a spare." Namely the admin phone; she would offer that to Jericho, but it was a protected number and they wouldn't be able to call back.
"If you need me, I'm at the Reaper dorms, alright?" She eyed him, looking wary, like she wasn't comfortable with leaving him on his own, "Do you need me to stay?"

Nodding once again, Jericho soon lifted his head as he felt something be placed into his hand. It was Lizzy's phone. His gaze soon raised up a little more to meet with her's.
"A-alright.." he managed to choke out. Though at the question of if he wanted her to stay, he didn't answer. He didn't even really know. The dragon felt lost and helpless right about now. He wanted to do something about all of this, but without knowing anything of the matter, he could do nothing but wait.

Enoh Love Text to Mac, from the Seeds Admin phone: Mac, you probably can't text me back through here, but just saying that I'm at Jericho's right now. He's... Not feeling too good. Something might had happened to Riley. The demon mark on him had burned away. We... We think that she might be... Gone... For real... I don't feel safe leaving him alone so I'm staying here until he sleeps. I love you, see you soon. With the text sent, she looked at Jericho.
"I'll stay here, you sleep, alright? It's... Been a long day for you, you need your rest for the days ahead," She gave him one last pet on his back before standing up, attempting to pull him to his feet, "Come on, let's get you to bed... Or however and wherever you usually sleep."

Jericho was almost dead weight at the moment, but he did stand weakly with her help. There was a distant look in his eyes, and in a way he almost looked soulless right about now. Nodding slowly, he turned around and began to sort of stumble his way towards his pile of treasure where he flopped down onto face first.
Sleep. Yes...
It was about all he could do right now anyway. Weeping had taken out his strength and energy quite a bit, so he didn't have much of a will to do anything else but lay there.

Lizzy winced when he face planted into his treasure pile; red dragon or not, that had got to hurt. How was sleeping on metal good for anyone anyway?
Quietly, she sat down next to him and started patting his back, trying to get him to sleep like... Like a scareling. That was how it felt like right now.

Slowly. Weakly, Jericho began to curl up into a ball whilst on his treasure. Reaching into the gold pile, he soon grabbed something and pulled back. Looking into his palm, aside from a handful of coins and gems, was Riley's pin. Clutching onto it, he closed his eyes and curled up more tightly, eventually managing to fall asleep.
